Forget the star ratings;my wife and I stayed in December for 10 days half board for a total holiday cost of £500.,and for the people who moan about this hotel, please compare this to what is available for that price in the UK.The rooms are spotlessly clean. The staff are fine, perhaps a bit aloof ,but that is the Spanish way.We like our food, and there is always a wide choice.Ok,they dont serve prime fillet steak, but the cheap cuts of meat are usually tastilly cooked.Plenty of choice with salads, and usually fish on offer. The Spaniards staying here at this time of year,as most of the other guests, are mainly pensioners and can be a little noisy, but the only boorish behaviour we witnessed came from fellow English guests Exellent cheap bus service almost outside the front door.Lovely walk along the coast to Villajosa Almost certain mild Weather in winter. What more could you wish for?

The Gran Bali has definately lost a star in ratings and is now a 4 star and after our experiance their last week, it is definately over rated........it needs a total refurbishment....starting with new beds as they are as hard as sleeping on the floor.......next to no sleep all week.....the resteraunts were done as a buffett free for all......literally........the food was not up to a standard of a 4 star hotel let alone a 5 star...it was joke...... the only positive about the Gran Bali is the staff, very friendly, efficent and nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: Don't stay at the Bali if you need your sleep......they say the higher you are the less noise...

just returned on 15/12/12.definately not 4 star!! menu was same every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner(with the odd exception)all inclusive was almost a joke-- crisps(plain),drinks from bar served in a plastic cup,hot drinks in a paper cup and these were served at a corner of the bar reserved exclusively for all inclusive guests-talk about second rate citizens!!
rooms ok but beds like sleeping on a board.
spanish residents very rude and aggressive in restaurant area, staff ok but not over enthusiastic.

Myself and my partner travelled to the hotel at the end of November 2012 to celebrate his Birthday. After reading the reviews on here I must say I was very apprehensive. We arrived quite late on the Sunday evening and had a very nice welcome from the reception staff, not at all rude or unhelpful like I had heard.

We stayed in the 2nd smaller building which was disappointing at first but enjoyed looking at the bigger building instead. One thing about the smaller building is that the lifts can tolerate 2-3 average size persons before beeping for someone to get out.

The room was nice, clean, tidy and spacious. Have no faults at all with the room. Towel changes when needed, plenty of hot water.

Food wise, It's what you would expect to find on many all inclusive buffet style holidays. Lots of chips, fish, salad, cheese and bread etc. There were a few nights where there were 'specials' such as kebabs (which were not British at all and very yummy) but pretty repetitive. Honestly, what else do you expect?

About half an hours walk up the main road, there is a Walmart type supermarket. They have a deli place in store that does really good lunch deals. I would recommend heading there for a change.

We had no issues with other hotel customers 'saving' sun loungers and there was only one night where there was noise but that wasn't the fault of the hotel. The noise can be a little too much in the evening but what you expect when you're watching a band.

All in all, what you would expect from an all inclusive holiday. Very clean and presentable hotel. Would visit again.
