“Short break”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

The Hotel is in an ideal location right on the sea front, all the rooms have a seaview and are quite big.
We where staying halfboard and found the food ok with a selection of fish or meat dishes every night. We found it odd that they didn't have a wine list on the tables and only asked if you wanted a glass or bottle of the house red or white. Saying that, the wine was alright and at 6 euros a bottle you can't moan.
The hotel had a bar but we never saw a barman or a customer in it! Bars have to have ambience!
The only negative thing I could say about this hotel is the number of sunbeds around the pool only 6 when the hotel has about 50 rooms, therefore the pool was not being used much and the cafe by the pool was mostly empty.
Overall this is a nice hotel in a very good location but I believe it could be managed better, maybe less cafe area making more room for sunbeds, and they need to have a wine list I am sure they would make more money.

Stayed first week September. Room 501. Fabulous room(very modern) even though it was a the gable end. Large balcony. Great views even though only partial. We were initially concerned about room choice. Thankfully the hotel gave us Room 501 as it was peacefull, quiet and no noise from the pool/bar area(it had entertainment at weekends and familys all day) and it had uninterupted sun from approx 14.00hrs till sunset which was a great bonus. It allowed us to walk all over the beautiful working Spanish town of Vilajoiosa in the morning, enjoying the friendly locals, good food, beer, wine all very reasonably priced.

A beach to die for, totally accessable to all, spotlessly clean literally in front of the Allon Hotel with Umbrellas,Sun beds & tables for 2 people, all for 13 euros per visit.
Food in the hotel restaurant we did not sample apart from breakfast which had a reasonable choice but got repititious. Some quality issues with hot & cold drinks.Staff very efficient. It has the usual Spanish hotel issue of luke warm hotplate food from what should be a HOT buffet breakfast. I cannot understand how they get away with lukewarm food (from a temperature control point of view) as I know the legislation in the UK and this would not be allowed. Food in the Bar area was mediocore at best and would not recommend it. There are some great local spots to dine at, right on the hotels door step, once again value for money and a good selection for all tastes and wallets.
Housekeeping staff excel at quality control at the Hotel Allon making the room a stay very pleasent experience (Thanks to all Housekeeping Staff)
Reception, on arrival the welcome was not so good which is disappointing as they are the face of the Hotel Allon the first impression was not good,to be fair the language barrier does not help as we do not speak Spanish. This impression changed as the week continued as a nice smile does go a mile and we did find most of the reception staff to be great.
We would not hesitate from recommending this hotel. Rooms are stunning and we feel priced well.Though a small table on the balcony would be good + a sunbed in the hotel rooms with the large balconies as we would be ok with a small charge for this.
It is a quiet laid back resort and not a Benidorm. So good books, good music on your i pod and this is heaven.
We will definately be back.
PS GREAT A/C in all rooms

Room Tip: Go for rooms on 5th & 6th floors but not rooms over looking the carpark as it looks like a bomb...

Just needed a quick break to have a rest and re-charge the batteries and so thought that a trip to Spain would fit the bill.
We like the area north of Benidorm around Altea but couldn't seem to find what we wanted and then stumbled across, on the internet, The Allon Mediterannia and thankfully we did as the the stay with them was very relaxing and just what we were looking for.
We booked the break through Easyjet Holidays and this was by far the most cost effective way of staying at this hotel. Previous reviews had rated it well and so went ahead.
The hotel is quite new and spotlessly clean with the room itself being very comfortable indeed and maintained in the same manner throughout our stay. The bathroom had the best shower I've had in Spain at any hotel and not at all a problem that there was no bath as showering is our preference.
The staff were absolutely excellent and nothing was too much trouble and the reception staff always friendly with a smile for you at all times. It has to be said that the hotel was very quiet, being just after the Easter period but for us this was fine. We were leaving for the airport on our checking out day well before the breakfast room was open but the staff set out the buffet early for us and this not something many hotels would do.
The food was very good but not what we were expecting. This is not meant as any complaint against the hotel as the quality was, as I say, very good and I will explain.
Amazingly, it was cheaper to go on this break full board than half board, so naturally we took that option. Easyjet had stated clearly in their profile of the hotel that the meals were of a buffet style and a good deal of choice on offer and with many of the reviews stating the quality was good then this was another tick for booking. However, as the hotel was so quiet, you cannot blame the hotel for not putting out a large buffet choice as not all of the guests were eating in the hotel. Instead they offered a menu of the day and this gave a good choice of starter, main and dessert, with each dish prepared on order. The only slight issue was that the lunch menu wa exactly the same as dinner each day and did then restrict the choice but again, what we had was of a good standard. Breakfast was buffet style and very good indeed.
I did actually take the matter of the lack of a buffet service with Easyjet and they within 24 hours agreed to pay us some compensation and I have to say we were very impressed with their quick response and no quibble positiveness towards us, their customers. Other holiday companies take note!
All in all a very nice relaxing break, the hotel is right on the beach and a nice beach as well. As for Villajoyosa, well there's not much to it at all and indeed a bit disappointing but the plus point is the excellent tram service that serves that coastline from Alicante up to, I think Denia. We visited our beloved Altea so easily by using the tram, which has a frequent and very inexpensive reliable service. The trams are very clean and modern and each of our 2 journeys 2 young boys gave up their seats for the benefit of my wife in order that she could sit down. How refreshing to see some politeness and respect, don't think that would happen here anymore.
I would certainly recommend this hotel but mainly for couples seeking a relaxing break.

Stayed for eight warm sunny days in May to escape the continuous UK rain. Check-in took a little time but you only do it once and the reception staff were friendly and helpful as they were throughout our stay. The hotel is in its second year and is very modern in appearance with lots of stainless steel and blue tinted glass. The rooms are larger than average for holiday hotels and we found the beds to be firm but comfortable.Being only a few paces from the blue flag sandy beach provided wonderful seaviews from our room.

Lots of 'mood-lighting' in the room - swan neck pencil bedside lamps, downlighters beneath the bedside tables, blue led strip lights behind the bed, a flat screen TV - we only switched it on for the weather forecast but fans of UK soaps will be disappointed with the channels on offer. Shower room was fine with large shower cubicle, choice of shower heads, everything worked, hot water always available and black tiles everywhere but exponents of the bidet will be disappointed by its absence. The room was made-up every day without fail and was spotlessly clean as was the entire hotel.

Others have commented on breakfast and I have to agree regarding the strange coffee flavours but the tea was fine with a good choice of teabags available. A good choice of cereals, fruitjuices, cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruits was on offer along with cooked 'English' breakfast items. Why the bacon and eggs are lukewarm when they are on heated trays and under heat lamps must remain an unsolved mystery but overall we were quite happy with our breakfasts.

Having booked on a half board basis we could have lunch in place of dinner, but since this needed 24 hours notice it was not always a convenient option. During about half of our stay dinner was self service buffet style - lots of choice and plenty to eat. On the rest of the evenings we had table service from a menu as there were insufficient guests to warrant a buffet. This was excellent as we were served freshly cooked, high quality dishes which were very well presented. Dinner service does not commence until 8.30pm as is traditional in the country and this suited us fine since lunch is also served later than in the UK and often goes on well into the afternoon - well ours did anyway. Lots of 'menus del dia' available in the town's bars from about 7 euros upwardsfor three courses, wine included. We received unfailingly friendly service in these establishments even though our command of the language is limited. A large glass of very drinkable red wine costs around 1-2 euros if you just call in for a drink

Regarding the remainder of the hotel's services, the swimming pool and terrace are very attractive but relatively small and I would imagine things might get crowded at peak times. Didn't go into the fitness room but noted that it had limited opening hours - early morning fitness fanatics might be disappointed. Unusually there is no staircase from reception to upper floors other than the external spiral fire escapes so those with a phobia of lifts (elevators for transatlantic friends) had better beware. We did see someone use the fire staircase so presumably the fire doors are not fitted with alarms.

Overall my wife and I were very pleased with this hotel and hope to stay there again soon.

Villajoyosa is a gem. A working Spanish town with local shops, market and bars, the old Moorish quarter, a long sandy beach and working fishing harbour. Good tram and bus services can take you to places such as Alicante, El Campello, Denia, Altea, Calpe, Benidorm all for reasonable fares. Enjoy it , and don't forget to visit one of the chocolate factories in the town whilst you are there !!

Had a short break here over Easter. The Hotel is in a fantastic position on the seafront. The Staff very friendly. Large room with good size balcony, all rooms are facing the sea. Loved Villajoyosa itself. Nice promenade and harbour, great places to eat. Would definately go again. The only negative was the night club that was near the hotel, opened until early hours of the morning on the Friday & Saturday that we were there, lots of noise but perhaps we should have joined in.

Room Tip: All sea view rooms, but chose one further away from the night club.

Lovely hotel on a beach front location but not easy to find!
The check in was overlong given that they had all the details online. Why so many pieces of unnecessary paperwork? A rather dated system for such a modern hotel.Needs sharpening up.
Access to wi fi was also unnecessarily complicated. We had to take the laptop down to reception for the staff to log us on.....

Stayed in Villajoyosa on a business trip just outside the main summer season, and had a great stay over 3 nights. All members of the board were very satisfied:

* Great location at the beach-front
* Service minded staff with good english skills
* Spacious single rooms (same rooms as for double use)
* Great selection at breakfast
* Cheap compared to a very high standard

Would definetly like to return to Allon Mediterrania, thanks for a great stay!
