The Poniente Beach stretches from the old town to the east and to the "Passeo Tamarindos" to the west and is a good 30-45 minute walk depending on the pace that you set yourself. It is an excellent walk and without doubt quieter than the Levante Beach. There are less hotels around the Poniente Beach and my experience was that it was frequented by an older fraternity.
The beach is immaculately clean with sereral lifeguard posts.
The tallest hotel in Europe, the Bali, is situated at the west of the beach and the further west that you walk it tends to be more residential with some spectacular homes on the beach front.
The water is very clear with ample sunloungers
