“Great wine, great location”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

We spend two evenings here. The first was just for couple of drinks, but the red wine by the glass was really good. And the proprietor gave us a taste before pouring a glass. The dining room looked nice so we came back the next evening for dinner. The wine was still great, and there was some great bottled beers (not the usual lagers). Sadly the food wasn't quite up to the same high standard. Paella was too salty, though from memory the starters were pretty good (can't remember what they were though).

The atmosphere was friendly. Quite a few other tourists, but it was easy to strike up conversations with other drinkers/diners.

This bar is a great spot, close to the cathedral, to wile away an hour or two.

“Hidden Little Treasure”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

This place is so amazing. It is just off the busy tourist area in a small alley behind the Valencia Catherdral.

Since it's on a quiet alley, it is so nice to spend your quality evening here with their delicious food and drinks.

You gotta try The Paella as it is AMAZING. I loved the mussels - highly recommended. The meat balls are just ok, I had better ones. The staff is very friend - although she speaks very limited English, she really tried her best to help!

It is very cheap, we had chicken paella, seafood salad, meatballs, a massive pot of mussels to share and drinks each, it only cost us less than 50 euros.

I had a great evening and I will go back again!!!

“Lovely Paella”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

We visited the restaurant for dinner and had outdoor seats, which was lovely. It was difficult to order off the menu as the waitress barely spoke English however we chose two small dishes from the tapas and the Seafood Paella. The two starter dishes were tasty but not too impressive, patatas bravas are not for me and the roasted vegetables with squid (I think) was good as well, however the bread served was pretty stale. The Paella was a huge portion for 2, in fact it would have served 4! This dish I really enjoyed, it tasted authentic and the seafood selection was very good and succulent (not overcooked at all). The Paella was by far my favourite dish and made the evening very enjoyable! The staff were friendly but lacked English, which was a shame as we may have understood the menu a lot more and ordered two different starters.
I would say the food is tasty however not good value for money. It was a good experience of Spanish food and the complementary liqueur for dessert was lovely to top of a good meal.

“Great little gem”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We stopped at Almudin almost by mistake and it was very rewarding. The restaurant is very charming in a small road next to plaza de le virgen, away from all the fuss and the touristy places. The food was very good, they had a decent selection of tapas as well as a Paella Valenciana, and we enjoyed one of the best Sangria we had in Spain there.

“Fabulous. That good we had to go back.”
Reviewed September 9, 2013 via mobile

If this review serves only to improve the ranking I'm happy. Almudin is currently 17th, it should be top 5. Tried many of the recommendations for valencia and this place smashed them ! Cosy place and a truly Spanish experience. Arrived on another busy evening and declared we were happy to wait for a table outside, the owner apologised for our short wait then proceeded to take an indoor table outside for us. That's what I call service. Stunning food , fabulous wine and ultimate hospitality. It's the best place we ate at during our stay in valencia. Numerous other places are a) not out doors & b) non Spanish. 2 advisory points, don't get carried away, the tapas portions are big, don't expect to be outside without a booking. A fabulous place. A whole hearted muchos gracias to the staff !
