“Great location, good staff”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights with my daughter and our cousin.

This hotel has a good location for getting easily to most of the old quarter of the centre of Valencia. Plaza del Raina is a couple of minutes walk away, with the Cathedral a couple of minutes beyond that, other places like the Central Market, silk museum etc are 10-15 mins walk at most. So it's very well-placed for looking at some of the best of Valencia. One real "wow" factor it has, which no other hotel can boast, is that it is directly beside the amazing Museo de Ceramica, a stunning rococo palace (which, incidentally, is also very good and inexpensive to visit inside). We had a room with a small balcony which faced the front of this incredible building - we emailed ahead and asked for this specially, having read previous reviews.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and decently sized, especially considering that you're unlikely to be spending too much time in them. A mini-bar is provided which was very useful as a fridge to chill our water and some milk for our tea (this being Spain, tea/coffee facilities are not provided in the room so bring your own travel kettle if, like us, you like a cup of tea in bed before you get up for the day). The bathroom was nice and clean with plenty of hot water.

On arrival, we were shown our rooms which, responding to my requests, the hotel staff had kindly allocated on the 3rd floor very near each other and both with balconies facing the ceramics museum. Our room was fine, unfortunately my daughter's room had a very unpleasant cabbage/toilet odour which I suspect was coming from some faulty old pipes somewhere in the bowels of the hotel and was unlikely to go away. To their credit, the staff immediately offered another room on the same floor; unfortunately it was on a different side of the hotel so no view of the ceramics museum, but that couldn't be helped.

The hotel itself is fairly attractive inside, I think it's a fairly old (late 19th century?) building which has been slightly modernised but still has some original features. The lift/elevators were interesting - as the door shuddered slowly open, you wondered whether it would actually get you to your destination (it did). Also they're quite small & can't take a huge amount of weight - 4 of us got in with 2 suitcases and it wouldn't start until I got out and took the stairs, and I'm not that heavy!

We had a couple of other problems. One day our air conditioning unit decided it wanted to drip water all over our floor. The receptionist came with a towel to catch the drips, no mention of when or if it might get fixed. After she left I "adjusted" the unit so it drained properly and we didn't have the problem again. Another source of fun & games was the regular power cuts that only seemed to affect our room. We had 4 one day. I'd ring reception, the receptionist would go somewhere and reset some trip switch and it would all come back until the next time. We thought it was quite funny and I felt a bit sorry for the receptionists who had to run up 3 floors every time, but it could be quite annoying for someone else.

The only staff we met were 3 young ladies on reception at different times and they were excellent. They all spoke very good English (a rarity in Valencia, unlike Barcelona) and they were friendly and pleasant and always wanted to try and help.

The hotel has a cafe/bar attached to it with a nice ground floor terrace facing the ceramics museum. You can eat breakfast there but the buffet breakfast was 30 euros which was a bit rich for my blood. We used to go out of the hotel, turn right and walk down the side street with the ceramics museum on your left and after a minute or two came to a fantastic little cafe/bakery at the junction with the main road. There are so many great places to get a good lunch or dinner in Valencia, you don't really need a huge breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel gave us exactly what we needed - a comfortable, well-located base for exploring this beautiful city, at a good price. We got the added bonus of a fantastic view out of our window too! The hotel has its quirks but nothing that would upset your holiday. I'd definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Museo de Ceramica - we had 319, it was fine.

Stayed hear for one night as a stop over to watch football with my family. Hotel was recommended to me by a friend. It is a very stylish place with nice rooms. Superb location close to bars, restaurants and places of interest in old Spanish quarter - still a very peaceful quiet location. We paid Euro 88 per room which I thought was very good value. On the downside there wasn't any tea and coffee making facilities in the room but found a nice little bar selling coffees and croissants close by. Would definitely stay hear again.

We stayed in this hotel only for 2 nights but in my ooinion it was enough to sped in valencia.
Hotel itself is located in old city so you can walk aroud and discover with no problems. However it took ages to check in 3 rooms. I was impressed that receptionist had a such a low level of English. Rooms were really nice and clean however AC worked really slow. Wi-fi was for free so it was a gret thing to check the best restaurants and all. Unfortunately all restaurants are open from 8 or 9 oclock so after breakfast you can find only tapas.
Overall we had a great stay in this hotel, and special thanks to Rosa and Oscar for upgrading us to deluxe rooms. I recommend this hotel for sure.

Me, my husband and couple of friends spent in this hotel 2 nights. Hotel is located in the old city, close to all attractions like: cathedral, plazas, etc. Building looks really impressive. It fits to the architecture around. Reception area also is nice. However, Receptionist – extremely slow. It took ages to check us in. We could not understand why she could not take from us our passports and fill everything later, just give us the key to the room. Many hotels do it and give ID’s or passports at later stage. Our room was very spacious but our air condition was working really slowly. It took a day before the temperature was acceptable for sleeping. We had flat TV, fridge, plenty of space and huge bed. However, the quality of the furniture destroys the impression. They are simply old. They want to create a feeling that you are in top quality hotel but those furniture make you thinking, you are not. Staff is very helpful. We visited Biopark (really nice place but not in August), walked through old city (really nice in the evenings), Oceanographico (well, very expensive for what they offer, better to save money for Aquarium in Tampa, on Florida), Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (very nice architecture but after dusk no lights, I am not sure if Valencia saves money or what is the problem, so if you plan photos in the evening, do not bother to go there). The only problem we found, was: restaurants. We wanted to eat something at 6pm. but we could not find any opened restaurant. Nobody is “tapas” fan so we ended up eating fruits and waiting till restaurant will open at 8 or 9pm. Close to the hotel is located La Riua restaurant. Food is excellent. They open at 9pm. and their Paella Valenciana is fantastic. Generally I can recommend this hotel because of the location but try to buy it as a deal.

We stayed here for 5 nights during our first ever visit of Spain. I did quiet a lot reasearch before hand on the accomodation premises in eachtown we intended to visit and reviews of Sh Ingles Hotel in Valencia, got it fully right. The hotel is greatly located in the heart of old down, its a great base to walk to all sights of Valencia. We were getting a bus just for the beach & City of Arts and Sciences. There are few Bus stations very close around the hotel. There is great cafe for breakfast a minute from the hotel. The room was spacious, with king size double bed and small balcony overlooking the grandeous Palace which is also a museum of ceramics. Valencia is lovely town and SH Ingles is lovely hotel. I would warmly recommend it.

5 min walk from old Valencia adjoining the fantastic facade of the museum of ceramics. Four star boutique hotel
Large room of non descriptive modern decoration. Lovely terrace and restaurant . Mini bar, bathrobes, hair dryer and air conditioner . Parking nearby ( 18€ overnight if cash).
Had to leave the outdoor restaurant because we could not get the attention if the waitress ( when she was there ) although there was few customers and i had gone to the desk twice to ask for a waitress. No effort was made to find me a beauty parlor (manicure) in the area . It turns out there was one one street over .
Room 321 is bright and cheery with 2 windows and a small balcony and of delightful view of a baroque facade. Very private .

Room Tip: Room 321 i think the best room as far as privacy and view.

it's totally old looking, great bathroom, pretty well located, I think the bed is comfortable but my friend does not, you can totally hear the hallway and the people in the next rooms so bring earplugs, oh and it's that weird wifi where you have to sign in with a different password everyday
