Stayed at the Sandos Monaco from the 2nd till 10th march 2013. The hotel itself is great. Situated right in the middle of the old and new towns, 2 minutes from the beach and all the bars & nightlife, café Benidorm, Sinatra’s etc.
Staff in the hotel is first class especially the reception area (Carmeli) and bars. They were always polite and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The maid service did however let the hotel down, it was poor, with dust in the rooms once she had cleaned and the floors were hardly ever mopped. We had glasses in our room which took 3 days to get taken away as one example.
We booked the select club option and personally didn’t think it was worth the extra money for all you get, a safety deposit box which would cost approx €21 for a week, bath robes & slippers which you DON’T get to keep. The fridge gets a bottle of hotel cava, 2 beers 2 water and 2 bottles of fizzy lemon & 2 fizzy orange. Once you have drunk these the fridge does not get replenished even with water but reading the brochure and the hotels web site you should get the water replenished. You get use of the select lounge, with numerous premium brand drinks mostly bottles i.e. Tia Maria, Smirnoff etc. the fridge which has bottles of Heineken, cava & wine and soft drinks.
One thing that I think the hotel need to look at is the way in which they allow select club guests to have premium brands. When we arrived our room wasn’t ready so we went to the bar near the pool and I ordered a bottle of Budweiser but was told I would have to pay for it which I declined. I eventually got a bottle of Heineken and was told that if I wanted any more would need to go into the select lounge even though I had my silver wrist band on, showing I was a select guest. Basically if you wanted a bottle of Bud or Heineken at a normal bar you had to pay for it but you could get only Heineken in the select lounge.
After some explaining from whom I think was a manager I was allowed to keep the bottle. The select lounge does not offer Budweiser only Heineken in the fridge. The select lounge offers numerous bottles of premium brands but god forbid if you wanted a bottle of Bud because maybe some people can’t drink spirits !!. You also can’t take ANY drinks out of the Select lounge.
The buffet menu covered a wide variety of tastes and was always well presented and hot. It did sometimes get repetitive although it must be hard to rotate the menus all the time. Rachel in the restaurant was brilliant chatting to guests, making them feel welcome.
The night time entertainment needs to be completely revamped because in a word it was terrible! The entertainment one night for example was “The bubble man” with his big soapy bubbles, something you would take a 5 yr old to see bearing in mind this is an adults only hotel. Allot of people were playing cards which they had brought with them.

Just came back from a week at this hotel for my 50th birthday. I could not fault this hotel for anything the rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated and the bathroom is fab with a bath and a shower. The choice of food is excellent and not once was anything cold it was all very hot and fresh and plenty of choice. Racquel the entertainment lady is great and the hotel should hold on to her. We never had any problem at the bars and there was always lots of staff on. I would certainly come back to this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room ending in 12 or 13 as these are the end rooms and are bigger with the best views.

Just got back from the above hotel, generally good throughout but lacking the little bits to make it 4*.
Food very repetitive and if it wasn't eaten one day,it was back on menu the next.
The carpet on level 3 was not hoovered the week we were there and was very bitty by the end of the week. The rest of the hotel was generally clean but sometimes feet sticking to the floor in public areas.
Two tiny bits of soap on arrival which were not replaced all week.
Staff encountered were all very keen to help and very pleasant apart from one surly barman.
General view is fair standard but lacking little touches generally offered by 4* hotels.

We stayed here from 26th feb to 5th march and we were very dissapointed. When we arrived they wanted 26 euros a day to use any facilities eg; bed being turned down at night, use of kettle etc we were under the illusion that a 4* hotel would have a kettle in the room so we didnt bring one! we thought you might be able to use the pool but no. That costs an extra 10 euros per person. Only one bar was open and the maximum amount of beer you could have in one go was a half. You couldnt have any bottled beers unless you paid for them and if you didnt go there you couldnt go anywhere else. They opened 2 bars at the weekend between 10-12 when the spanish were there for the weekend only as soon as they went home the bars were closed again. All of the entertainment was Spanish. The room was nice and the food was okay.
It wasnt bad but it wasnt fantastic
would i go again? No way
They remind me of the all inclusive 3* hotels in costa brava where it is a war trying to get a drink.

I wouldnt go back ever even if it was free and you paid me to go. I've been in all the 4* inclusive hotels in Benidorm and this was definately the worst! Even the 3* hotels were better than this.

Stayed here 3 weeks in Feb. it does make a difference no children running wild, screaming and shouting the place down!
The hotel is spotless in all areas, staff in all departments are great, nothing too much trouble for them and friendly with it, would not be fair to single anyone out by name as they are all fantastic in their own departments
Bedrooms nicely decorated, large comfy beds, great bathroom etc. no noise
The hotel certainly does not scrimp on staff, plenty behind the bar and quick service, the comments about serving the Spanish first not true!!!!! restraurant plenty of staff, never see dirty tables waiting to be attended to and an eye kept on the food dishes, they are never empty
Entertainment above average - 4 nights a week live dancing & most people danced, Mandy from Wigan loved dancing and even got the bar staff in turn to dance with her, they were great sports, thankfully no bingo I think replaced by music quiz, a couple of outside act and no parrots! karoke another night, only night we didnt like was tribute to Abba, love Abba music but not those who tried to take them off, so all in all very good
Busier at weekend as Spanish came for 1 or 2 nights, they were great fun and just loved their dancing
2 couples even insisted we share their cava, how friendly is that?
I am wondering if I was in the same restraunrant to some people who wrote reviews
We never had a cold breakfast, did anyone ask the chef to cook them an ham and cheese omelette, should have done BEST EVER, egg & bacon very tasty plus all other breakfast delights, plenty of choice at lunch time and same at evening always 2 fish & meat, 1 at show cooking & 1 in hot dishes, plus the carvery, how can you have bones in roast beef, port steaks, chicken fillets etc. etc. then there was soup, pizzas, pastas, salads, cold meats, vegs., plenty of sweets & ice cream, fresh fruit, cheese and biscuits, I could go on forever.
You certainly dont get this amount of choice in our house!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good location to the new town and old, 4/5 mins to beach and bus stops, bus and rail fares cheap, 6 euros to rail station in taxi
Only compaint the weather, was quite chilly, but still warmer than England but you cant blame the hotel for that!!!!!!
So well done to One & All at the Monaco, you do a wonderful job, keep it up

I booked this hotel for a party 0f 10 ladies going away for my 50th birthday in June for 4 nights with it being a Spa and adults only hotel. Today i received a call from Thomas Cook saying that this hotel has changed its hotel policy this week and now you can only stay for a min of 5 nights. This holiday was booked last Oct so why the hell are they changing their minds now. How can this be right. My friends have all made arrangements , paid deposits , some paid in full , very very upset this holiday took some sorting and saving for. Ill be bloody lucky to reach 50 after the hassel this hotel has caused me. You shouldnt be able to do this to people. Sandos Monaco how can you sleep at night. DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL ITS UNRELIABLE.
