We have 2 boys aged 15 and 6 and we all enjoyed staying at Terralta.
The apartments are spotless and serviced every other day. We had 3 changes of sheets while we were there too. Beds were quite comfortable, as someone else said there was a plastic undersheet which was noisy and uncomfortable but if you take it off the maids don't bother to put it back on again so problem solved. Boys found the sofa beds comfortable too and the black out curtains in lounge and bedroom were brilliant. Apartments are very well equipped.
Air conditioning is great, i don't know how anyone could cope without it. It does go off at 3pm for an hour or so (maybe they think most people are out at that time of the day?) However if you want it switched on again just ask as its no problem. You only get one key card on check in but if you want to leave your air con on all day ask reception for a 2nd key and leave it in the slot then your room is lovely and cool to come back to. The cleaner tends to take the extra key out if she comes in when you aren't there - happened to us twice but just get another from reception.
Shop is good too - has everything you could need and although a little dearer not too bad.(9am - 1pm 2pm - 7pm). We arrived in the evening so i emailed the hotel in advance and asked for some shopping to be left in our apartment, then we just paid on arrival. We got travellers cheques changed at hotel reception and although you might lose a little it was worth it not to carry passport around. We hired a safe for the 2 weeks (think it was 34 euros, you get 6 back when you return the key) well worth it.
Good facilities on site, sunbeds are a problem there are never enough for everyone. We spent the 1st 2 days on whicker chairs as we don't agree with putting towels down, management made a half hearted attempt to remove towels a couple of mornings but it was pretty hopeless, they just need more beds. Pools are excellent, the main pool was very safe for children. Also an excellent games room with pool tables, air hockey, basketball etc.
Happy hour is from 9 to 10.30 (buy one get one free) - we went out for dinner most nights and got back before it finished. The entertainment is a bit lacking. The entertainment lady (yes only one) does her best, quizzes, bingo etc and she does water polo and aerobics during the day. Think she needs a bigger budget(!) but if it's entertainment you're looking for then you wouldn't be staying in with whats on offer in Benidorm.
We'd never been to Benidorm before, we just needed somewhere relaxing for a couple of weeks. We never got further than the centre of Benidorm. Some great restaurants Shanghai Chinese (keep going down the hill past the 1st set of traffic lights and and the 2nd set the chinese is on the opposite corner. Excellent food and very cheap. Yorkshire Pride in the centre of benidorm is excellent too especially if you were craving meat and 2 veg as we were 1 day - again good food very reasonable (catch the no8 bus outside the apartments stay on the end and you are in the centre of Benidorm - Yorkshire Pride is less than 5 minutes walk).
We would go back to Terralta, location would not put us off, the hill is do-able!
ps we asked for a quiet room and got the last room on the last block overlooking the adult pool - perfect!
