I have stayed at Russafa Youth hostel for 3 days, to begin my placement period in Valencia. It is small but very cosy hostel. The rooms are clean and I booked a one personsroom for €25 per night, which had a large and comfortable bed. I was right across from the shared bathroom, with a good shower (good water pressure) and all the rooms have funny trendy designs, including the common areas.
Breakfast was very extensive and the area is large.
But the best thing about Russafa is the owners, they are so nice!! They helped me on my way in the city and told me everything I needed to know about living here. They even helped me with my Spanish.
Wi-fi is available throughout the building, good service.

The area around the hostel is very nice as well and it is located near a large fresh market (Russafa mercado). City centre is about 15min walk but Valencia has the perfect Valenbisi-systeem so you could bike everywhere as well.

All in all this was the best welcome to Valencia I could have imagined for myself, they made me feel 'at home' as they say.

As you are dealing directly with the owners here it couldn't get any better. Extremely helpfull, they go out of their way for you and very friendly. Watch out, you may want to stay a few days more because of feeling at home.
The hostel is basic but that goes perfectly with the pricing. Many hostels may be cheap like this one but Russafa is spotless, imaculate. It's not in the casco antiguo but actually the Rusaffa neighbourhood in some aspects is cooler than the old center. And you're closer to the train station too. I had a spacy three bed bedroom all to myself and since there were hardly any other guests no queing up. If you've come to Valencia to party then don't stay here. If you want a good value, clean place then this may well be your best bet in town. Also the breakfast (included) can't be beat. Keep it up guys!

Gert

Roussafa was beyond my expectations! Because I paid like 25 euros the night and I was in a very clean, beautiful bedroom, with a big bathroom (shared but none the less clean and big), and with the most friendly staff (considering most spanish are not).

Room Tip: Try a private room, they are very nice. And have in mind that the hostel is located in a walking-only street, so if you take a taxi or bus you have to walk just a little bit.

We booked 3 nights at Russafa Youth Hostel in October and were a little worried at first based on some of these reviews but instead we were pleasantly surprised. It is not far from the train station and main areas of Valencia, only about a 10-15 minute walk which allowed us to enjoy Valencia but not be right in the thick of it. It is a little difficult to find as it's not on a street so to speak but a little pedestrian area. Luckily a man from the nearby bar noticed us wandering aimlessly with our backpacks and pointed us in the right direction. The man (owner) greeted us and allowed us to check in early which was really nice. The rooms are not big but did the job for us (2 girls travelling). There was enough room to have our backpacks semi-unpacked and to move around easily. We had towels provided also. There was shared bathrooms that were clean and hygienic, we never had a problem needing to wait. Might be different during a busier time. Our room had a gorgeous view of the church directly opposite and although it was directly above a common meeting area for locals, with the window closed it was easy to block out the noise. The owner was extremely helpful with giving directions to any place we needed (including but not limited to restaurants, post office, laundry and Internet cafe). He was also happy to recommend places for us to eat which were always delicious! The laundry is only a 2 minute walk away, super easy to find. It was a nice, quaint hostel to stay at if you like to relax. If you are looking for a party hostel, this is definitely not for you.

There was only a few little downsides, nothing too bad though. The breakfast consisted of cereals with warm milk and some muffins. Not a substantial breakfast but seems pretty standard across a lot of hostels in Europe. There is no lift if you have heavy luggage but this is not a huge drama.

If you're visiting Valencia and have a sweet tooth, particularly for gelato, you MUST visit Amorino's. we've travelled extensively through Europe (including many Italian cities) and would safely say this is THE BEST we have ever had! There is also a yummy restaurant, I can't remember the name of but is opposite the C&A and the first restaurant you come to on the right hand side when you pass McDonald's. The paella was the best we had while in Valencia :)
