Very nice location in the central part of town, near the "old town". Rates were very reasonable, 65 euro for two people. Rooms were clean and stocked with many toiletries and decorated in "modern" theme. Front desk was very helpful and polite. I would stay here again!!! They had Wi Fi

We stayed at the Acta Del Carmen in July 2010. The hotel is close to the city centre and is only a 5 minute walk to the Plaza De Virgen and Cathedral, the splendid Torres de Serrnos almost next door, is an impressive landmark and make the hotel easy to find. Our room was clean and tidy and perfectly adequate for our purposes, although it could have been a little larger, the en-suite was nicely appointed with a very roomy walk in shower. The guys on the front desk were very helpful and provided us with plenty suggestions for places to eat, all were spot on. The air conditioning worked fine and thankfully kept us cool at night. There was no brochure or such that informed you of the hotels services, breakfast times etc, we later discovered that there was a sauna and Jacuzzi on the roof, sadly we did not have time to try either of them out. Over all a very pleasant stay and good value for money in a good location.

I stayed in Acta Del Carmen in April 2010 and received fantastic service. As a couple in our early 20’s, we wanted somewhere that was clean, contemporary and close to amenities while being affordable. Hotel Acta Del Carmen was exactly that. Firstly, if you’re confused about whether to stay in the old or new side of Valencia, I would highly recommend the old time. It’s quaint, has some nice historical sites and it’s the area where a great deal of the good restaurants and nightlife resides. Our room was gorgeous. Plenty of space, simply, yet brightly decorated with a fantastic walk in power shower. We were concerned with there being a language barrier, fortunately the clerk at the desk spoke exceptional English and was a great help in regards to helping us get around, writing directions and recommendations. We only had the breakfast twice, both times it was a delight, with a good variety of pastries, meat slices, cheeses, cereals and fresh juices & hot drinks.

It was quiet at the time of year we went, and hardly saw anyone in the 4 days we were there.

The top floor sauna is tiny, but nice for relaxation. Unfortunately the outdoor Jacuzzi was closed, which was the only draw back.

In all, I highly recommend this hotel. Brilliant!

All in all, Acta del carmen was a good hotel, good location, good price, modern and clean. I'd def stay there again if I want a city holiday but that would be because now I know what I'm getting.

Good points: as above, our room on first floor was spacious and quite. Shower is lovely, beds comfy. Good location to old town, turn left and left again and you're pretty much right in it; and a stroll from a great street with latenight bars (johnny Maracas etc).

A few things soured this visit however. Had I known upfront, I would have been able to make an informed decision. As a result, we decided to move on to another hotel, Las Arenas Balneario and it was AMAZING (but more than double the price and a bit further out of town, but PERFECT for a relaxing holiday).
Probs with Acta del Carmen:
1) we chose to upgrade and get a the suite apartment because we wanted more room (2 of us). Only on arrival were we told that the hotel itself did not have the suite in it, the suite was a 5-10 minute walk down the road. So, what was the point of booking a hotel if that wasn't to be our location? We also booked because we wanted to use the rooftop spa. I didn't want to have to walk 10 minutes everytime I wanted to use hotel facilties (mostly being the rooftop spa). It turned out the roof top spa was dirty (black muck all over the bottom of it) and not heated, so that scuppered our plans of using it (a major drawcard for us, anyway).

2) we were given to option to take the suite, or downgrade to a normal room in the hotel. We decided to downgrade to stay in the hotel, but they didn't downgrade the price (suite 67GBP)!!!!! eventually we got the rate advertised on booking.com for the first night (55GBP), but they wouldn't give it to us for the second night(65GBP). Would have been better off booking the standard room in the first place on the website.

Also, there seems to be no info or photos whatsoever about the suite, which is probably your first pointer that you've no idea what your getting. At least the photos of the normal rooms are here, and they do seem to be accurate.

I'd recommend calling first before booking so you can make sure you're getting what you want. Staff are helpful and spoke excellent english.

Just back from 4 nights at Acta del Carmen hotel and am pleased to report good things about this hotel: clean room with wooden floor, BIG bed, aircon, walk-in shower and location of hotel ideal for being out and about in historical centre. Minutes from great restaurants and bars. Oh - and hotel also had wifi which worked great in the room.

Only negative points (and they are very little ones): we had a problem with the air conditioning one night (turns out that someone in another room had set theirs to heat which therefore messed everyone elses up!) - but the front desk sorted that all out in the morning. Also, it would have been nice to have some information in the room e.g. breakfast times, local info etc. Finally, not that it was quite the weather for it, but the roof-top pool was out of action as it needed to be cleaned apparently.

All in all a great stay and I would go back. Loved the whooshy door at the entrance too!

Chose this hotel based on the favourable Trip Advisor reviews however wished we had gone for an alternative option. The location, whilst well placed on the fringes of the Cathedral Quarter, was also located on the very busy road running through Valencia. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper!

Our room had the feel of a hostel - bright orange walls, limited room around the double bed and very little natural light. The bathroom was also quite spartan and cold. Furthermore, by Day 2 a distinct odour of smelly drains had started to permeate the room! We complained to the man on the front desk who admitted that it was a frequent problem, particulalry in certain rooms on the first floor (be warned!) and that despite a full programme of refurbishment about 4 years ago, the hotel's owners had failed to upgrade the drainage!!! Very unpleasant. We changed rooms and were given a much more spacious room on the 4th floor. This was however located on the main road which meant a broken night's sleep....however given the choice between sleeping in a whiffy room or a noisy room - I would opt for the noisy one every time!!!

All in all a disappointment. This hotel offers far more than it delivers.

Stayed for three nights and chose this Hotel as it was close to the Old City and very reasonably priced for a Hotel of this high quality.
We stayed on the fourth floor in a smallish room that was very smartly furnished. The bathroom had good quality fittings with an excellent shower in the bath. The one suprising omission was the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room.
The staff were very helpful and courteous.
In fact everywhere we went in Valencia we were impressed by the welcome we received and the efficiency of the waiter, waitress, bar staff etc (With the notable excpetion of El Corte Ingles! We wanted a quick snack and were served by staff who made the zombies in 'Shaun of the Dead' look postively cheerful! The food was dire as well.)
But El Corte Ingles must not detract from Hotel Carmen which we will stay at again and will happily recommend.
We had really good food at Maramo Restaurant and really interesting Tapas at Babalu.
