“Quiet hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

Camposol is a very quiet hotel in Benidorm's old town. It is a basic hotel with no extras. However, the staff were all polite, friendly and extremely helpful. The room and communal areas were all clean. The food was typical Spanish hotel food (no chips or 'British' meals). It is in a good location, just a 5 minute walk from the bars and pubs in the old town.

Although it probably wouldn't be my 1st choice but I would stay at this hotel again.

Three girls in Spain and a small hotel situated in the old town, staying 4 nights in the Hotel Camposol, means one thing fun!. The hotel was small but basic for our needs, and needlessly to say that the hotel was great. We decided to upgrade from bed and breakfast to half board for £20pp. When we finally got dropped off after a 45 minute transfer outside Porkys it took us half an hr to get to the hotel, this is because the bus driver gave us wrong directions, he told us to go up the hill and turn to the next left and then we would be there, however this was wrong, after asking several people we managed it too find it. My tip is that if you get dropped outside Porkys, is go straight up the hill and then when you get to the bakery is turn left, you should see it.

The hotel was basic and the staff were quite friendly, the room was clean and tidy and served our basic needs of a bed and ensuite the only thing is that the bed my friend slept on was squeakier than a hamsters wheel, and the room smelt a little bit musky, but apart from that it was fine, oh and if you like lots of pillows like I do, you have no chance. Well we got ready and asked the hotel to ring a taxi, and we hit the square for about 8euros, which isn't too bad, but its about 20 mins if you decide to walk it.

We decided to upgrade from bed and breakfast to half board for an extra £20pp, the food was ok, nothing special but plenty of variety. On offer was a full english breakfast, continental breakfasts, fresh fruit. The evening meal was lots better than the breakfasts but there is something for everyone and the salad bar was great with lots to chose from, I would suggest to take your own teabags and coffee though, as it was awful from the vending machine, and the juice was so sweet too.

The maids made our beds everyday and we had clean towels with plenty of loo roll. The staff were quite friendly, the reception staff were probably the friendliest, the woman behind the bar was more interested in her looks and kept pouting in the mirror, but she was friendly but she preffered to serve Spanish guests first, and the male member of bar staff was quite rude by slamming our money on the bar, and also they ate behind the bar, which I think is quite bad manners. The bar is reasonably priced around 12euros for vodka redbull and 2 malibu and cokes, and the spirit measures were very generous.

If you are a teenager, I personally wouldn't use the hotel, as during our stay, it was full of pensioners, we were the youngest people there, and our average age was 37 years old.
However, we never used the pool as it was a quite shaded but to be honest, the hotel was only 10 mins away from the beach.

A good cheap hotel which was value for money, and we have agreed to go next year and stay there again.

A small hotel on the edge of the Old Town area, up a short slope from the beach. Supermarkets are close for any extra shopping you need and plenty of tourist shops all around the area.

The hotel is squeezed into a busy residential area so don't expect a good view. However the pool area is shady and cool in the hot weather and there is a 5th floor sun terrace which gets more direct sunlight. Ideal as a base to explore the area, go out by day to the beach or by night to the various bars around this part of town.

Food is simple but plentiful and very well presented. Good range of food across the week, with some of the best fresh salad I have tasted. The hotel is staffed by a few hard working people that never seem to have a day off. They are helpful and cheerful and manage to understand simple requests in English. Very popular hotel with older Spanish guests- but this means it is quiet at night for a good sleep and they are always friendly when they greet you in the morning.

Don't choose this hotel for entertainment and a party atmosphere DO choose this hotel if you want a quiet base, close to the Old Town and very good value for money. I would come back again!

Room Tip: Always worth asking for a room with a balcony.

Stayed in this hotel on Aug 20 for 5 nights. It was our first time to Benidorm and being a mature student with bills to pay it had to be a cheap holiday. Went half board for £190 and got 2 return flights from jet2 for £100 each. Great,
We were too late to book the airport transfer bus so we got the bus thats outside the airport. The bus goes straight to benidorm and stops first at the bus station on the outskirts of the town and again in the middle of the town. We were advised to get off in the town and there was about a 15 min walk to hotel. It was fine with hand luggage but would have been a nightmare if we had a lot of stuff. Id advise anyone with luggage to get a taxi from the bus station to your hotel if this is the case, The bus was 8 Euros each person each way but this combined with a taxi would still be lots cheaper than a taxi from the airport.

So we arrived at the hotel. To look at - nothing exciting to say. Its in the old part which has a great friendly family feel to it. We were greeted by an older man at reception who spoke Spanish to us initially but soon switched to fluent English. I remember reading previous reviews about this hotel having mainly Spanish occupants but this wasnt an issue for us. The guy at reception was extremely helpful and even walked us to the lift and dining room to show us where to go.

The room was a bit disappointing. We were on the 4th floor and our room was directly opposite the lift. The room was an odd shape and as previously mentioned - we had a balcony that looked out to a brick wall. The bathroom was very small and i had a hard time squeezing myself in to the small space in the corner that the toilet was jammed into.
On the plus side the room was very clean.
We were not expecting grandeur and we expected these sort of things. You get what you pay for and all we wanted was a clean place to lay our head.
The breakfast was reasonably good. Cold meats, eggs, toast, fruit, cereal and yoghurt, The coffee is not coffee. Its out of a vending machine. Think the worst vending machine coffee you have ever tasted and then times that by 100. The fruit juice out the machine is like sunny delight. We had coffee at the bar as it was freshly made and lovely. We were happy enough that we left with full tummies each morning.

The evening meal had a good variety of food and there was always something for everyone. We did find that we ate out in the evenings due to there being so many lovely tapas bars and restaurants nearby. If we went back we would probably not take the half board option and just go for breakfast.

Now what I wish to say is in no way accusing the hotel, but half way through the holiday my boyfriend and I became very ill with D&V which was confirmed as salmonella when we returned to the UK. We contracted it somewhere on our holiday but like I say we ate out at different places every day. All il say is please make sure you check your food is cooked thoroughly and have a quick glance at the kitchen or how clean the place looks.

This spoiled the last couple of days of our trip as we were confined to our room. We went to the chemist round the corner and the sales assistant got us an english speaking pharmacist to help us. We got enough medication to knock out a horse and get us home. Very impressed.

We were the only english speaking people in the hotel until the last day before we left. A bunch of idiots moved in to the room next door and were louts. They made so much noise and we awoke one morning to hotel staff trying to wake one of the guys up in the corridor. He was so drunk he passed out and slept there all night.
We were glad to be going home because we couldnt have dealt with that for much longer. Felt quite ashamed to be associated with that being the only other folk from UK.

Didnt use the pool- it was shaded most of the time.

Would stay here again if looking to save some money. We went to the new part of town and definitely prefer the feel of the old town- but thats just our preference.

Room Tip: Id ask to have a room with pool view.

Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and overall we were very satisfied. The room was very clean and fresh and a decent size with a balcony overlooking the pool.

Our package included a cooked breakfast each morning which was excellent. Another positive was the location, only a 10 minute walk from
Pontiente beach and old town.

The only downside was that the room didn't have any extras like refreshments or shampoo.

Overall a good place to stay.

We where a English party of nine people a mixture of adults, teenagers and children, stayed for 7 nights between 11-18 August 2012, hotel was very clean, rooms where cleaned and beds where made every day, towels where also changed daily, Stayed on the 4th floor overlooking the pool and garden area, our room was quite small but very livable, we had a balcony, some rooms don't apparently.

We stayed half board, the Restaurant was clean and roomy, Breakfast consisted of eggs bacon (Spanish Style) beans, cereal, "warm puri milk" "warm very sweet juices", had a double toaster which was handy, coffee machine, tea bags, marmalade ect ect, quite good really!

Dinner was catered predominately for the Spanish Clients, lots of fish, salad, bread, cakes fresh fruit, fried potatoes, not my cup of tea but acceptable, You could buy a bottle of wine for 3 euros which was quite good.

The Pool and Garden area was shaded most of the day, but this suited us, because we spent most of the days walking in the town and sunbathing on the beach the temperature was in the 30s so it was nice to return to a nice cool pool and cool area; the pool was cleaned every day and was very clean.

This Hotel was mainly occupied by elderly Spanish clientele, I unfortunately have to say who where not at all friendly towards our English Party, unfriendly, sometimes very rude, impolite, and arrogant.

Now!....Apart from the Cleaners, and the Lady who wore spectacles on Reception the Management Staff seemed very unfriendly and sometimes hostile towards our English Party, Why? we don't know, but we got the distinct impression that this was a Spanish Hotel and the English where not welcome even though they accept English bookings and the money spent in the Hotel.

I have to point out the "Spanish Lady Bar Tender", was a most unpleasant, unfriendly, arrogant person we had ever come across, she would always give priority to the Spanish/Italian Guests, and kept us English waiting and last to be served. The Bar closed at 12 midnight on the dot the lights where dimmed at this time, we where told in no uncertain terms to finish our drinks and leave the Pool/ garden because it was going to be locked up, not what we expected on a Spanish Holiday!

When it was time to check out nobody from the management asked if we had enjoyed our stay and not a thank you or good bye.

Finaly Hotel Camposol was in very good location 5/10 minutes walk to the Old Main Town, Beach and Restaurants, we all enjoyed our Holiday and Benidorm, we would all go back, but not to Hotel Composol.

Room Tip: One with a balcony
