Good paella in the centre of the city.

Staff were attentive but very very very slow!

On our trip, this was the best paella we had. Went for lunch and was not disappointed. Loved the atmosphere in the restaurant....had a very homey feel; not stuffy.

The paella valenciana (chicken and rabbit) was superb. Was cooked to perfection...not dried out and not mushy. Had the requisite socarrat which is a hallmark of a great paella. at 10 euro/person, it's a bargain. I can see where others had the seafood which is 8 euros/per higher or other folks ordered starters. Just stick to the basic paella and you will be very satisified. Will go again if/when we make it back.

Went there for lunch on a Monday. Near the cathedral in a modern building on Calle de la Mar. Not very big from my perspective: two smallish rooms when you enter and a mezzanine level with more tables. Festive decor inside with lots of brightly coloured plates on the wall.

The reviews trumpeted the paella dishes and the menu had many. But we previously had so many paella's at the beach (try El Coso) that we went another route. Started with the Iberian ham, which was good as was to be expected. Then grilled vegetables (courgettes, eggplant, mushrooms, etc). Very nice and light for a hot day. Then we both had grilled fish (labia and dorade). The fish were butterflied, placed on aluminium foil and the grilled – but I expect that they were cooked with an overhead heat source such as a broiler. Not very large fish, but very nice.

Price-wise it was more expensive than some of the other places, but that was to be expected as it is routinely recommended for quality. Two starters, two mains, water, wine, dessert and coffee for about 70 Euros.

If in the area, I would return.

We were recommended this restaurant by our guide book and were quite disappointed. We had a seafood paella which was 18 euro per person , so 36 euro for both of us. The food while fresh and nicely presented was incredibly salty and a struggle to finish.( Perhaps the chef is a heavy smoker who can't taste anything anymore!) . But for a 50 euro meal we were quite disappointed as we were expecting something special.

My partner is Spanish, we both loved our meal. Clam starter to share, paella de valencia, with butter beans was lovely, not tourist food, most were Spanish and local.
The desert was good a sort of us cheese one.
With a bottle of house red shared starter and desert.coffee and a brandy.
€62
we would love to go back.
