Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 11, 2014

First time to the Rio Park unlike the majority of travellers who stay here, which speaks for itself.

Myself and my friend had a fantastic time. The staff are exceptional and cannot help you enough.

Although the hotel is very large you never feel overwhelmed as there are many places to go and relax, we were still finding reading and t v rooms the day before we left.

There is one captain to this ship and his name is Jose. He is a true gentleman and a great entertainer, you can see how much the staff admire him and I think this is where the lovely atmosphere in the hotel comes from. It is such a pity he is retiring and I do hope the next manager will take a leaf out of his book and not make too many drastic changes

The selection of food is excellent and I have never stayed in a two star hotel where you get beautiful smoked salmon and fresh tiger prawns on the menu. We spoke to a few guest who had been coming for years and they thought the food standard had slipped so I cannot imagine how it must have been before.

The hotel is spotless and the cleaning staff work tirelessly to ensure this is so. The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels.

The three bar areas are all completely different so there should be something to suit everyone who visits. The prices are unbelievably cheap which is great when you are full board and not all inclusive. Bar staff do a great job and the professional entertainment acts are very good. Yes the entertainment is geared for the more mature guest, mainly for getting up and doing the alley cat or line dancing but I can tell you they put me to shame as the dance floor was full every night and they all had a good 20-30 years on me. The staff shows could be a bit repetitive but what a laugh and you have to remember these guys are not a professional act but could put some of the ones I have seen to shame.

I have no complaints about this hotel and only very happy memories, I hope to be back again.

P.S. keep watering the roses

Room Tip: We had room 515 which had more room since there was no sofa in it but it overlooks the front of the...

Just returned from another great holiday at this hotel and must say things are still amazing for a two star hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The communial areas were spotless and cleaned every day even the pool area and due to the cold no one was using it. The bar prices are very reasonable, my round of drinks cost only 3 euros for a pint of lager and a martini and lemonade (proper martini). food was a great selection on all meals, the dessert counter had a selection of up to 6 different cakes, ice creams, and fruit. Our room was spotless and contained very comfortable beds and the air con/heat worked perfectly. We had maid service every day including clean towels. bed linen changed after 4 days. SADLY the manager is retiring at the end of February and the restaurant manager has already gone. I only hope the new management continue maintain the standards.

Room Tip: we emailed and requested a low level room and got 1 on the first floor

Arrived New Years Eve lunchtime for a 3 week stay. Once again had a wonderful time. This hotel is so friendly. All the staff are so helpful. If you should have a problem it's sorted in no time. Met some great friends from previous visits and made some new ones this time. Sad to hear that the manager Jose is retiring. Have a happy, healthy and well earned retirement Jose. You will be missed. The new manager has a hard act to follow in his footsteps. There were many rumours going round the hotel as to what changes were going to be made when Jose retires. Please Med Playa don't spoil this hotel by changing anything. Everyone enjoys it as it is, that's why we keep returning.

Room Tip: we prefer poolside rooms

Have been going to this hotel for 21years,This is the first time it has not lived up to expectations. The food was not always hot, ,and that was going in to the resraurant as it opened. The breakfast was always hot. The entertainment was not as good as it has been.It is still very clean, and friendly. I wish Jos"e all the best in his retirement. There is ONE room in the hotel that has a shower cubical. It was very good. Stayed 28 december to 25january , with my friend.

We have stayed at the Rio Park three times. The first two times we were really impressed with the food, cleanliness and the staff. We stayed the second two weeks in January and sadly we felt that the standard of the hotel had gone down. The food was pretty awful at lunch and dinner although the breakfast was good with a good choice. We had asked for a room overlooking the pool but this was'nt to be so after moving from one gloomy room to another we ended facing the building site. The telephone in our room was broken so when we had a problem with something at 1.30 in the morning I had to go and get security in my nightie and a fleece. It was very noisey at night so take your earplugs. The grab rail in the bathroom was alo hanging off though was repaired once reported. Some communication problems with reception who insisted I had dialled the wrong number for reception when infact the phone, was out of order this was only rectified when I spoke to the manager. On the plus side drinks are cheap, atmosphere good and plenty of outside seating. Sorry Rio Park we won't be back again but have had some good holidays there in the past.Sue and mum Bromley

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool

Been coming to this hotel with family and friends since I was 16 and Jose has always been there leading the team and creating a fantastic, friendly and welcoming family atmosphere. Sad to hear he is retiring as the manager and would just like to wish him all the best and hope he has a long and happy retirement, Jose has worked hard over the years and you will be sorely missed. I hope whoever takes your place is as friendly and welcoming as you.

This is the 4th time we have stayed here and will continue to. Comfortable, clean, lovely food and friendly helpful staff. Who ever the new manager is - please dont change a winning formula.
Sangria here is the best ive tasted but try the Cheap n Cheerful bar just past the Castilla hotel (minutes walk from Rio Park) for a few cheap bevvies.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are generally sunnier and not as breezy.
