Literally translated as the round square, it is difficult today to imagine the bustling fish and meat market that was here when originally opened in the 1840’s. Following a restoration in 2012, it now houses some lace and gift shops, but has, perhaps, lost some of it’s character. Worth a look if passing nearby, the best view of the Plaza and surrounding apartments would be from an elevated viewpoint.

It is nice to visit it, quite in the middle of the city. It is one of the few old architectural attractions of Valencia.

This hidden gem is undergoing some restoration. There is a market specialising in haberdashery, dressmaking etc. Plus there are some lovely bars and restaurants.

Whilst doing our whistle stop tour of Valencia, which involved many miles of walking to take in all the key sites within a single day, we visited the Plaza Redonda to take in the architectural layout of this unusual ‘square’. The Redonda was very nice although slightly spoilt by the imposing shade which has been erected to shelter the numerous seamstress material vendors who seem to have overtaken the area. Overall still worth a visit although the visual appeal and impact could have been so much more
