We had a night here when going to the opera at the Art and Science Complex, which is a few hundred metres from the hotel. And indeed out hotel room had a nice view of the Arts & Science complex

The room was ultra modern, with a good view of the museum complex. And was good value for money at 84€ for the room.

However there were maintenance problems
1. The worst was a toilet problem with drains and the resultant smell in the room.
2. The next was that the air-conditioning temp was faulty, so we had to open the window to cool the room. But the window would not shut, and someone from reception armed with a long pole had to close it
3. The electric blind did not work, so the room was too light at night

So we had a smelly room, too hot with faulty air-con, and too noisy with a window that would not close

I would also say that the downstairs bar area is a bit seedy. I would agree with the other reviewer's comment that the hotel garage was very difficult to get into with tight turns - it did cost 18€ a day, but I knew that in advance, and is fairly standard with city hotels. On the plus side the wifi was free.

So 84€ for a modern room with a view of one of Spain's modern architectural wonders, Pleasant staff, but with fault plumbing, aircon and blind and a window that did not work. Perhaps oddly I felt I got value for money.

Perfectly located in 5 min walking distance from Science Museum and Oceanografic. Modern design of the bathroom with glass doors looks a little bit strange at first, but it is very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff, free wifi in the rooms.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view to the old Turia river side, it's a bit noisier because of the cars but...

The hotel has great location nearby City of Art and Science. We reserved two nights in "delux for family use" room, but this was a plain room with king plus bed and two additional beds for kids, so we practically got a 4bed military dormitory.

The concept of hotel is real nightmare for family because entrance into room is realised through bathroom that is divided from WC by glass wall (!?).

After first sight we decided to cancel our reservation. The boy at reception didn't look very surprised by our decision. We struggled to escape from hotel because the elevators was overcrowded and rare, we had to wait 20 minutes for elevator.

I believe that catch is a relatively low price for 4stars hotel, but after first step into room you have to pay every single facility or service that are by default in 2stars hotel.

The hotel was rated as 4 stars but would not give more then 3 for it.Bed was fine and room ok. Bathroom showed it has had good times in the past...For breakfast they asked 19 euros per person,we did not have that and went for breakfast in the city 20 minutes walking from the hotel or about 8 euros with a taxi .There is a parking garage below the hotel with a very difficult and small entrance. They asked another 19 euros for that a day but they told us we can park also outside without a problem.Well we found a broken side glass next morning.Took 3 hours and 120 euros to get another car from our rent a car.Can be that if you have a car without a rent a car sign that parking out side is ok but otherwise worthwhile to pay the extra 19 euros. There is a gym but facing the sun side and it was boiling hot there so no way you can do any activity in there.Valencia is a nice city with a lot of hotels also in the old city.No special reason to take this one.

This is the second Barcelo we've stayed in, the first was in Malaga. The one in Malaga is a far more 'funky' hotel but this one is perfectly fine in a standard sort way. The biggest strong point of this place has got to be it's position just across the road from the arts and science complex. I had been to Valencia earlier in the year, but only for a day and a half and only got to see the old town. What a difference a mile or so can make! The arts and science complex is ULTRA modern and a fantastic place to wander around. We were only in Spain for a weekend so it was all a bit of a dash this time too!
The Barcelo sits bang in the middle of bus route 19 which will take you down to the port/harbour/F1 track/beach/great restaurants or in the other direction it will take you to the modern shops/old town and more great restaurants. You can go as far as you like on the bus for 1.5 Euros. There are also several bikes outside the hotel which you can hire. If you are feeling energetic then between the hotel and the arts and science complex runs what was once the flood channel. This has been landscaped and planted as parkland so there is now a narrow park running from here right up to the old town and beyond with football pitches, sculptures, water features, playgrounds, adventure areas and nice places to sit and watch the world go by. Sunday mornings, it seems is jogging and cycling time. I think everyone in Valencia was running or riding through the park on the Sunday we were there, it was packed!!
When we arrived we went to our room to drop the bags and then thought we'd get a drink from the bar. I had a beer and my partner had a pot of tea. When we got our drinks the tea pot, the cup, saucer and spoon were all visibly dirty. We pointed it out to the barman who shrugged, rinsed them under the tap, dried them with a tea towel and gave us them back...unbelievable!! 4 star? Not in service skills that's for sure. We were not impressed as you can imagine.
Other than this, everything else was good. The room was a good size, clean and the bed was MASSIVE! 2 queen size beds fixed together, both of us could lie 'starfish' with space to spare!
We had paid extra for one of the rooms with a view of the arts and science buildings. Whether or not it was worth the extra I don't know really, how much time do you spend staring out of a hotel window? It's a nice view admittedly but as we spent a day actually at these places, being able to see them from the room seems pretty unimportant.
It seemed that the only curtains were the black, fine mesh, 1 1/2ft wide strips which hung from floor to ceiling on a curtain rail.
"Great.." we thought, "we're going to be woken at the crack of dawn!"
It took us ages to realise that there was a hidden electric black-out blind hidden in the window frame controlled from the bedside!!!
We were on the fifth floor (rm 519) and the lift can be slow in coming, you have to get into the Spanish 'manana' frame of mind while you wait for it sometimes!!

So, the Barcelo is a very nice hotel, but there is nothing to "wow" here. It is well placed for all the sights Valencia has to offer, is clean (except for the bar!) and friendly.

Room Tip: You could pay for one of the rooms with a view of the Arts and Science complex, OR you could save th...

In a good location opposite the Arts and Science Park this hotel proved to be excellent. Access to the linear park (what was once the river bed before the waters were diverted) is across the road from the hotel. Once in the park you can walk to the old part of the city in very pleasant surroundings in about 15 minutes. In the opposite direction the Oceanographic(well worth a visit) is approximately 5 minutes.
Modern in style, the hotel has a large reception area, which opens directly onto the pavement.
The bedroom was clean, comfortable and quite spacious for a hotel. The air con was quiet. Each day towels, etc were changed and complimentary toiletries were also replenished.
A good range of quality foods were served for breakfast (buffet style). Other than breakfast, we did not eat at the hotel as there was a wide range of restaurants and cafes along the same street, which were open into the small hours.
