Having spent 75 days in Turkey, we were travelling home on a 20 day trip via various cities in Spain. This review reflects the overall trip in terms of value for money and activities undertaken on this trip, but also on others throughout Europe.
Good comms on booking and 10% deposit taken on c/c, which was okay. We took a taxi from the station, as there is a one way system in Valencia, but the cost was only 4€, so you can see the location is very good for old centre. Check in was friendly and informative. The reception is not 24 hours, and access is via telephone. We had a very big problem with our accommodation, and made 2 telephone calls to the owner, who came to see us. The problem was resolved, by moving to another apartment which overlooked a beautiful square to the front. This review is based on that apartment stay.
The apartment is beautiful, the view to the front is amazing. The square has bars and restaurants, but with the shutters closed, there was no noise. The church is beautiful, and the view of the 'rose window' from the juliet balcony is one of the most stunning views, we have ever had from an apartment. We saw a couple of weddings, including a horse and carriage transport for the bride. Also, a VW van - which was alternative but also interesting. The bathroom of this apartment, is actually the smallest house in Europe! Therefore, the apartment and you, if you are on the balcony, which I promise you will be, will be the subject of many people's photos.
Comfy sofa bed in rear sitting room, and balcony view to rear is very interesting for seeing the locals. TV had english music channel on. Wi fi signal not the strongest but useable.
Kitchen - well equipped but not enough worksurfaces. Bathroom - small (as expected from smallest house in Europe), towels good quality, nice toiletries. However, shower door was broken, so water came onto floor. (We were placed here at short notice, so that may have been overlooked by the owner). The biggest disappointment for us, were the beds. Just too soft and 1 pillow only. Not comfy at all.
I don't know what the cost of this apartment would be, but for what we paid, it was well worth the visit. The apartment is on the 2nd floor, and is reached by a small staircase. Not the easiest with suitcases, and also when tired after a busy days walking.
The apartment is beautiful and would receive 5/5 for location, building, history, views, charm etc.
Improvements for us would be: a) better beds, b) bathroom shower door fixed c) patio furniture on roof terrace - so for these reasons and because I don't know the cost we have given this a 4.
