For a short stay in the beautiful sunny city of Valencia we stayed at the Hospes Palau de la Mar. Previously we had stayed at the Hospes Amerigo in Alicante which is also a very nice hotel.
The Palau de la Mar hotel is an intimate, modern hotel situated on a quiet static lane. At the reception a few free drinks are offered. The room had nice dark wooden floors and closets and a spacious bathroom, separate shower and separate toilet. Later on there was a box of chocolate/nuts on our pillow which we're also very lovely. The beds were absolutely great!

The hotel also offers carparking which is quite expensive (about 22 euro a day).
Just a 10-15 minute walk and you're right in the middle of the city with it's lovely shopping streets, Cathedral and squares.
The hotel also has a spa and small swimmingpool but we didn't try that out. Maybe next time!..

This hotel has a great location, is clean, and has nice amenities, however, it is far from the quality one would expect for the price of the accommodations.

The rooms were nice because they were clean and well kept. Each room had a temperature control that was able to cool the room off quickly. The bathrooms had the sinks located outside of the shower and toilet area which allows for two people to use the bathroom simultaneously. The hotel is located only a few steps away from the bus stop that takes you to Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias. It is also a short distance from the city center where all the food and activity is.

The value of the hotel is its biggest flaw. There was no breakfast included in our rate, and we were told it was 15 euros per person. The first morning we decided to try it, but at breakfast we were charged 20 euros a person. The food was pretty good, but there was not enough variety and the quality was not what one would expect for 20 euros per person. The only coffee they had was from an instant coffee machine. The hotel also had a very limited workout room with only a few machines. The desk clerks were very nice, but they did not have a very good knowledge of the city and led us astray a few times. We were on the fourth floor and had a balcony that faced the street. The hotel lights shined directly into the sleeping area of the room. The last thing seems pretty trivial, but it was a nuisance none the less. The wifi required an username and password with each use. That means if your cellphone's display goes to sleep, you would have to relaunch your internet browser and sign in again before using the internet. The wifi would cut out frequently up on the fourth floor since we were slightly out of range, forcing us to step into the hall to use the internet. For a room that cost as much as it did, I expected a better overall experience.

We stayed for three nights for our first to Valencia. Was a little disappointed upon arrival as there was lots of building work which obscured the hotel, however once inside the atmosphere was wonderful. We got a warm welcome from reception and shown to our room promptly. We were impressed with the size of the room, we had more than enough space for the two of us, two sofas, two desks, two sinks! The bathroom was amazing with lots of storage and an amazing freestanding bath, plus lots of lovely beauty products. The only thing that was slightly disappointing for a suite was a lack of a docking station as we like to travel with our music. There was a CD player but not many people travel with CDs anymore! When we did ask about a docking station we were told CDs only which was a little disappointing for a boutique hotel. The gardens were wonderful for catching a late afternoon drink alongside the homegrown herbs and fruit. The location was perfect for getting about with only a 10 minute walk to the old town and staff were really good helping with transport to and from the airport. Dinner in the restaurant was really good, it was just very quiet and would have been nice had it been busier, but we got great service. All in all would recommend this to if you want contemporary luxury in close proximity to the old town.

Beautiful room, great breakfast (even though someone decided they could remove the only copy of the Only UK newspaper each am for their sole use). The staff were excellent & very helpful & the gardens beautiful. The only negatives- the 'pool' was a glorified bath, the bar tender disappeared frequently & had to be hunted & we had to sign back into the wifi every tie we used it....hence not a 5 star.

3.5 weeks into our Spain adventure and we splashed out on a little bit of luxury at Hospes Palau de la Mar. Very friendly service at the front desk on check in and quickly show to our room on the first level above the courtyard. Great bed, lovely bathroom and desk/table work space - good for the business traveller I guess.

It is easy to explore the old city from this location - the centre is any easy 15 min stroll - or you can walk a little further (30 mins) to the science and arts precinct with its amazing architecture.

We did not eat at the hotel (22 euro for b'fast was a bit too steep) but the restaraunt looked lovely and would make a lovely location for a special night out.

The hotel has a spa with all of the normal massage and beauty services but it also has a small indoor pool, steam rooms and gym which you can access for free.

We had two nights here and loved it. Would recommend if you want a little luxury in Valencia.
