“Great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Hotel is really nice located. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Room is big enough with lovely bathroom. There is hairdryer. Towels are changed every day. You have small fridge and flat TV. Also safe is provided. Swimming pool is quite big. Well, big enough. Most of the days we spent on the beach.
Across the street is big unfinished building site which seems to be not finished forever. There is a small path to the beach. It takes about 5-10min. It seems to be not nice place at night. There are plenty of empty restaurants. You walk and see how busy was this place couple of years ago and now it is empty.
Hotel is located about 5-10min. from “night life”. There are plenty of pubs, discos, lap dancing and drunk people.
Food- breakfast was fantastic. I do not think that anybody could be hungry. They offer variety of cereals, fresh rolls, cheeses, hams, fresh orange juice, hot food like scrambled eggs, pancakes. They also have sparkling wine! Dinner: there was not some many to choose as in the morning but still quality was very good. Fishes were excellent. I have never been hungry. Only one night we decided to go to the Indian restaurant (as we were fans of Indian food): Clay Oven close to the hotel. Food was amazing. My husband got Madras, I Buttered Chicken. Both were top class. However, for Benidorm prices, Clay Oven is expensive. There are tons of places that offer cheaper food.
We walked the whole Poniente and Levante beach. Promenade is fantastic. You can walk and walk. Old city also is nice however very crowded in the evening. There are tons of shops offering really nice shoes very cheap. Generally, Benidorm is a cheap place.
We went for a half of the day trip to Guadalest. Beautiful place. The bus stops very close to the hotel (Avendida Europa) and return ticket cost €7.50 per person. Ticket to the castle €3. We wanted to go to one of the parks but we were warned that they are packed over weekends.
Most of the days we spent on the beach. Sunbed costs €4 and umbrella €4 so the whole set (2 sunbeds + umbrella) €12 which is really cheap. On Ibiza we paid €12 for only one sunbed!!!
Overall, Benidorm is a nice place for somebody on low budget. Hotel Castilla is an excellent choice.

My family and I stayed here July 2012. The hotel & rooms were spotlessly clean at all times. The pool area was clean with plenty of sun loungers. The food was lovely every day. The evening entertainment let the hotel down and was exactly as Brian I described in his review below. Other than that a great place to stay.

very nice hotel spotless and quiet. no entertainment round the pool in the day so very relaxing, it is a shame about the surroundings with the unfinished cultural building right across the road and the path down to the beach is not the best advert . it is value for money maybe for this reason 2 min to the hectic night and 5 to the beach. the food was nice but was much the same every evening. a little more variety would have been nice .the reviews on here are pretty much spot on not a perfect hotel but very close .

Room Tip: pool view rooms to avoid the night revellers noise

The Servigroup Castilla in Benidorm is a top managed Hotel and we spend there a nice Beach Vacation Week and can recommend this good middle Class Hotel to others. When we made booking, we did not expect anything special, but during the time in the Hotel, we really saw, that they doing there a very friendly Service to the Guests. also the Food - Breakfast Buffet and Dinner - was fresh and nice decorated. Swimmingpool was very clean there. We had a Standard Room and we found that it was in a good average and top clean. Many good Bar and Restaurants beside!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Castilla and couldn't fault the staff, accommodation or the food, all first class.
The only thing we didn't like was the location of the hotel, it is probably only a 10 minute walk to the beach but you either had to walk down the main road or use the "Yellow Brick Road" which is basically a footpath that takes you past a building site and mainly boarded up failed businesses. It was okay to use during the day (although you have to pass a man begging) but we were advised by a guest in the hotel not to use the cut-through at night. We didn't see or experience any problems but we took the advice and walked back a different route.
The view from our room was of the pool but again if you looked left there was an unfinished building with cranes just abandoned (been like that for 3 years apparently) and to the right unused tennis courts which had seen better days and were not used with weeds growing through.
We found Benidorm to be generally scruffy with a lot of failed businesses and boarded up pubs etc although the beach area and promenade cafes a nice area with a good choice of places to eat.
If we came to Benidorm again we would chose a frontline hotel by the beach as for us the Castilla was a little too far out in a rather run- down area.

Room Tip: Try and get a high floor room as quieter.

I can't rate this hotel enough, the staff looked after me from the off and even let me dine after it was closed, very caring and polite..
If I had to find a negative it was the hotel next door being built, although there were no building work going on whilst I was staying there it just looked a bit of an eyesore, but hardly the fault of the hotel (Castilla).
That said a worthy four star and to that end I will definitely be going back!!
