Just returned from a weekend away in Valencia. We stayed in the old town in the Melia Paza hotel. Centrally located and close to all amenities / cathedral etc..
I picked this hotel because it had a gym and more importantly a spa with sunbathing area on roof top terrace... a little bit small up there but exactly what i was looking for..
rooms are very good .. very clean and comfortable beds..
the only reason I haven't given this hotel a five star was the breakfast.. it was just OK.. but what put me off was the price... 18 euros per person... absolutely not worth anything over 9 euros max .... so it put me off and i ended up going to cafe below hotel and having breakfast for 5 euros... otherwise fab hotel well worth the money

We stayed for 3 nights from 27 September in a classic twin room on the 10th floor with a balcony overlooking the main and side street. It was very peaceful, no road noise at all. Their buffet breakfast was to die for, even served smoked salmon which I have not come across in a 4 star hotel before. The location was central and everything was within walking distance. The only disappointment was that their restaurant opens at 8.30 pm, as we wanted to try their renown paella, it was too late for us as we normally eat around 6.30-7.00pm. But it does open for lunch, but we were too busy touring. I would be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

The hotel is a good standard for a city centre. Best was the location. Smallish room overlooking a well, but friends room (who were only staying for one night as opposed to our 2) got a much bigger room with juliette balcony overlooking the square! Quite impersonal and not particularly helpful reception staff. Didn't use the food facilities as there was so much to choose from outside. The worst experience was the rooftop jacuzzi which was extremely dangerous with slippery tiles. I had a nasty fall, bruising my arm and back and resulting In ongoing problems with my foot involving several hospital trips when I returned to the uk.. When I asked for the accident to be recorded in the accident book they said they didn't t have one - this is an international hotel chain! They told me to note it on my comments form when leaving, but no-one has ever contacted me since.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not overlooking the dark well

We were given the name of this hotel by a friend for its location and he was so right. It's so easy to walk to the centre. However the bus stops just outside and costs only 1.50 per person to go right round the city. We spent four days in Valencia. There are so many things of interest to visit in the city but when we saw the beach!!!!!!!!!!! we HAD to spend our last day there. It's incredible you can walk along the beach for two hours non stop it's so long. Must be one of the nicest beaches in the world. The hotel ,4 star, is very clean and the food was very good. A lovely breakfast buffet in the morning. Staff all very ptofessional, but with very little english. The women waiting staff were not very pleasant, especially the waitress in the evening, she was very abrupt. We took the double decker tourist bus on two days to various attractions, it's the best way to get around Valencia. Beware of the taxis, from the airport the timer said 21.50 euro and he asked for an extra 10 euro for the luggage!!!!!!!!! Coming back to the airport we were only charged 12.50. The first one must have done some kind of detour. The city itself is very busy and cosmopolitan, the pavements are not very clean, it doesn't rain there very much obviously. With so much traffic it is better to find bars and restaurants off the main streets away from the traffic and exhaust pipes. It was very hot when we were there and airconditioning was on everywhere in every shop and bar, it was lovely to get back ouside again into the heat. We found ourselves all with colds and sore throats after a while. Wouldn't advise drinking the 'acqua di Valencia'. Should be a vodka and orange but it seems to be just a watery orange drink. We would definitely return to hotel Melia Plaza and Valencia. The position is very recomendable. We still have so many places to visit. The huge Magnolia trees in the private gardens are incredible - they are ENORMOUS: We never got near enough to get some fotographs. We visited the museum of the toy lead soldiers which was very, very good and well worth visiting.

Very good rooms, helpful staff, good restaurant with esplanade. And the location ... cannot be better. Wherever you go, however you want to get there, you are in one the best starting point.
It's pretty, it's full of life, it's not far from the business locations (if you're working), and at night there is no noise, because night life is 15 minutes away by cab.

The hotel room was quite comfortable but small. There was a small balcony with a chair and sun lounger. Views from the room were more to the side than onto the main square with the Town Hall. Very conveniently placed with only a couple of minutes walk to the Cathedral and were we caught the hop on hop off bus tours of the beautiful city. We had tapas in a small restaurant close to the hotel but were surprised when we came back to the hotel's bar for a couple of drinks before bed that the tapas in the hotel were actually cheaper. The drinks were awesome and the lady serving in the bar was very helpful and extremely cheerful. We asked for a travel adapter and were told there didn't have any. First time I've ever had this response. I want to make special mention to the concierge at the front desk who was ever so helpful. We messed up where we parked for the hotel and he came out and drove the car to the front entrance, unloaded our cases and took the car to the car park. When we were checking out he brought our car to the front door and gave us superb directions on how to get onto the road to Alicante. A huge thank you to him.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the main square would be a must.

We stayed here for a weekend at the beginning of September, and we would definitely recommend it.

We travelled from Alicante by train, and the hotel was a 5 min walk from Valencia Nord and 10 mins from Sirolla stations. The location couldn't have been better. It was in the heart of the main square, and in summary if you go left from the hotel you are in th old town, and if you go right you are in the shopping district.

The hotel itself is lovely, check-in was quick and pain free. Our room although not big, was spacious enough with everything you needed. We were in the 7th floor, and the only downside was that we were overlooking another building at the back of hotel.

I would definitely stay here again, and ok'd recommend the hotel for location, quality and price.
