Lots of pluses for this place. Close to everything, although it's a bit silly calling it a "beach hotel" as it is 500 metres up a hill from the beach and across three busy roads. The place is spotlessly clean with good size comfortable rooms. Our bed was good, unlike some other hotels in Benidorm where it felt like you were sleeping on boards. Unfortunately, rooms on the 1st floor (we were in 106) funnel all the sound up from the bar and reception area so good earplugs are a MUST.
Endless nights of karaoke and bingo are not really our thing so we gave them a miss but I have to say, in my limited dealings with them, the bar staff were superb. Very fast, professional and friendly. Such a welcome change.
Food was OK. It was hot and the variety was fair but it felt a bit same same after a couple of days while the desserts were monotonous, with endless variations on mousses.
All in all. We enjoyed it and would stay again.

Room Tip: avoid first floor

Hi me and my husband booked here after reading reviews on Trip and the hotel is really nice.
The location is great near the old town, short walk to the beach and shops and the 'English' part of town.
The hotel room was lovely and big and clean, as we upgraded we had a kettle in our room which was great and access to the 'premium' bar lounge which was well worth it and any drink you could want was on offer.
The staff were friendly and helpful and always with a smile.
The spa was good and we used this one morning when the weather was not that good. Very enjoyable.
I would like to go to the hotel again but I'm not sure I would go to Benidorm again as not the most scenic place I have been to in Spain and there is other places I would like to go to. We did take a bus out to Altea one day which was lovely and on the way went through a place called Albir which looked really nice.
i think Benidorm is good for a short break but maybe not longer than a week, although it had a beautiful beach.
Also, we wetn to the best ever thai restaurant that we found by chance called the Red Apple which is not far from where the Melia Hotel is, the food was out of this world and my husband who is a vegetarian was well impressed with the tofu dishes - try it you will not be disappointed.
Very cheap too and lovely staff.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed good to me.

This is the first time we have been to Spain, but we have travelled all over Europe and beyond stayed in many hotels but we can say that this is one of the best we have stayed in, we must have been there the same week as IGLOSSOP(earlier review) 17th - 24th Feb 2014 and all I can say is they must of been in a different hotel to us, the standard of the food was of very good drinks was of the local brands but just as good and plentiful (who wants to upgrade for £200 just to get branded drinks and sit in a closed off area) a few more perks admittedly, but you had just as well stayed in England? this hotel was spotlessly clean friendly bar staff nothing to much trouble mix any cocktail plenty of champagne you do not get that in most all inclusive deals (Champagne for breakfast 8.00 o.clock in the morning if you was that way inclined) but it is totally unfair to even think about comparing this hotel to Butlins, and we will be certainly be staying there again.

Room Tip: We was in room 401 overlooking the pool very quiet but admittedly it was February

We have been many times to Spain mainly staying in 4 star hotels and I can honestly say this is the best of them,We stayed from the 11.Feb to !8 Feb the room1414 was great good views and very clean and quiet. We had no problem with the lifts except one time when more than eight persons got on and was overloaded.
The food was excellent a good choice for all with a great choice of salads cold meat hot meats including roast beef roast lamb roast hams potato's gravy hot soups and for those who wanted a snack there was freshly made pizza, breakfasts were hot full English ,continental or the chef would cook you an omelette or fry eggs or make you a pancake as I wrote an excellent choice for everyone I do not know how a reviewer could compare it with Butlins.
We did not use the pool and enjoyed the nightly entertainment which for Spain was good. The location was good between the old and new Benidorm and would ask anybody considering this hotel not to be put off by the one bad review the staff were all friendly and polite and spoke enough English to be understood ,We will certainly come back to this hotel again.

Room Tip: A high room has great views and is quiet.

This is a hotel with a split personality. Rooms and facilities are acceptable for a four star. However, food and beverage offerings are something more akin to Butlins in 1955. The hotel is modern and very pleasing. We upgraded to the Select rooms which seemed to be the same as the standard rooms but with a few more facilities (kettle, bath robes etc). The room we had was on the third floor but was quite noisy. We also upgraded our all-inclusive offering so had access to the separate "lounge" with unlimited self-service premium brand drinks. This was disappointing as was just a screened off from reception so was noisy. The snacks available were dismal. The pool wasn't heated and only hot air available from the airconditioning - although we stayed in Feb 2014, it was quite mild and we would have appreciated the cool air or a fan in our room. The food was poor. Very poor. The choice was severely limited, and included such delicacies as chips, pizza, burgers, liver and onions, "meat" pie..... It really was the worst of 1950's holiday camp foods. The hotel's attempts at theme nights was commendable, but I've seen much better. The crockery, cutlery and glasswear throughout the hotel was very old and scratched. We also witnessed a waitress holding forks and knives by the end you put in your mouth when she was laying the table, and a "chef" using his fingers to handle raw turkey before then handling other cooked and uncooked meats at the grill. It really did put us off. In the interests of full disclosure, we don't really do all-inclusive, and this confirmed for us why not. We'll definitely go back to Benidorm but not to this hotel. The location was good, and there were reasons that others may find it totally acceptable, but this is not a hotel we'll be revisiting.

Room Tip: Choose a room as low as possible. There are three lifts and we often spent quite some time waiting f...

Just got back from a fabulous 3 night stay here. The hotel was fantastic in every way. The food choice was excellent as were the choice of AI drinks.
It allowed us to enjoy the madness of Benidorm whilst being able to come back to a really nice hotel which had a great friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back (if they'll have us!!!!)
