Hotel Flamingo Oasis
Ranked #55 of 192 Hotels in Benidorm
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Went back this year for ten nights as had a fabulous week the year before. What a difference a year makes. There is no way this hotel is a 4 star any longer, the public areas are all stuck in the 1990's and need a refit. The restaurant is also dated and very noisy. The food this year was terrible, repetitive and poor quality most of the time. I'm unsure what children would find to eat apart from chips that were on the menu everyday! Last year the food was great, looks like they are trying to save money now on the food bill. Strange things on the menu as well such as seaweed stew! Also the theme nights are a joke in the restaurant a western night and then a Mexican night as there was no themed dishes apart from chilli on the Mexican night but there was no rice!! The swimming pool gets very little sun due to the newer high rise hotels built around it. This means that everyone is squashed in to a very small area by the swings. Sun beds in this area all reserved by 8.30am each day! The pool was freezing as it's not heated and as I said gets little sun to warm it up. So we spent extra money going to the beach and hiring sun beds. The lifts in the hotel are a bit of a joke as well, there are 6 but you can wait up to ten minutes for one to arrive at your floor and when you are on a high floor walking up the stairs was not an option. Plus points are the rooms a spacious and are cleaned daily to a high standard, although we stayed ten nights and the sheets were never changed. There are now better hotels for the same price in Benidorm, sorry but we won't be back.

Just come back and found this hotel very good. The rooms are large and very clean. Bar staff very efficient and never very big queue's and always a smile. Food just above average for all inclusive and lots of choice only drawback is no sun, as the pool is surrounded by high rise hotels and sun just pokes out now and again at this time of year but though I am not a fan of Benidorm I would recommend this hotel to those who are. We were to late to get a Club suite but worth trying if possible.

Good points
Kids club and kids entertainment was brill
Shows were good and always something going on
Room are lovely and beds are comfy
Air con is a dream

Bad points
No kettle or fridge
As I had a baby these were essential for bottles ect
No cot in room when requested then maid came to make up the sofa bed for a 6 month baby, tried to explain cot then had to wait in our room for the cot to arrive, sheets not changed regularly every 3 days, the orange sheet on top was never changed, only one pillow
Too many rules
Some staff are rude and unhelpful
Quality of food was bad, the food was a mixture of things u would not put together
In 11 nights eat 4 in hotel
Too many rules of waiting around for tables when it's easier to just walk in as we were a family of 35 it was hard. They don't go out of their way for you.
Drinks were very limited
Too much noise in the restaurant
Around the pool there was not enough ashtrays or bins
Chairs were like gold dust and no tables
Lifeguard has his own set of rules so these also need to be followed
No food at pool bar except very bland sandwiches
No shoes no drink no shirt no drink -silly
There was no mad rush for beds thank god
Shop never open
Water machine @ 2 euros a go rip off
Rooms facing pool have music on until 12
Evening
Only a few tables max 7 is not enough, they took the entertainment indoors from 1st oct but it was way too hot for that :(
Going on we left at 6.30am
Reps said the restraunte would open at 6.15am for a quick tea and toast but they didn't open until 6.20 so there was no point cannot understand why they gave us 15 mins for breakfast.
Security guard was called to tell my ten year old niece to take her top off in the pool even thou we had repeated that she was too burnt to remove in the pool, it's really is like a school camp!
Top bar has 2 qu,s one for cold and one. For hot drinks, no one tells u this your just supposed to guess, the 2 old women in the top bar don't even look at u they just keep chatting away. Not friendly. Before anyone says u should of complained I did but nothing happened. Just ignored, would not travel with Thomson again I think for £750 each a week I expected more, will be complaint to Thomson

Room Tip: Away from pool

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week, all inclusive in the club suites, to get away from cold England - I can honestly say it's the best hotel I've ever personally stayed in. As we were in the club suite, we were greeted with no queue and a glass of champagne! The rooms were cleaned every day, the staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke with a good level of English. The rooms were very well laid out and spacious, included an iPod dock, a flatscreen TV, very good air conditioning and we were given wi-fi access after requesting it, whereas others have to pay for it. The view across Benidorm was something I'd never seen before (albeit slightly spoilt by the hotel situated next door) and to top it off, we were bestowed with an amazing lightning storm, which we enjoyed from the dryness of our balcony! For those with families and kids, there was a kid's show every night by the pool and there was a film every night in an entertainment room. We enjoyed our time on the rooftop to sunbathe and use the pool, although it was too windy for my liking; the bar up there was handy, too! The main pool had a better atmosphere, as my girlfriend and I aren't even 22 years old, we felt slightly uneasy, or "unwelcome" upstairs when we were joking around in the pool, which leads me to my main complaint - an arrogant lady who assumed we weren't allowed to the club rooms or rooftop pool, for whatever reason she had, to assume that we probably weren't "upper-class" enough or that two youngsters like us couldn't afford the club rooms. (Not that her petty opinion bothered me, it's just a warning for other club members of a similar age - minimum age is 18 for club members, though.) The location is good but not so much if you're going to the beach every day - it was a 20 minute walk to the water park and animal park and a 15 minute walk to the beach. The beachfront has multiple bars and restaurants, of which my personal favourite bar was the Sol Beach Bar because of the staff's friendlyness and relaxed attitude which doesn't hinder their good service.
Other things that were a bother but not major were: the kids in the games room behaving like they were running a riot - I also got multiple fibreglass splinters from the pool cue in there; the iPod dock didn't have a power cable, which was swiftly sorted by a call to reception; despite having 6 elevators, there was occasionally a queue.
A hint to other club suite members, you have to scan your card to use the elevator buttons and to get into your room - you need to find the optimum scan speed, as too fast or too slow don't register.

Can't knock the maids as rooms always spotless. Food is hot but very repetitive. Staff are very unfriendly and we were ignored at the bar twice by one member of staff after waiting in a queue. Although there are six lifts we waited almost 20 mins for one.
