“Fantastic beach front hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2009

My husband and I wanted a relaxing short break by the beach. The hotel ticked all the boxes for us. The staff were very friendly, we arrived around 11am and we were able to check-in straight away. We were very lucky as we were upgraded to a deluxe sea front room with our own private balcony. The room was fantastic and so was the hotel.
The beach is right infront of the hotel is very nice. Theres a strip of restaurants by the beach which was always busy, apart from that theres not much around the hotel. Getting to the town centre is very easy by taxi approx 10mins cost approx 8-10 Euros.
Would definitely go back to this hotel.

Having been to Valencia before (and stayed in the Westin which was good, but not as good as LasArenas) and having had lunch here, I then decided to come back the next time and stay in Las Arenas. I was not disappointed!
This part of Valencia might not be the nicest one. Although at the beach overlooking the sea, one needs a taxi or subway to reach the more interesting part of this nice city.
However, if you look for a resort with with easy access a very interesting city, this is a perfect location.
We arrived somewhat early. Despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked the night before (Copa del Rey) they had our room ready in no-time.
Everyting about this hotel is very good.
There we go
* Splendid rooms (book the deluxe seaview) with the latest features
* Excellent beds
* Great roomservice (however, they can still work on their foreign languages, but that counts for most hotels in Spain)
* One of the nicest spa's I've ever seen. (Take a massage here; perfection)
* Enormous outside pools with great and attentive service
* Very good staff; remembering and trying to pronounce your name whenever and whereever they can
* Spotlessly clean all over the place
* Perfect location for beachlovers

We did not try the restaurant. They only have a brasserie (with a nice menu), but Valencia offers a huge number of restaurants in all categories.

Only one minor point. Of course one can count on nice prices in 5-star resorts like this, but paying almost € 60 for a double (blended!) whiskey and a gin-tonic can be considered somewhat over the top.

However, I can really recommand this place and we'll be back the next time we're in Valencia. Really "Leading" here all the way.

Its a 5 star "GL", which I have found from experience in Spain means genuine 5 star, a mere 5 star always seems to come up a bit short. This is a very good hotel indeed yet despite very charming staff (excellent concierge), it seems a little unsure of what exactly it is supposed to be. I think it is a business conference joint that just happens to double up as a good summer-weekend city-break place.

The root of this sclerosis is the "urban regeneration tax break" location. It is a 5 star resort in the middle of the docks area, that was tarted up for the America's Cup a few years ago. Though the hotel fronts onto a long beach to the left, beyond the harbour wall to the right is a container ship terminal with cranes etc everywhere. But don't worry, the orientation of the hotel is such that you'd be hard pressed to notice this unless you go out of the resort onto the beach and look the wrong way.

This being an old docks area, I did notice a lot of cop cars patrolling the beach area on a Sunday afternoon. Be careful with car parking around here. Pay up and park in the hotel. While walking along the beach, I noticed lots of guys running a car protection racket all along the beach parking area (all of the locals were paying up).

Superb rooms with quality bathrooms; most rooms with balconies overlooking the sea;free fast wifi; LCD tv's; free! (water/soft drinks) minibar; pillow menu. Excellent and stylish pool areas, indoor/outdoor/kiddies paddling and proper high diving area. Smart bar areas and restaurant. Great seaviews from covered veranda over the fountains to the sea. OK spa but a bit small for a hotel of this size. But there are no cosy bits to this hotels reception space, everything is on a large and impressive scale, e.g. check out the two Grecian temple conference structures at the front.

All in all, very good and a reasonable price (€200 dbl room no breakfast) - I would return if I was in Valencia, especially in the summer.

The centre of Valencia is about €7-10 cab ride away and was certainly a pleasant surprise with lots of elegant old buildings and delightful tapas bars. Nearby we ate at two fish centric restaurants in the fish restaurant "strip" 100m south of the hotel - Azahar was good and La Marcelina was slightly more expensive and slightly better.

We spend a week in this great hotel. We were with my parents age 70+.

The hotel is great situated if you want to stay close to the beach. To go to the old city is only 10 euro by taxi.

Nice great pool, not crowdy in high season and a childrens pool below (outside).
Nice and luxoury spa, which we did not use.

Rooms are great, also the city view room. The sea view was super, great view with chaise longes. We got a nice offer right from the hotel, which was much cheaper than booked by other travel agencies.
I think we got this offer, because the hotel is fully booked by business companies, after august.

Breakfast is great, you can sit in the garden or inside. Cava is included and you can ask for coffee how you like it.

Great is the free minibar; every day they refill it! Airco is also working; a compliment.

The only complaint is: the pool bar and Sorolla restaurant.
There is a small list of food, which is very expansive. Snacks or tapas are not on the list. A pity, because we wanted to stay the whole afternoon at the pool and being served for a reasonable price like Hilton, Meridien, Westin etc.
Also the drinks are expensive; a beer 7 euro, a glass of sangria 10 euro. Overpriced!!
Everybody at the pool brought their own drinks and food.
Tip: organize a daily small BBQ/tapas/and sell ice creams!!

The staff was very friendly and the customer support superbe!!

My wife and I stayed here for just two nights. I wished it could have been more. After spending 5 days sightseeing in Barcelona, I planned to just "chill out" at a nice beach resort. That's just what we did.
Wow, what a nice hotel. Beautiful in design, it has everything you can expect a 5 star hotel would have. Only complaint was that the shower needs pressure balancing valves because the water constantly goes hot and cold while showering. We didn't want to do any sightseeing so the isolated location, away from the city center, didn't matter to us. Plenty of taxis outside.
Hotel staff was very helpful and spoke excellent English. Well worth the price. Great pool! Interesting history of the hotel's location.

We stayed at Hotel Las Arenas Balneario Resort for 3 nights.

We had a great room overlooking the ocean. The room and beds were very comfortable. The bath was neat with the cool shower -- not sure that I would ever buy one for my home but it was a neat novelty and not too hard to figure out.

The best was the balcony off the room with a table, chair and two loungers -- we enjoyed breakfast outside as well as a couple of lunches. I noticed in the evening there were a few couples that were having romatic dinners on theirs -- looked great!

I was travelling with my 8 year old and after over 3 weeks of travel and sight-seeing we spent our time here kicking back and enjoying the HUGE pool and great beach access.

Breakfast was tasty -- 20 euro with kids for 10 euro. Not a bad price for a hotel breakfast. Lots of choices and included cava -- yum! We had dinner once at the hotel on the veranda over looking the grounds/ocean (make sure you make a reservation in advance for this). Food was very good and they really catered service wise to my daughter.

They gave great recommendations for dinner and help with reservations. We went to the aquarium/science museum -- great for kids. It was super hot the day we went - beware there is a lot of outdoor walking

The only compliant I would have (and it is a small one) is the room cleaning wasn't very timely any of the days we were that. But if that was super important to you I think you could call down to make sure that they do it while you are out of your room. Also, when ordering room service there was a bit of a language barrier - if you know a little spanish it would go a long way. But the front desk and bellmen spoke excellent english.

I almost was scared off by some of the reviews for this hotel -- the fountains were on during the weekend/evenings but not all the time -- I would hope this wouldn't impact your stay. And as for the architecture -- I didn't notice anything odd. I found the layout charming -- especially after seeing the old-time photos hung around the property from the early 1900's of the original footprint of the hotel. If anything the hotel is more like the open layout of what one would find at the larger properties I've visited in Scottsdale, AZ or California Coast -- large and open looking out to the ocean. Yes there is an expanse to get to the beach -- but hard to find anything else on that part of the coast of spain....the beach wasn't very important in the past for anything but shipping. With the crowds of people at the beach it is kinda nice being set-off a bit. Views are still great and you know you are at the beach!
