“Worth the walk!”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We took quite the hike to get to the "Best Paella in Spain" and had a great experience. Several Valencians recommended this restaurant to us. The staff was very nice, however we felt slightly overwhelmed at all the different kinds of Paella and our first server didn't offer much insight or recommendation...but it could also have been the language barrier. The most important part was the Seafood Paella which was amazing!! I recommend serving it yourself so that you can scoop the caramelized rice from the bottom of the pan! That was the tastiest part. This restaurant also has a very beautiful atmosphere. Our younger server, Alex was fantastic. He was funny, he was always checking on us and he really tried to use his best English for us. He even offered us a ride back to Valencia since we were going to have to wait hours for the bus to come! This was one of the priciest restaurants we ate at in Spain but I think they are trying to maintain their reputation as an upscale restaurant. Be aware that the price on the menu (which says it serves a minimum of 2 people) is actually the price for just one person. We paid about 18 Euros per person for the Paella.

“Valencian food at its best!”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

L'Establiment is an exceptionally good restaurant, only open at lunchtimes and booking recommended, especially at weekends. It offers typical Valencian food cooked and presented to the highest standards. The owner has been there 35 years and this shows with his personal attention to every table. We chose several racions to share and then tucked into an excellent paella senoret.. The bill was most reasonable for the quality of the food and the very pleasant surroundings. A trip to this area of Valencia should include a visit to L'Establiment for everybody. Quite the best meal of our recent visit.

“Beautiful spot”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Of all the paella houses here in the city of Paella, we have found this beautiful spot in front of a canal for our cravings. The servcie is always efficient and nothing is ever too diffcicult. The owner´s presence is always a pleasure as he plays an excellent host. The duck & chicken paella is our favorite, the local eel dish Ali Pebre is excellent and a must! You can even take a canoe around the surrounding lake after lunch.

“what a paella”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

we were recommended by the team at Appetite to this out of the city traditional restaurant. It is a 25euro taxi ride but well worth it as the restaurant was surrounded in rice fields and we had a table right by their private river. The staff spoke good English and was very hospitable. But the paella Valencian with duck, chicken and rabbit was truly delicious! Make an effort to come here as it is a treat away from touristy places.

“Real Valencia, real paella, real service”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

This restaurant is on the edge of El Palmar a small village in the Albufera in Vallencia. It is difficult to find, and you may well, as we did, have to ask someone in the town the way

The paella is as you would both hope and expect excellent. We live in Spain, have eaten many paellas, and found this restaurant really good. The owner is, to say the least, enthusiastic, and will recommend starters and main courses. We had cod croquettes, prawns and tomatoes as separate tapas, then the paella marisco for 4. With the coffee came three "frozen" bottles of mistel (the local sweet wine), the local firewater and the local firewater plus herbs

The service was from the owner and two very friendly waiters. The restaurant looks out over a small canal off the lake.

Overall it is a "Spanish" rather than a "tourist" restaurant, and serves excellent local food. The Albufera is worth a visit, and if you visit the Albufera, then do take lunch here

Finally I would point out that this restaurant is Spanish so they take lunch orders from 13.30 to 16.00 rather than Northern European hours
