“Well worth the time”

Although ceramics might sound boring to some tourists, this museum is so much more. Well preserved historic suites, interesting displays and don't miss the beautiful kitchen.

“Poorly curated museum a disappointing use for an amazing building”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

The main problems I have with this museum are the truly inadequate descriptions of the articles on display, a lack of informed staff to ask questions from, and the complete lack of context within which to understand the significance of individual pieces or the collection. As an absolute non-expert, I found that the very poor curation of the museum made it impossible to have any kind of impression of the relevance of the ceramics or other artworks contained within it, and I left feeling completely disappointed and uninspired. I don't know how people can claim the collection to be comprehensive given how poorly the overall historical context of Valencian ceramics is described inside. The facade of the exterior is worth a look, but I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to go inside.

“Incredible facade”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

Impressive building. Not sure if the outside decoration qualifies as beautiful but definitely intricate. Kind of a cross between the Magic Kingdom and macramé! Inside there is a history of Valencian ceramic design, with particular emphasis on the Moorish influence. Lovely mock up of a sample 18th century kitchen. A bit repetitive but the tour improves greatly when you get to the living areas of the Ducal family who designed and constructed the building. The tapestry, furniture and paintings all beautiful. Free Sunday, 3 euros otherwise.

“Great museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

The ceramics museum is located in the Palacio of the Marques of Dos Aguas (an amazing building) and contains a fascinating and very comprehensive collection of ceramics from antiquity to present day, including a large section of Valencian ceramics.
