“Worst apartments in benidorm”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Just got back home after spending new year in these apartments it was my worst nightmare come true, very basic, very dirty, windows looked like they would fall out if you were to wash them. The windows are so thin when you went to bed on a night time any one passing you would hear them talking it was as if they were in the next room. The 2 ring cooker we had took forever to heat up and when it did they was a awful smell coming off it,there was a very little boiler to heat your water up so therefore you had to boil pans of water plus the kettle to get a descent bath. Also they dont tell you about the euro's you have to pay to watch telly which is 1 euro a hour and the deposit you pay for the room which is 40 quid (english money) and you dont get it back if there is any damage to the room,The room is not worth £40.00.Also i was expecting maid service to change my towels ,make the bed ,clean the bath etc: just normal hygiene jobs, none of these things happened except the maid came in the room on the 4th day of my stay and there was a change of bath towels and nothing else. Would advise you not to go TERRIBLE.

Room Tip: Dont stay on a corner apartment because you get all the wind and you cant use your balcony.

8/11- 15/11 - Had a lovely week, shame about the weather but the apartments were lot quieter from our first visit (March 2012), even tho they were still pretty busy, so it wasn't too bad staying indoors a bit more than i'd have liked to but i don't do rain!!! and We have booked to return for a 3rd time for the fiestas in March 2013.

Our room and all public areas were again very clean & tidy on our arrival & our kitchen was well enough equipped for self catering, the freezer had seen better days but it was ok to use & so long as you remembered to push the door top and bottom it did it's job - keeping the beers cold :-). If you are a bit picky about the towels you use then maybe you mite like to bring your own because tho they are clean (and changed mid week) they have seen better days and may put some folk off?

The bar has a good selection of drinks at resonable prices and the staff are really really nice and happy to help with any issues.

As other reviewers have already said anyone giving a bad review on these apertments are just expecting way too much for not a lot of money money. Our 7days at the apartment, for 2 persons, cost £120 in total, less than £9 per night each and i believe even better deals were to be had, we also opted for the late departure ( 1pm (10euro extra - but so worth it).

The supermarket next door is realy handy and again does not overcharge just because they are not in the thick of it. The local open market (wed/Sun) is just a 10 min walk away and good for fresh food or the usual holiday purchases.

Just one other thing - nothing to do with the Vistmar mind is Please Please be aware of the pick pockets. Guys out and about on thier own (and having had a drink or 2,3,4,) are their favourite targets. The theives are getting greater in number, are all over the place and they are not just young ones they are of any age so don't even disregard that little old lady!!! you can never tell - sad but true i'm afraid.

Room Tip: Top Floor - if on other floors you may may get someone above you who likes to wear clicky clacky sho...

If all you need is somewhere low cost to sleep without being disturbed then Vistamar Apartments are ideal. Near to the entertainment and beach but far enough away not to be disturbed at night (or morning if you need a late lay-in). Vistamar Apartments are very basic but also very clean and comfortable. But then I did pay a basic price. Friendly people running the apartments and when I had to report a bathroom tap the would not turn off, the receptionist radioed an engineer to come back to the room with me! Vistamar Apartments are near to many restaurants so there is no need to cook if you don’t want to. Almost next door is The Titanic Bar/Restaurant which serve probably the best full English breakfast in Benidorm for around £2. It is run by Spanish but to English standards including really lean bacon – not the usually streaky that is often served in hotels. Also next door is a small supermarket or 5 minutes walk away is a good sized Supermaket (Consum in Calle Ibiza). We rented a car and found that parking outside Vistamar Apartments was easy (at least in October) because we could usually park right outside the entrance or in the adjoining cul-de-sac. We travel to Benidorm a lot, sometimes using a hotel and sometimes an apartment. We like apartment because we frequent the night life in Benidorm and get to bed around 4am. Being in an apartment means that we don’t have to get up early for breakfast or miss it, as we would in a hotel. Under those circumstances, all we need is somewhere convenient, very clean and comfortable for a quiet sleep. Vistamar Apartments filled our needs perfectly at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Usually, a high room ensures a quiet night but even on the 6th floor we were not disturbed at night...

Firstly the staff are great very nice and very helpful, the overall place is clean and well maintained. The apartments are very spacious well equipped and very clean huge balcony worth every penny. The pool is lovely and is worth 1.50 euro to keep it looking this tidy also has a tennis court again well maintained. Great for immediate facilities shop on the corner and 2-3 minutes before you reach your first bar place to eat the square is another 5 minutes away. Beach is tops 10. Excellent place to stay brilliant location and amazing value for money.

Checked in 27th September for four nights, very basic, staff friendly, rooms a bit dirty and scolded myself when trying to work the shower as it was coming off the wall, you also have to pay 1.5o euros for a lounger round pool, best for stags and hen parties.

Don't understand all the bad reviews on the Vistamar? Myself and my husband are both in our 50's and stayed for a week 16th Sept 2012! We arrived late at night, there was someone on reception waiting for us, you had to pay £40 or 50 euros but this is stated by the hotel, we paid in pounds, and had no problem whatsoever getting it back at the end of our stay! There were just the two of us and the room has ample space! There is a bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom, the balcony runs the length of the apartment with double door access from the bedroom and the living area. We both showered at varying times during the day and never experienced lack of hot water. We saw the maids everyday cleaning different rooms and if you asked them for anything they'd give it to you! It's a good 5 - 10min walk to the beach and not in the best location if you've got any walking difficulties, but it is close to lots of nightlife, but not noisy, except the odd drunk brit going passed singing "viva espana", or the usual banter! You have got to pay 1.50 euro for the sunbeds per day, but if you want to just sit on your towel anywhere it's fine. The good news is there is a shop attatched to the apartments that is very reasonable and you can buy your own food and beer and take it poolside, there's no lifeguard so don't get too drunk and dive in cos no-one will save you? On checking out we weren't able to contact our transfers the british lady on the desk phoned constantly for nearly 24 hrs until she sorted it! We have been going to Benidorm off and on for the past 15 years and stayed at several resorts. It's a basic hotel but it has everything you want on a holiday in my opinion!
