I have eaten at the Puerto Blanco a number of times over the last couple of years and it has always been a pleasant experience however, standards appear to be slipping. Two years ago, the surf and turf starter was one of the most wonderful things ever presented to me on a plate. Whether they have just updated the dish or cut back slightly, it's still good, but not as good as it was and this is a theme that appears to permeate throughout the restaurant, sadly.
It's only little things but there does now appear to be a little less attention to detail, service takes a little longer (although the waiting staff are superb) and the little details appear that separated the Puerto Blanco from the rest appear slowly to be removed. The setting is still the same though and you have to go a long way to get better. Fabulous, especially by the pool.
It's still excellent and still hits the heights but not as often as it used to, which is a shame because it's not cheap. For anyone visiting Calpe, I would still recommend a visit but I would say that Oscars, just around the corner and up the hill, now beats it for food and gets close on the setting.
