Stayed at the Gran Bali from 17th March - 24th March 2013. This was a last minute booking and we had decided to stay all inclusive for the week - firstly when we arrived it was quite late (flight delayed- obviously no failt of the hotel) however, first impressions were pretty good as the reception area is very spacious and grand to look at with the lighting and the Crome fixtures an fittings. When we arrived in our room, we thought the room was rather narrow with no space to keep the cases other than on a sofa bed, the view however was rather amazing, on the 19th floor looking over the Med and the whole of Benidorm. If you suffer from vertigo I suggest you request a lower level room! The hotel is situated at the far end of Benidorm (the very quiet end) if you like quiet then this will be perfect- the beach is a stones throw away - again very quiet. If your looking to eat out or hit the bars, then it will be about a 45 mins walk to the old town, or you can opt for the bus or taxi ( both available outside the hotel) the new town is about another 30-40 mins walk. This is where all the action is - lively beaches, bars and restaurants. Getting back to the hotel- the "all inclusive" was less then impressive. Day time snacks included a wafer thin ham and cheese sandwich, plain crips and obviously fruit juices/water or alcohol - with no variety on the food side of things- same sandwich day in day out. The meals had variety tho very bland - if your expecting English food then you are in for a let down- I'm all for trying new foods so English wasn't an option for us- however the Spanish wasn't up to scratch either. My advise is to eat out! Also meal times are late if you have children - not really much to keep children occupied either ( not sure if this is due to being out of season). The rooms are attended to each day, towles and bedding changed daily, bathroom cleaned and refreshed. You see the maids cleaning all day which is reassuring. The staff on the other hand are friendly with a few not so friendly and will go out of their way to be most unhelpful. Also been all inclusive means you drink out of plastic cups whethe ur by the pool or not - you have ask for a glass each time you get your drink ( 2 at a time mind) also at the bar you are not treated the same as the Spanish guests an have to que in a single file to get a drink whilst te rest of the bar is left empty or soley to attend to the Spanish. The hotel entertainment is lacking entertaining - if you want to watch ball room dancing every night then I suggest you make you own entertainment - head to the old town, eat tapas, drink wine go shopping!!!!! Anything but stay in !

So overall I wouldn't say the hotel is bad - it's just unfortunate it's in a bad location with nothing to do - staff are on a whole are ok and friendly - the food is the biggest let down and with with no resturants close by your stuck !!

I hope you enjoy your stay if you do decide to go!

just back from hotel bali lovely hotel clean and friendly staff.dont take any notice of the knockers moaning about the food we went all inclusive and the choice of dishes were very good with at least three different ones every day, what you have to realise is that its a spanish hotel not an english one if you want typical english sausages and bacon instead of spanish ones go to devon not here,on saying that the cooked breakys in the morn were great with hash browns spanish bacon .sausages beans, every cooked egg you could think of ,cereals, fruit, rolls, bread, toast etc.we went with our 18 month old a word of warning this time of year no entertainment and not geared up for kids in any way shape or form thou only a five min walk to great beach which he loved, the hotel has a 4 star which is spanish rating not english, the hotel is still learning about all inclusive with only long life cheese and ham sarnies from the fridge and crisps thats the only day time snacks available this time of year.the times of the evening meal is one to watch if got young children they dont open for dinner until 730pm which is typical spanish late evening eating and no good when your kids are starving and ready for bed after a day on the beach at 630.plenty of eating places about thou to grab and take back, the hotel is in a very quiet location and great views we were on the 36 floor looking over the med ,the balconeys have a very high concrete and glass handrail so there is no chance of little ones trying to climb over and with glass on top they can still see the view which was good, overall we enjoyed the gran bali but would not go again with little one having nothing to play on while outside.remember this a spanish hotel not an english one catering for all not just english,

Room Tip: most are good over looking the beach

we stayed here over Christmas it was great, no last minute food shopping or stressfull cooking or washing up! we arrived late at night and there was a cold buffet for us which was fine, Christmas dinner was traditional turkey ( just 1 of the 10 courses ) ! the food on the whole was good, plenty of choice,
as it was December it wasn't boiling hot but the kids had wetsuits so still went in the pool, we just sat and watched chilling with a cava :)
drinks were typical AI local beer/ spirits etc
Beware this hotel is huge and not in central Benidorm, we had a hire car so got around ok but there is a 10 euro per day parking fee, you could park down the side streets but my hubby said they looked dodgy! there was taxis and a bus stop right outside tho
also if u don't like heights ask for a lower floor, its 43 floors high! the views of Benidorm bay were stunning,
overall a great Christmas break, just wish we could do it every year !
