We ate both in the formal upstairs restaurant once for dinner and twice in the bar area for brunch. Nice selection although limited until 1pm so couldn't get pizza at 1230! Anyway not really an issue as they had other choices. Attentive staff, food well presented and good value albeit that the formal restaurant was €70, nonetheless this was very stylish and was a treat. Recommend either area.

Stayed for 12 nights in September 2015 - what a fantastic hotel !! So clean and fresh, the staff all went out of their way to be friendly, especially Javier in the Pink Cafe and the two ladies that served breakfast. The staff on reception all spoke English and went out of their way to help us.

The rooms were excellent, clean spacious and very modern with an excellent WiFi signal throughout the whole building - fast enough to stream movies on the iPad...

The rooftop pool is excellent with spectacular views across the salt lakes and a nice breeze to cool you !

A slight shame that there is no bar service for drinks until around 4pm - you need to call reception to order but didn't see a phone to use on the rooftop area ! This is a minor criticism though and could be easily fixed by there being a phone available...

We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning next year. I would recommend this hotel in preference to any other in this area !

The rooms were lovely and very comfortable with a great WiFi signal throughout the whole building

Just had a week in this lovely hotel and couldn't be happier, let me qualify my following comments by saying I run a boutique hotel in London so do have some knowledge of the industry!

I found all the staff to be professional and friendly, especially one of the ladies on reception with long dark hair, unfortunately can't recall the name.

The rooms are a good size with the expected facilities including safe, TV, mini fridge & an excellent shower. I see people have commented on the lack of coffee & tea making facilities in the room and the lack of British TV channels! It's worth pointing out that one of the reasons this hotel is so good is that it's not focussed solely on the British market, at least 1/2 of the guests staying were Spanish which for me is a good sign in itself & as any self respecting spaniard will tell you instant coffee is not the way to start your day!

Lovely rooftop pool with stunning views over the salt lakes and over to the sea, though in Sept the water can be a tad cold, definitely wakes you up in the morning! It's worth noting that there aren't a load of sun beds and on certain days the staff can be slow putting them out, this wasn't a problem in mid Sept but can see it being quite crowded in the height of the season.

I personally chose not to add breakfast to my package, which is 10€ a day per person and didn't eat in the main restaurant so can't pass comment on that, however they have a bar on the ground floor of the hotel calked The Stadium which open at 7 during the week & 8.30 at weekends which I found perfect for my breakfast needs, they sell great coffee, a selection of pastries and my personal favourite 1/2 baguettes toasted with olive oil and then topped with a variety of different things, from simple chopped tomato to, ham & cheese, even tuna & anchovy. Generally having 2 coffees, 1 juice and one of these baguettes my bill was never more than 7 euros and cooked fresh to order. They also do a nice selection of tapas, sandwiches and pizzas at lunchtime and into the evening. Once again this is a place very much frequented by local Spanish people, which should give you an idea of the quality,

As others have mentioned there isn't a great deal in the surrounding area so if you don't have a car, budget for taxis, yes there's a bus but I don't get the bus at home so I'm certainly not doing whilst on holiday, allow 15 mins for your cab to arrive and expect to pay 10-15 euros to get to most places, they are metered so you won't get ripped off. There's a shopping complex with a number of restaurants called La Zenia boulevard that's worth checking out about 10 minutes away, check out the Argentinean grill Che, whilst you're there, unlimited meat skewers to the table and great value particularly at lunch time. I was also really impressed by a bar called The Hen's Teeth in Villa Martin plaza, about 15 mins away and definitely worth a visit, great food and service.

Other tips would be that there is a very cheap supermarket Mercadona right next to the hotel, ideal for stocking up on water and drinks that I kept cold in the hotel mini bar fridge with no issues.

Overall a great stay in a beautiful hotel with great friendly service, if I'm in the area again this would definitely be where I would stay

Stayed at the Del Monse in August for the second time. The hotel just gets better, staff very friendly, restaurant high class food, fabulous Spa and overall a truly stunning hotel with roof top pool. They must have got the rating wrong as it clearly deserves 5 stars, you will not stay in a cleaner hotel in Spain!!

Room Tip: Best rooms overlook the lagoon

Only a quick visit, lovely room/bathroom......all very clean and good décor. Large roof top pool with sun beds (if you haven't got your own pool towel, you can rent one for €3). Also on roof top is a bar and seating terrace, with nice view overlooking the lake. There is no coffee/tea facilities in the room, but hotel does have cafe/bar/restaurant and the usual room service, plus mini bar. Free wifi which works very well, no need to keep logging on. Hotel has gym and spa facilities. A very enjoyable, relaxing visit in a modern, smart, clean hotel.
