“Nice Break”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Went to the Sandos Monaco on Feb15th 2013. First time in Europe as an all inclusive, and adults only. Definitely will go back again. The food, and drinks varied every day. There was always something to fill you up. That was the only problem. We both put 5lbs on that week. The entertainment is rubbish in the week. This consists of a quiz night, and piped music. But at the week-end there were a line dancing club in, plus a couple of stag and hen partys. And it was enjoyed by different acts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No problems with the stag, and hen partys. They enjoyed themselves, before going on the town. The hotel gets a bit warm in your room. The hotel was at 35 degrees farenheit. And the air con was set at that in your room. The only way you could lower the temperature, was to open your balcony door. But as i said, theses are minimal problems. You also get free wi-fi, all over the hotel. There is an upgrade package. This entitles you to sit in a glass cube, and drink authentic brands of shorts, and free papers. Plus you get a teasmade in your room. Take a travel kettle, mash your own. They have small fridges in your room. This will save you £90 each. Only spent 25 euro's all week. 18 of that was for the safe in your wardrobe to be activated. Love the wi-fi door cards. No need to fumble for slots. Just hold card to door lock, and it unlocks. Like i said , will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Take a travel kettle

We booked this hotel because we have previously stayed with the Sandos chain in Playa Blanca Lanzarote, and also because of the short flight from our local airport, good price and the good reviews it has been receiving on TA.

The Hotel is in a very good location 5 minute walk to Levante beach, aprox 10 minute walk to the old town, and aprox 15 minutes to the new town.

We had a lovely big room (711) over looking the pool, the beds were two three quater sized beds pushed together and very comfortable. Only one pillow each but on ringing reception and asking for extra pillows this was attended to with no problem. It also had a large modern bathroom. We had a cleaner for the first part of our stay (9nts) who would clean the bathroom and for some reason totally ignore the cleanining of the huge mirrors over the sink. The second part of our stay we had a new cleaner who was excellent! (Don't know what happend to the first cleaner!)

Evening entertainment was a bit hit & miss (guy making shapes out of bubbles one night, Abba tribute night another, which consisted of a female DUO??) but this was no problem as there is plenty of entertainment out side of the hotel.

I was surprised that still water was not included in the all inclusive price, as is the case at their hotel in Playa Blanca, also in the Playa Blanca hotel the steam room and jacuzzi are included in the A.I. package. Not so at the Sandos Monaco the use of the Spa is 10 euros each pp per day! Although the gym is free and my husband said it was very good. He used it several times!

We also found the food a bit hit and miss, my husband is a bit fussy but I will eat anything. It was strange because on some days there was plenty of choice and not so on other days. Also the food should have been better located within the dining room it wasn't always hot, there was a microwave, but who wants to heat food up in a microwave in a four star hotel? Dining room floor should have been kept cleaner staines left for several days!

The majority of staff were all very pleasant and helpfull, and we met some really lovely people from all over. I think if the Sandos chain could be more consistant with all of their All Inclusive Hotels i.e. whats included in their all inclusive package and also quality of food in their hotels. I wouldn't of hesitated in giving the Sandos Monaco a five star rating instead of four!

Room Tip: Room 711 big room overlooking pool with afternoon sun.

We stayed in hotel at begining of March - start of season- would recommend hotel in fact relations going next month
Food -very good -excellent choice-kitchen staff very attendant as was the waiters/waitresses.
Rooms - Very good -clean -good beds and rooms quiet.
Entertainment - Cheesey - Could do better - My complaint would be that when I'm sitting in lounge i do not want loud music blasted out to entertain me as the art of conversation is not dead and I don't want to compete with it.
Benidorm - First time there -Not alot to do during day -we walked for miles each day -Can only do so much shopping and drinking during day.
Nightime -totally different plenty shows entertainment if not your hotel ,elsewhere.
ps Spa at hotel brilliant!!

We have stopped at this hotel perhaps 5 or 6 times, great choice of food, always to a good standard, rooms overlooking pool get afternoon sun, rooms are spacious with fridge and free safeand always spotlessly clean.
Positioned in levante not that far from beach, if you want a nice quiet hotel with good service then this is the one for you !.

Just as we had hoped for a short out of season break.
Only downside, small indoor pool but spa is very good.
Perhaps the seating could be improved for couples in the restaurant. Also turn off the T.V. when acts are on stage. Our first visit to Benidorm
was most enjoyable, in no small way due to this lovely hotel. We intend to return and would recomend the Sandos

Room Tip: High corner rooms have a sea view

This is a fantastic hotel, not perfect but nearly there it just needs a little fine tuning.
Really in a good location, Opposite a park on a pedestrianised walk way, 5 min from the sea front, 10 min from the old town and centre. 15 to 20 min from the clubs.
The Adults only is such a relief you can really relax without kids running around all day. On the negative side some of the Hen Parties are worse than kids at 2 or 3 am after a night out on the lash.
The staff are the most friendly hard working staff I have ever encountered. If a que forms at the bar they soon put extra staff on. We never had a long wait for service. That said there is one young barman with a chip on his shoulder but at least he is just as offensive and sarcastic to the Spanish as he is to the other nationals and treats all guests with equall contempt. Out of all the staff at the hotel he is the only bad apple so not a bad ratio. On the other hand Rachel in the restaurant is so good hard working and friendly I would love to be able to bottle what she has and bring it home. Nothing is to much trouble and she is so happy in her work and seems to have a short cheerful word with all the guests.
The food is of a good quality and there is plenty of choice. All tasts are well catered for. Carvery for lunch and evening meal.
Serve yourself with drinks during meal times. Cava and freshly crushed juice at breakfast if you wish. Good quality coffee or tea out of a vending machine for breakfast. The real mcoy fresh ground expresso ,contardo e.c.t. from the bar 10 am till 12 pm
The drinks are all of a good quality and we felt that the extra to upgrade to superior just to sit isolated in a glass room with branded drinks and bottled beer that you have to serve yourself and have a bath robe, slippers and tea making facilaties in your bedroom at 29 € per day was not worth it and rather over the top and snobby.
The hotel is all inclusive so long as you do not drink bottled beer or water.
Bottled beer 2€ water 1€ per litre. So in theroy an achoholic can drink a bottle of Vodka free of charge but you have to pay for a bottle of water. I did say nearly perfect hotel.
The rooms are spacious and well decorated. Lovely spacious bathroom. The beds are firm but comfy and the maid kept our room spotless. No tea making facilaty in the room unless you upgrade. We had two rooms both had a large balcony.
Entertainment some good some rubbish. The Abba tribute act are by far the worst I have ever encountered and they nearly cleared the concert hall. Then stormed off stage early because one of their old fashond cable mics were faulty.
Plenty of seating both inside and outside the hotel. While we were there the hotel was nearly fully booked and we had no problem getting a seat or sunbed.
We did not use the spa but felt it was a little overpriced for what it offered.
We had a great time with the friendly guests of all nationalities. The Spanish guests seemed very friendly, polite and not of the pushy type we have encountered in some hotels. The hotel staff really made a posative difference to our holiday.
We are hopfully going to return at the end of the year so that says it all.
Well done Sandos Monaco and thank you to all but one of the staff.

Room Tip: You can buy bottled water from a nearby supermarket 1€ for 6 ltr. Turn left out the hotel and left...
