“Great Paella negra. reasonable price”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

During a Mediterranean cruise we stopped in Valencia and I found this restaurant on tripadvisor. I really wanted to eat a typical Spanish Paella. I am so glad we found this place. The Paella was outstanding made fresh to order for us. We ate the Paella negra with alioli on the side.
While we were at Canela I noticed that a lot of locals placed the paella pan on the table and ate right from the pan (rather than serving the paella onto a plate they eat right from the pan) also be sure to ask for the little wooden spoons that they use to eat the paella. (you have to ask as they didn't offer us one)

“Best service in Spain, good paella Valenciano at a high, but comparatively reasonable price”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Had paella Valenciano for our entree which is what you want to try. Oddly paella Valenciano is not seafood but with chicken and rabbit. We started with picadillos rellenos de mariscos which were rather large for a starter. Service was extraordinary for Spain. They were very helpful and spoke English Spanish and Italian. Good for those visiting Valencia. Food was overall very delicious and worth every penny.

“Great find! Fantastic meal and value.”
Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

We found the place by accident on a recent visit to Valencia. Had average meals up to then and really wanted a nice authentic paella. We were not disappointed!

Had a couple of starters first, stuffed peppers and deep fried Camembert, both gorgeous. Then the paella came, thought we weren't going to finish it at one point but it was so lovely we had to! The price was amazing for 2 and a bottle of wine for 50 euros, great value but we would of gladly paid more. So pleased we found it and left Valencia happy.

“Great paella, friendly staff, full of locals”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

We had tried the usual paella places at the port, including the much-touted Pepica (which was very good, but overpriced), early on in our stay. La Canela was recommended by a local as his personal favorite for paella in Valencia, and we were not disappointed. They actually have two locations on the same street only a few doors down from each other next to the Torres de Quart. Both the food and service were excellent, especially when considering we arrived for lunch without reservations on a busy weekend. We had the paella valenciana, which is not the seafood one served in so many places, but the traditional local one with pieces of chicken and rabbit that is still the best rice dish we've had in Spain. For food this good, it's almost petty to mention price, but it's worth remembering that it was much better than the stuff at the port and also much cheaper.
