okay first of all we got a great deal, half board for about 20 euros a person each night (40 per night, we were a couple) and this included the sea view surcharge (atleast in low season they advertise an extra 10 euros a night). a lot of complaints but since we got such a good deal i feel i was extremely satisfied with this hotel. the location excellent in the old town, but on poniente beach, (the wild party clubs are on levante beach , on the other side but walkable in 10-15 minutes.) the old town was beautiful and quaint, and the ocean views from the room were amazing. benidorm is great! we went in winter january 25 2013 and we could easily walk around with jeans a shirt, in the evening chilly but much better than the cold european winter. the hotel itself definitely needs a face lift , the room need new furniture and the beds were uncomfortable and in general you could tell the facilities were very used but they had tried to update it in a general sense, new paint, and by adding some art on the rooms but i think they should buy some new ikea furniture and it would win A LOT. but it was clean and basic and spacious and the doors needed to be renewed, they were very flimsy, but as i keep on mentioning the sea view was worth everything. also there should be a stairway because the elevators were always packed and it was a hassle to get down. and the food was not bad especially for the price we paid. it was not a huge buffet but more than enough, you do have to pay for drinks but reasonably priced and you could even buy a big bottle of water and they keep it for you for the next couple of nights if you do not finish it. i enjoyed the dinner lunch and breakfast. it always had something i liked. the staff was friendly and helpful. i would recommend this hotel especially for the price i got!

Room Tip: definately pay the premium for SEA view , high floor if possible , however above the 2nd or 3rd stil...

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for the Fiesta in Benidorm 11th to 18th Nov we upgraded to a sea view room 506, absolutely fantastic, the view I mean. I am sorry to say it really is in need of a makeover, decor etc is in a bad state. Staff are bril, the food? is excellent esp the evening meal, always something hot for every taste. Breakfast is cold one but plenty of toast making equipment available, just wish the boiled eggs on offer were hot and the bowl of tomatoes to be hot, then tomatoes on toast would be nice. We really enjoyed our stay there and would return, our price paid for this hotel was very reasonable, if it was upgraded it could charge a helluva alot more, the upgrade to a seaview was 70 euros more, well worth it. The fiesta firework display was on the beach in front of us, we had front row seats brilliant on our balcony, this firework display should not be missed if over there, one of the best we have seen anywhere..
Ideal location for bars and shops ete but a 20 min walk to the life in the centre of Benidorm. A taxi back to the hotel is roughly 7 euros, but whether prices go higher for the Fiesta week whilst the brits are there I do not know, could be possible as the beer prices are higher. On arriving at the hotel you have to ask where it is as there was not a sign outside advertising the entrance, Maria on reception was very helpful as said in other reports on here. Give it a try, you will enjoy it, promise lol, if you dont then go out and pay more. Thank you for reading this review hope it helps making your decision.

Room Tip: Have a seaview, definetly.

Stayed here for a weekend in November, basic hotel, rooms need updating looking tired. Good Location with fantastic sea views, worth ensuring you have a sea view. Bit noisy especially in the mornings around breakfast time. Food very basic spanish. Tapas are nice though. You have to buy drinks separately to the buffet, upgrade from the house wine as not very nice. We had booked a romantic escape via lastminute.es and was supposed to have cava in the rooms and a romantic meal, but they were not prepared for this. Received the cava with dinner after asking, which was def not a romantic meal. You can park outside the door of the hotel to drop off and collect if before midday but after this time the road is closed. Spa circuit was also offered but this is in a hotel the other end of Benidorm, friends went and said it was good but it should be located closer, you need transport to get to it. Would stay again if the price was right.

Room Tip: Request or pay extra for sea view.

This was the third time I had been to this hotel, the staff were very welcoming and remembered my friend and I. It is beautifully situated, we had a lovely room with a view over looking the beach and the food was superb. We shall be going again next year.

Room Tip: Pick a room with sea view

Stayed here Oct 12 and found the place to be very tatty and in need of complete renovation. Stood in the street wandering around looking for the Esmeralda only to find there was no Hotel of this name to be seen. Only after asking a british man on the street were we pointed towards an entrance saying Tapas Bar.....The Hotel name cannot be seen fron the street!. We went downstairs where we saw a receptionist who confirmed we were in the right place. We were given a key and made our way to tiny double room......not what we asked for.....we booked a twin room. I went back down to reception who the changed the room. The Hotel is described as an Hotel and art hotel.
We were in room 102 which was scruffy dated and more like a hostel that hotel and these were the words of other guests. I was'nt expecting luxury but a clean tidy room at least.
The room was a lilac colour with mismatched furniture.
Bedside table varnish was all scratched and looked like it came from a junk shop after being outside for a week. Paint on bathroom door flaking off in big chunks if you touched it.
Floor looked grimey all around the edges. White paint splashes around chair legs.
The beds were a nightmare with all the side coverings ripped and a very thin matress where you could feel every spring.
Bath was too small to fit in.....never seen one like it before.
Tv although had a list of channels the only English channel BBC did'nt work.
We had no balcony table and had to bring chairs outside to sit and enjoy the view with drink.
On the first night we had no blankets so I had to go to reception for some.
That evening (SUN) the food choice was fish....lamb or a sausage meat in breadcumbs. As the fish was full of bones we opted for the lamb.......this was awful....all fat a gristle. Desert choice was fruit or fruit salad obviously from a tin.
The restaurant was full of Spanish and we struggled to find a seat.
The next morning we went down for breakfast and there was no seating.......again all spanish people who it seems just come off the street to eat as it has big signs outside advertising its buffet and found it strange that guests seemed to clear there own tables to an area where they scraped there plates and placed on a cleaning trolley.
There was no hot food at breakfast so never bothered again.
The hotel had wifi but wanted me to pay 2 euros an hour for access no my phone......Most hotels and cafes offer this free to guests and customers.
We believe this hotel to be unsuitable for guests in its present state for the price we paid.
To top things off on Friday we had a flooded bathroom because someone on the floor above left a shower on leaving our bath with dirty water and plaster which we had to clean up.
The hotels welcome letter in the room was saying it was an hotel of art..and respect the art in your room....they are clearly deluded.
Staff were at least friendly and the sea view room which we paid extra for was a must,
Would I stay here again.........sorry but No!
