La Mata used to be a nice little resort, but unfortunately it has lost of a lot its charm, it used to be a very Spanish area, with great little restaurants and tapas bars. Now unfortunately it is full of British and Danish tourist with the bars catering to their national tastes, the Spanish charm has gone.

We are lucky enough to have a holiday home not far from this lively resort!
Vela Beach Restaurant is a must where the service and perfect food, dining experience is a must! Do book before going as it can get very busy but worthe it

Such a long sandy beach with an amazing boardwalk. Sea really lovely with waves to make it exciting. It has lots of cafes; ice cream parlour and amenities close by. Central location with a good bus service to local towns. Very safe area. I have been here over the past number of years and have seen no crime in all this time.

We loved this beach.
On a beautiful morning it’s great to stroll along the boardwalk and promenade, stopping off for breakfast by the beach on the way. Vela beach is huge with lots of restaurants and bars on the beach catering for all tastes. A light breeze is most welcome on scorching days.
We have been here on most months as the weather in this part of Spain has a microclimate, so you are almost guaranteed hot sunny days from April through to the end of October.
Winter too us usually bright, though a little bit cooler at night. If you like walking there are lots of coastal paths, two large salt lakes and parks. Something for every level of fitness.

La Mata Beach, is worth packing up your bags and spending the whole day at.
With a stunning beach, clean and safe to swim, with a huge variety of restaurants, with a choice of tapas to fine dining.

All the Beaches link with a lovely board walk, where you can sit and people watch if you wish, and you can go into the natural park for some shade if you like too, with lovely waterfalls and birds.

I recommend La Mata Beach if you do not want to go where too many tourists go!!!
