“nice way to spend an hour or two”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

nice art museum set in a lovely park. Not the biggest collection but quality always beats quantity, worth checking out if you get a spare couple of hours

“Large collection of early paintings”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

The collection for early religious painting is quite extensive. There is also a room dedicated to Goya, and throughout the museum you can see some Murillo, Van Dyck, Bosch, Velazquez
Overall this museum is a gem, unfortunately, there are no audio guides, not even in Spanish, so do your homework before you go.

“Awful, mind numbingly so”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

If your idea of art is room upon room of gloomy sombre portrates of self satisfied individuals, or religeous icon type paintings featuring saints with uplifted faces - then this is the gallery for you. Theres hundreds of them, arranged without imagination, badly lit, each the same as its neighbour.

But this is a personal review, and quite frankly I found the place mind numbingly awful. Hells waiting room. Dont subject kids to this place, they will hate art for ever and have nightmares.

I wanted to see some of the works of Goya etc, but they were lost in the morass of other stuff. Shame because amongst the serried rows of awfulness there are one or two gems.
