“Clean & comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Loved the location although the coach cannot drive up the narrow streets so we were dropped off a fair distance from the hotel with a point in the general direction. The hotel offers free wi-fi which we could not pick up in our room. The dining room is too small for the amount of guests so you often have to wait for a table and then you have to squeeze around rude spanish guests to manoeuvre between the food and the tightly packed tables. The roof top pool was amazing and very warm with helpful staff to keep you hydrated.
The real negative about our stay was not having a room to shower and change in before we left for the airport. We were offered the cold shower beside the pool as long as we didnt use shampoo or shower gel.

We stayed at the Hotel Centro Mar in July 2014 for 7 nights. The hotel itself is located slap-bang in the middle of the old town, and about 5 mins walk to the beach. The rooms are to a good standard with air con, safe, hair dryer etc. and are serviced regularly. We paid the little bit extra for a sea view room with a balcony which is well worth doing. There wasn't any noise from the street in our room which we had experienced in other hotels in the old town,

We opted for the full board option (breakfast, dinner and evening meal). The standard of the food was generally pretty good (although not a massive choice). The only bad thing I would say is that it can be a bit of a "bun fight", especially at lunch time. The dining room isn't very big, and the hotel allows non-resident to come in and eat which we suspected made things worse.

If you're after a hotel in the old town, then this is a brilliant choice particularly if you want to check out the gay scene or just take in the old town and then hit the beach.

Room Tip: We opted for a sea view room with a balcony which is extra but well worth paying for. 5th and 6th f...

Me and my daughter just returned from a week in this hotel, it's location is second to none it's about 2 minute walk to the beach surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants it's placed in the new town but a short walk to old town loads of shops and everything you could want!
The hotel it's self is quite Spanish hotel staff are pleasant and wifi worked all the time we was there you just have to update your access code every 24 hrs but 24hr reception so no problem there. The rooms are basic but kept very clean and the bathroom was great hot water 24hrs and she shower was perfect, hair dryer in bathroom as well, the tv in bedroom never seem to work but I wasn't there to watch it really it was more of a base camp for us. The pool was quite small but adequate with fantastic views as it is on roof and all kept clean by friendly bar man up there. All the staff are friendly but there English isn't the best. Can't really comment on the restaurant as only went there once, but was clean!
Like I say we was on the beach all day and out at night so was just a base camp for us!
Would defiantly return next year.
And remember the best thing about this hotel is it's location

I did not book this hotel, we were moved here from another hotel with no explanation.
We returned from our 4 night break yesterday.
The rooms were adequate and clean.
The breakfast was basic but adequate.
Yes there are a lot of Spanish, but it is in Spain!! and who wants to be surrounded by Brits when you are away!!
Staff were all friendly and spoke to us daily.
I have to agree about the walls being thin but that didn't ruin our break.

Firstly - the good aspects

1) On arrival at 2am, the security/night receptionist was LOVELY, a really really good start to a stay
2) The location of the hotel is great - and the view from the pool is exceptional, but beware - if you stay in anything below the 5th floor - your extra charged for balcony room will have nothing more than a view of a building opposite.

And now the bad aspects

1) The hotel is FULL of elderly Spanish folk. If you like waiting for an eternity for the one tiny lift servicing the entire hotel.
2) The front desk staff make NO EFFORT to exchange proactive pleasantries - they hide behind a poorly placed computer monitor - you can walk in, and out of the hotel without seeing a person, and on not one occasion in 8 days - did one greet you
3) The general level of English on the reception was lower than any other hotel I've visited. I'm not one for expecting people to speak English everywhere - but in an international hotel - the level was very very poor - probably because of their typical client base
4) The rooms are pretty bare (the bathrooms are nice) - but it appears that all rooms (we had to change) are twin rooms - so you've no hope if youre expecting a romantic trip
5) The walls within the rooms are paper thin, you will enjoy feeling like you are sharing a room with next door - and the people above and below... full blown snoring, bathroom noises etc.. this isnt helped by the nature of the room lacking any real soft sound absorbing furnishing.
6) The food - OMG the food - its the worst I've ever experienced since school days. Of course the old folks (don't think about sitting in 'their seat'!) lap it up - as its tasteless mush, the service in the restaurant is also despicable.
7) The hotel disables functions that you've paid for in your room (such as aircon) - you have to go downstairs to have them switch the fuse on
8) WiFi - forget about it. I've read reviews where the manager has responded months ago that the issue is being fixed - bs - its rubbish - youre lucky if you can get on the network. Then theres no internet service. When its alive, it dies in less than three minutes. A network speed is similar to dial up. Reception offer nothing but excuses
9) If theres an issue with the hotels online booking agent (expedia) than it becomes YOUR PROBLEM to fix. Of course, they wont CALL the agent, they tell you its your job. Forget using your laptop for a voip call (see point 8) - they have you cornered and they know it.
10) Room cleaning - don't expect more than a mop thrown around the room - we timed a maid clean at FOUR MINUTES; incredible, sloppy.

Never ever ever again

Room Tip: only 5th floor and up have sea views

The hotel was spotless and the bathrooms were really shower rooms but clean and well decorated. I think the hotel is more 2 star than 3 star. The food was pretty average with far less choice of buffet than in some of the other hotels I have stayed in Benidorm. We found that the lunch buffet was much better than the evening dinner buffet. The roof top pool area is fantastic. Great views, lovely pool but they could do with some kind of sun shade/parasol as it can be extremely hot and shadeless up there.
The entire hotel is clad with cheap laminate flooring which creates lots of noise. The bedroom doors shut with a very loud CLICK which sounds like a rifle shot amplified by the laminate. There was no noise from outside on the streets despite it being near to the bars and tapas alley.
I'd stay there again but probably on a B & B basis as its so near to the restauarants and bars.

Room Tip: The higher up, the quieter. I had no problems with noise on 4th floor.

Loved it. Spotless, big bathroom, great air con, food was fine and the rooftop pool and terrace must be the best located in Benidorm. The review saying the hotel was dirty must have been in a different place, it positively sparkled! Staff were great and friendly and the buffet had good choices. We had full board here and there was a good variety at every meal with all three of us reckoning that the lunches were the best meal of the day.
The hotel is VERY busy! It is popular with Spanish pensioners taking advantage of the subsidised state holiday scheme and the restaurant does get very busy and noisy. But it's Spain and people talk louder than England. Also if you're an "egg and chips" eater then don't go full board as it's Spanish food for the bulk of the clientele. And good Spanish food at that. The average age is about 75 so note if you're planning a youngish holiday (I'm 46 btw) but I loved this hotel and would definitely come back A real little gem!
