“Relaxing Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

I've just had a relaxing break at this hotel, money well spent and will go back early next year.
The hotel gives outstanding service in all it's departments and that is due to the Staff.
So I'm going back soon .

I have just returned from a jet2 holiday to the sandos
What I paid for 2 adults inc flight transfers and upgrade to select (7days)
On the hole it was ok but this hotel needs to make its mind up if it's a luxury spa hotel or a normal hotel. Whilst we was there all the pools was out off action however they do have a indoor one granted it is a spa but when we approached management and asked if it was possible to go in that instead we got told " this is fine, but that will be 10 euros for 2 hours) I explained about the pool being out of use but however they just kept saying 10 euros! The select club " please people don't do it! It's the biggest waste of money ever the only differences is branded drinks the room was just the same as a non select room as we asked to see a non select and it was the same!! The food was always Luke warm never hot! The location was excellent and the entertainment was good apart from 1 night! Have fun!!!

There were 5 of us staying at this hotel from 24th Nov-1st December and I have to say it wasn't as good as over reviewers have stated. I can only assume that they have never travelled to 4* hotels further a field like Mexico. We were there for a winter break and were a group aged from 30 - 54 (a good mixed bag).

I'll start with the good points

-the location - bob on! 5 mins from the beach, 5 mins to the English quarter and 10 mins to the old town.
- the rooms - we were in room 1403 and it was clean, quite comfortable and we had a charming view with the sea to the left and mountains to right (ok there were some tower blocks in there as well but hey! this is Benidorm!)
-wifi in the rooms seemed to be ok. I could stalk my facebook friends, even xmas shop! Lovely.
-sealing in the bar area was lovely and comfy
-the hotel itself was lovely and clean
-good selection of food (but there are some negative points here as well...)

And now the more negative (and please don't think I am nit-picking)

-wifi in public areas - naff
-hot buffet - not hot! we were rarely able to have a hot meal. I mean, the hotel must know this as they had a microwave in the middle of it all (not unusual I hear you say but this is an adult only hotel so there is no one who would need milk/baby food warming up) and it was used. Also as previous reviewers have said it is a bit all over but that really didn't bother us. Selection and quality of the food seemed pretty good but the temperature of the food really let it down.
-drinks, especially the cocktails looked and tasted a lot like windolene and de-icer. the coffees from the dining hall were so sweet they pretty much gave us diabetes.
-snack bar - WTF? did not find this at all. it was pretty much crisps and biscuits from behind the bar.
-the hotel entertainment. Whoever booked this garbage should be shot, sacked or at least be made to see some sort of professional as this was horrific. Ruta 66 were so horrible that even 10 or 15 glasses of windolene would not help - my ears were bleeding and what made it worse was some pleb booked them twice in 1 week. The night of karaoke was cringe-worthy (and I love me some karaoke) so this is saying something. It was basically some bloke and woman playing with zoom on a camera and then messing about with screen (a lot like when a grandparent is given a gadget for xmas and is trying to figure out what the heck it does and how it does it) and the Habana show was just a bloke swinging some woman round (albeit skilfully) who then went on to dress as a monkey and molest guests... what's not to love I hear you say?! I reply with - all of it.
-the 'bath' towels provided in the room were glorified hand towels
-the lifts - we were on the 14th floor which I loved but waiting for the lifts was a nightmare and also there was no lift up or down button whilst you were waiting for one. it was pretty much a case of get in it (if you could) and hope to get to your floor at some point.
-they provided a fridge in your room but no water in there. How hard would it be to get the maid to pop a bottle of water in there whilst they are in there?
-only English tv channels were the news and music channels - unsure if the older clientele would enjoy listening/watching Scuzz music channel whilst getting ready for bingo or a night on the tiles. Don't get wrong, I don't go on holiday to watch tv but it is nice to have something on in the back ground whilst getting ready.

Handy hints/tips/warnings -

-check your safe in the room. If is open just follow the instructions on the door (but enter a 6 digit code) and this should save you some pennies (well euros) on hiring it.
-watch out for mobility scooters - it's like wacky races out there.
-there are some rude guests in the hotel, they thought that they had the right to shove us out of the way at the lift, no need for this - this is just a fact and I would never hold this against the hotel though
-watch out for the beggars on the front - persistent to say the least

Can't comment on the spa as we did not visit but looked promising or the pool, it was clean, but none of us fancied trying to start our heart again if we even considered jumping in (talk about taking your breath away).

All in all we did have a good holiday and we would never let some of the poor points ruin the trip.

Personally for what we paid we got value for money but I do not believe this hotel is really a 4*. Like I say a decent 3* would be accurate.

Fantastic hotel, staff and food excellent, the only down side to this hotel is the free wi fi the signal is so weak that it's almost unusable. Great location . the staff are all very friendly and the entertainment is very good too. On the Friday they had a gala night the food was fantastic

Just returned from the Sandos Monaco I have been there about 4 times and they have really upped their game excellent food, service stall friendly nothing too much trouble. Entertainment good now it is a adult only hotel.Rooms clean and maids very friendly. My husband needed a mobility scooter and the hotel reception sorted it and it arrived promptly next day, if they organize it for you then you can charge it and keep the scooter in there secure compound.

This hotel was recommended as wheelchair friendly. The hotel itself is fine, but in order to go out of the hotel, you had a slight incline down to the promenade and pushing a wheelchair back was like climbing Mount Everest. The food was well presented but very little change over the week. The salads were almost the same every evening also the sweets except on the themed evenings (two). The hotel staff and bar staff were very helpful and the hotel communal areas were clean, but the bedrooms were not as spotless as they could have been - although the bed linen was perfect. Nice touch was a bottle of champagne in the room on my birthday. We payed extra for the Select Room upgrade so we had access to the Select bar. No more bar areas to sit in as the pool bar is closed on an evening in winter - so only choice is the entertainment room which is rather noisy if you just want a quiet drink and a chat. Glad we paid the extra. Spent some time in the spa pool which was amazing VERY BIG PLUS ON THAT ONE!!
