i booked a twin room with a balcony for single use paying the extra !!!!!! on arriving at the hotel late in the evening just before midnite i was given a single room with no balcony going back down stairs and trying to explain what i had booked was put in a room with 3 beds and was told to see the manager in the morning as the person that was dealing with me didnt have very good english !!!!!! i thought the room i was given was like a jail the window was so far up the wall it was hitting the ceiling on openning it i found there where bars on it thinging to myself if i wanted to stay in a jail i would go out and get myself arested to save the bother of every booking a room ............Next morning !!!!!! things didnt get any better saw the manager and he showed me the fax that he had got for my booking explaining they would have to do some thing about it ,as i booked what i did, was given another room not before trying to ring the company i booked with ..... this room did have twin beds the window was on the floor i could open it .........still no balcony ....out look was a court yard of sorts and if i wanted to see what the weather was like had to hang myself out to look up ..............was told that the next day i would be given another room but that never happened ............
the staff where rude ...when my friend came down to call for me some evenings they where told i was out ......................
went we where having a drink at the bar and my friends asked where the loo was it was like having 20 questions fired at them who where they with etc ...........
i was locked out of the hotel twice like a child or a naughty school girl .............the reason for this i think is that the hotel was full of oaps and they went to bed at 11pm one thinks ............ meal times breakfast was like a bun fight the spainish are worse then the germans they thought it was their last super ..............packing up there pack lunch if they wasnt full board ............having a coffee at the bar well if u sat at there card tables they used the looks could kill .......the food wasnt that bad in fact very tastey for spainish food and different very nite ...........the galic chicken was a most ................just made the most of things ...........its a shame cause the hotel is a lovely old spainish hotel, just round the corner from the beach and the old town down a quiet street if there is one in benidorm !!!!!! so before u book and u have booked a room with a balcony made sure u dont mind being moved to get it i couldnt be arsed to wait another day cause i wanted to unpack and get on with my holiday .............i would go back to this hotel only because it was where i wanted to be ...................

I stayed at this hotel full board for a weekend with my mam in July and thank god we were only there two days. On arrival we got dropped off by our transfer coach on a side street around the corner from the hotel, we had to walk through the town with our suitcases which was a bit of a mission as it was quite busy.

When we finally got to the hotel our first impressions werent good and were only to get worse. The outside could do with a face lift and there are quite steep stairs up to the hotel. Inside the hotel was as bad as the outside, very dated and worn although clean could do with new decor. The rooms were small and as bad as the rest of the hotel, as for the balcony i wouldnt have bothered, it was tiny and looking onto a smelly busy back street.

We thought things could only get better but were sadly mistaken. We went down to dinner to a small dining area and walked into a room full of spanish pensioners who were looking at us like we had two heads. As for the food, i'm not a fussy eater and even i couldnt stomach it, it was terrible, unless you liike fatty belly pork and some sort of fish, ive never tasted anything more disgusting in all my life and the breakfast was just as bad. We ate out the rest of our stay as we couldnt bear the food and being glared at by the spanish pensioners.

The hotel info when i booked it on the internet said it was a beach hotel so we were expecting it to be right on the beach front. No way, we had to walk down this smelly alley way to get to the beach which i have to say was the only decent thing about the holiday.

Overall i have say this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed at and i have been to Spain many times. I would not recommend this hotel if your under 65, British and enjoy half decent food.

It's hard to give anything but a mixed review for the Alameda.

Much of what others have said about the hotel is right, but some of it is rather harsh.

We stayed there for 2 weeks on full board, with a 4 month old baby, and our comments need to be taken in their context.

We found that:

- the rooms are large, comfortable and very well cleaned, if slightly dated in a few aspects;
- the staff were (mostly) very friendly and made an effort to please (apart from the waiters' obsession with laying up the tables for the next meal half-way through service on the previous one)
- the food was generally enjoyable, but not very hot (and this isn't unusual in Spain) although breakfast was relatively poor - awful soft Spanish "cornflakes", coldish bacon, long-life croissants ... and the wine is genuinely EUR2.50 a bottle which is the cheapest I've experienced in a hotel restaurant anywhere. The paella was excellent! Very restricted choice though, so bad news if you are fussy and absolutely hopeless if you are vegetarian (fortunately, neither affected us).
- the location is absolutely excellent - it's right in the centre of the old town, and we saw parades going outside the hotel which we could watch from our balcony, which was a nice bonus. It's literally <200 yds from the beach, too.

All in all, it's excellent value for money and I'd recommend it, but as long as the negatives expressed above are taken into account when working out whether it suits you. Rated above average mainly because of value for money!

We hired a car for the whole fortnight and parked it without any problem, about 10 mins walk from the hotel, free of charge on-street. Parking IS difficult, but it's not as bad as people might think if you persevere and identify a place you can always find parking: we parked in Carrer del Vent almost every day. Get a proper map with the one-way streets marked (available free from the Tourist Office).

i stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks and i found it appauling. the food was cold and very basic, there was an awful lot of fish, pork belly strips and more fish, the staff were friendly and understanding, the hotel was clean and basic and was positioned in a nice area, the bar was only open certain hours although the drinks were cheap, the tv in the bar area was on all day playing football matches, we ate most of the time out, the rooms were cold with minimum heating, and even though the guests were complaining, nothing was done by the management, about these problems, it is not suitable for young children, disabled, or any one with a bit of life in them, it is catered for the elderly spanish clientle the only thing salvaged the stay there was the laughter and company of the other english guests who nick named the hotel alcatraz

We stayed at the alemeda hotel over christmas & new year,The hotel is very basic but clean, the staff are very friendly, and the location of the hotel is in a very nice area, in the old town just a couple of mins from the beach, the dowfalls of the hotel are the Food,
not much choice, on boxing day it was either fish stew, or chicken wings, and every meal after that was a choice of fish, or normally cheap pork cuts (belly strips) most people were put of by the food, and made lots of complaints,so all in all the restaurant was very poor, but saying that they only charged 2 euros for a nice bottle of wine, and the bar prices were cheaper than the prices in bars outside, another downfall was that they are building next door to the hotel and every morning at 8 o clock we were woken by banging and drilling on the wall of our bed, (the headboard used to vibrate of the wall, this carried on until about 6.30 in the evening so no hope of an afternoon nap, also the hotel is no good for someone in a wheelchair, or somone who cannot do steps, as the restaurant is in the basment down a flight of stairs, there are also steps upto the hotel but no ramps,
so overall the hotel was in a good location,
the rooms were basic
the food was very poor
no disabled access
but ok if you dont expect to much !!
