“The most reliable tapas chain in Spain!”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

A Spanish friend introduced us to this restaurant chain. If in doubt, it's our go-to! The Valencia restaurant provided our most recent experience and lived up to our expectations! In a country where prices are keen and competitive, Lizarran offers exceptional value. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere lively. Waiters bring trays of hot specials around, crying out what they have on offer, to supplement the standard tapas on the bar. You just keep the toothpicks which hold your tapas together and they add them up to work out your bill. You'll want to just keep eating. If you visit any main town in Spain, I recommend you try Lizarran at least once!

“Incredible 1 euro tapas”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

It was my first experience in a restaurant like this.
you just sit down and wait for a bell to ring, then a waiter comes around you with different hot tapas, and you grab whatever you like, you just have to keep the tooth pick, they count them and they give you the check according to the number of toothpicks.
It was a Wednesday and apparently happy hour day: all beers and tapas 1 euro. So in 4 people we ate a very generous dinner ( I ate 8 tapas and 2 beers) for only 30 euros, amazing!!!

“Perfect for eating tapas and drinking beer”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Tapas are mini for € 1.25, normal for € 1,50 or special one's for € 1,90. Tapas are cold as well as hot (freshly cooked). Even if the tapas are really delicious, some of them are alredy dryed out.. But if you don't want them, you may choose others (of the very broad variety). The small beer is very cheap with only € 0,70! but bot only the tapas, also the menu del dia is a good choice (primera, secundo, dessert or coffee, one drink included). I would go there again, for sure.

“atmosphere! atmosphere!”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

A place to visit especially by night when the waiters run and shout while serving fresh tapas. The place is always full and hard to miss due to the noise :-) Don't be misled by the name and don't confuse this place with Lizarran at Convento Santa Clara street. It's a completely different place!

“"Chicos... muy ricos, calentitos, chicos..."”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

Normally, we boycott chains, but this one is consistently pretty good - cheap and cheerful...and can be quite fun. There are several branches of Lizarran in Valencia but we liked the personality of the one in Plaza Ayuntamiento, 8, between the Ayuntamiento and Plaza Reina Sofia. This branch is VERY Spanish! The staff shout out slogans like those in the header, each time a fresh plate of hot pinchos (tasty bits on a stick, on bread) are brought round to the tables for you to help yourself to whilst a cold selection are in display cabinets on the bar for self-service. Here, they serve mini hot dishes too... with a glass of wine or cider to wash it down. Most of the sticks are 1,50 euros each... and your sticks/dishes are tallied up at the end but if you are quite greedy you can end up paying between 20 and 25 euros a head but cheaper if you are more controlled!
