Everything was super about this hotel - had a premium room and it was lovely. Wifi was a bit unreliable in the room The reception staff were superb and went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is close to the main restaurant area and the science museum - a little way from the old town and beach. The room cost was really good value - the only black mark was the cost for breakfast - 40 Euros for two people - good quality but I really dont want to spend 40 Euros when I only eat cerial, fruit a coffee and a juice each! Overall though completely recommended - just take breakfast elesewhere

Whilst this hotel was in a good location, within walking distance of both the old town and the City of Arts and Science, we were disappointed with both the quality of the accommodation and with the customer service.

Our room was a little tired looking, with very dark wood and dated decor. Although the bathroom was lovely and big, I'm not sure that it compensated for the room overall. During our stay, we noticed that not once was our carpet vacuumed (in six days), and the cleaners continued to give the impression they were doing a less than thorough job: on one occasion, we found that cleaning cloths had been left behind the door. On another, the pillow cases had not been put back on the bed's pillows, just left on the chair. In addition, our toilet paper was consistently not replaced, so that we had to keep asking reception for some. They were only minor things, but it did make us feel that we weren't staying in a five star hotel.

We'd chosen the hotel because whilst it was still relatively close to the centre, it also had a pool, which we were looking forward to relaxing by after a day of sightseeing. It was a little disappointing to discover not only was there nowhere to buy drinks near the pool, but that alcoholic drinks were banned. There also never seemed to be any towels - a sign on the desk directed you to the wellness centre is no towels were available (which they weren't), but there also never seemed to be anyone available at the wellness centre either, with a sign there explaining they were busy doing treatments. When we called down to reception to ask where we could get some towels, we were told, rather unhelpfully, to find a maid and ask for some. When this happened a second time a few days later, my boyfriend popped down to reception to complain - the receptionist replied that she did not personally have any towels and could not help. Again, this made us question the five star rating - the customer service felt non-existent at times.

Overall, we had a great holiday, and the hotel made a good base - but it's not one which we'd return to - it's not a 5 star hotel in terms of accommodation or service, and the hotel is definitely in need of a revamp. If we had our time again, we'd forgo the pool and look for something a little more modern.

Room Tip: For around ten Euros a night more, it would be well worth investing in a superior room - they're...

This is an excellent hotel in a great location.

The staff on reception, conceierge and in the bar are very friendly and helpful indeed.

The rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean with comfy beds, plenty of wardrobe/draw space and nice fixtures and fittings.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Within walking distance of the main town centre and easy walking distance to bars, cafes and restaurants. The hotel is on the edge of the old river bed which is lovely for walks.

You can also walk to the beach from the hotel (about 45minutes) but there are also busses which stop very close the hotel.

All in all and excellent stay, we will definately be back.

Unfortunately there were only traces left of what was probably a beautiful five-star hotel: for example, our standard double corner room and adjoining bath tract was large. The hotel’s location was the only other plus point: not far from the old part of town and adjacent to Valencia’s extraordinary Turia park.

The bedroom furnishings badly needed to be replaced – the armchair was ready for the flea market, the desk chair was also uncomfortable, the information about the hotel outdated and incomplete, the mattress was worn-out and responsible for our not getting the rest we’d hoped for. Carpets were threadbare both in the room and in the expansive corridors.

And the breakfast buffet was horrible – the fruit was inedible and the coffee tasted burnt. We’re no fans of buffets in general and hope that this fashion will soon begin to be replaced by ordering a la carte.

My husband was certainly disappointed when told by reception staff (there were no other guests and both behind the desk didn’t seem as if they had a lot to do) after returning from dinner that he should call room service himself for a large bottle water. Only a little point, granted, but adding to our “that’s what they call five-star service?” feeling.

We’re aware of the economic crisis in Spain and the hardships that hotels are going through. While a complete renovation of this hotel is probably beyond the budget of the Melia chain right now, changing the breakfast buffet to a la carte and then paying attention to offering only quality ingredients would be a start. And reducing the rating from a five-star to a three-star would at least avoid unrealistic expectations. We booked the room through an internet wholesaler and thus didn’t pay much for our room, but would’ve been willing to pay more for more quality in all aspects. At least upon check-in the recommendation we got for dinner was great – we had the best dinner and the best paella of our week in Valencia at the Racó del Turia.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are large - if only they replaced the worn-out furnishings.

We stayed just 1 night at the Valencia Palace before moving down the coast to a villa. We wanted to re-visit the Old Town, which we'd had a short visit to previously & also see the Science Centre. The Hotel was ideally situated for both (approx. 15 mins walk.)

On arrival, we were very impressed with the ambience of the place, & the reception staff were extremely pleasant & helpful. The room was excellent - spacious, nicely furnished & quiet, although as has been mentioned before, tea/coffee making facilities would have made it perfect!

The one downside was the bed! I read a previous review praising the comfort of the bed. Well - it must have been quite different from ours, as we had an extremely firm mattress which I found pretty uncomfortable. I know a lot of people favour a firm mattress, but this was just a little too firm in my opinion.

Other than the above - a really great hotel in a great location & for what we paid, terrific value.

Room Tip: Parking below the hotel cost 16 euros per night, but if you can get a space on the opposite side of...

Very nice and modern hotel at 700m of the historic city center.

Having been here several times, and never been disappointed, except by the expensive WiFi. Luckily they changed the policy and customers can get free WiFi now.

The rooms are spacious and clean equiped with comfortable beds and good pillows. If you don't like soft and fluffy pillows, you can ask for harder ones.

They breakfast is fantastic: there is a large choice in the buffet and a cook who will make you eggs the way you want it.
Don't hesitate to ask the waitress for an (double) expresso, a capuccino, lait russe,... if you don't like the american coffee ;)

The staff is very friendly and all of them speak Spanish and English.

We stayed for 3 nights on a Travelzoo deal, a real bargain trip as the hotel was everything you could wish for.

Ideally placed for the old part of the town - just a stunning walk along the old river bed, leaving at the Trinidad bridge to get you right into the heart of the city. Or turn left, you'll be within walking distance of the arts and sciences area. Worth a walk too.

Standard rooms are squeaky clean, adequate in size and ours was very quiet. (my only grumble and it's only a minor thing - no tea/coffee tray)

What can you say about breakfast? There was everything you could possibly want, the dining room not overcrowded, the maitre d' very pleasant.

Staff were great, friendly, smiling and helpful, even at 0530 in the morning as we checked out.

No complaints at all, we thoroughly enjoyed our last minute bargain trip and the hotel added to a lovely break.

Disabled access was good - I noticed stair lifts and the lifts themselves would accommodate a wheelchair. Corridors are wide without steps. (Guess what my job is!)

We would stay there again with no hesitation.

Room Tip: We had room 537 at the back of the hotel - we never heard a sound from anyone else. If you want an...
