Ugh....the first thing we saw as we entered the room was a stained sheet, obviously the couple the night before had a good night. Our cabin smelt musty like your grandma's house, it obviously isn't aired regularly, the facilities are very basic and poorly put together for the money. On the plus, it's close to Auckland and quiet.

I have been there with three other girlfriends. We spend a Saturday night in a six beds cabin. I did not know at first what I should expect... And I was glad to see a cabin, with table, kitchen, fridge, sink... Everything to have our own kitchen without needed to go in the common kitchen. The toilets and showers were also clean and close from our cabin. Both of us really enjoyed our stay there.

Be careful : the office closes at 8pm.

Room Tip: Always ask to have "the cheapest accommodation for xx people".

We lived our stay at Avondale Motor Park and we stayed in one of the cabins. They were very well equipped, the park grounds are immaculate. Linda and Mike are always there to help. We highly recommend this camp park - the last one in Auckland.

We stayed for 4 nights in a cabin while attending a conference nearby. The cabin was very clean and tidy and the heater kept us warm, and the hot water didn't run out! The owners were very helpful and gave us extra blankets as the weather was cold. We would have liked a larger cabin to accommodate a third person, but this wasn't available so the owners kindly supplied us with a camp stretcher for our friend. At short notice they also supplied linen and in the end didn't charge us for this.
I would be very happy to stay here on another occasion. Many thanks.

We stayed for three nights, one night in the tourist cabin and two in one of the two bedroomed cabins. The tourist cabin was clean, well-stocked with equipment and perfectly adequate. The two bedroomed flat was absolutely lovely with wooden walls, comfortable furniture and a lovely little kitchenette. The communal facilities, although admittedly we didn't use them a great deal as our cabins saw to most of our needs, appeared to be of a good quality. The campsite was by far the cheapest we could find in Auckland and we felt it was very good value for money. Its a short drive into town or an easy train ride from the station about 10 mins walk away.

But by far the best thing about this campsite was the warm, welcoming lovely managers Linda and Mike who are relatively new to the campsite. We were having a stressful few days as we were getting ready to leave NZ after 10 months of being here and were trying to tie up loose ends. Mike and Linda really went above and beyond to help us out and made our last few days in NZ so much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this campsite!

Room Tip: Definitely worth upgrading to the wooden panelled two bedroom cabins if you can afford it.

We stayed for quite a few nights in a tent at this campsite. It wasn't possible to book a tent pitch ahead of arrival as the sites are unmarked. The tent site is on a slight slope so it is quite hard to find a level pitch. It is also the other end of the site from the facilities.

The location of the site is not fantastic. There is a large supermarket within walking distance but nothing else really unless you take the train/bus in to the city or walk to New Lynn (about 40 minutes).

The facilities are pretty good (and open all night) including the massive laundry. Despite the site being full for a number of the days we stayed, there were no queues for either the showers (free and always hot) or the kitchen.

The only other thing was that there didn't appear to be anywhere to recycle waste.

Despite some of the negative comments above, I would stay in the campsite again but mainly due to a lack of decent budget alternatives in Auckland.
