“Nice hotel”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

We stayed from 25th sept For ten days . The hotel is very clean was impressed for money we payed was value for for money ! Rooms were basic but all you need . We're cleaned every day . Food was nice and lots of choice . Only one massive point that would make me think twice about booking again is the beds !!! Wow so hard really struggled sleeping . I see it's been mentioned in other reviews if the hotel maybe bought some mattress toppers for those who don't like hard beds I would go back no problem . Overall a good hotel .

Hotel was ok... Had a massive hole in my bathroom floor and mould on my door!! Food was amazing!! Location ok... But beware of muggers on the yellow brick road!! For over 60's rather than a 20 year old me!! Bit I went with parents last minute and paid £600 for a single room over looking trash cans!!!

First of all for a 2 star hotel I cannot complain the food is good for a 2 star they do a mean apple crumble and we were never lost for something to eat. A good decent breakfast including black pudding which was yummy, the omelettes are lovely to. "Be warned this reastaurant is not set out very well, the traffic flow is chronic, and if you dont make your cuppa tea in 30 seconds you will be crushed alive by walking sticks and zimmers. I had it down to 20 seconds I just did the tea and took a glass of milk to the table to add to tea later.. There are two tea/coffee machines but no one seems to notice the one on the far left asyou walk in so head for that, and the salad bar on the left seems to get ignored aswell. The beds in this hotel are light beds on wheels , if you sit on th bed with your back against the wall the bed moves hahaha. You can hear every sound conversations etc, thewalls are paper thin. But that didnt spoil our holiday. The rooms are spotless towels and bedding changed every day, we were on the 9th floor try get lower floors as you wait ages for the lifts and when they finally arrive there full wheelchairs andd zimmers so you cant get in. This hotel had a large number of older guests. The manager has a lovely sense of humour about him, pity i can't say that about his bar staff in the main bar, they never smiled. Happy hour is a big con it states 8-11 then th bar staff charge you full price and say its half eight? dont be caught out with the vodka and lemon 1 euro 50 as its vodka and lemon not lemonade so express you want vodka and lemon if you only want to pay 1 euro 50 or you will be charged 2.00. The beers nice, we found the bar attached to the hotel called the rio corner which you can come into from the street is very cheap and the staff are lovely cheaper baguettes than the hotel. Thehotel is located in a great spot for going to thebars, be careful some bars con you on the2 for one the country western place conned us charging us a drink 2 euros get second free they charged us 4 euros so we saved nowt and the club with the amazing lights on stage charge you 4 euros a drink so dont get stung..The chinese down the road from hotel was cheap 6 euro 3 courses and a drink food was nice. This hotel has a lovely friendly atmosphere about it but i think its because of the elder. large prescence of repsn on hand which is good all very friendly.Nowt for kids and entertainment bit corney, we went out every night. the Tiki city bar was great music on day and night and staff lovely friendly we had many nice afternoon here cheap drinks. Benidorm is great for cheeky weeks but even in October it was heaving in the old town.

Stayed here for a week 14th - 21st October, check in very quick and efficient though on entering room there was a leg missing off the bed which meant I nearly fell off it as it went in the air but this was fixed within the hour once reported and all ok then. The room is basic but a decent enough size and there is plenty space for clothes and toiletires etc, cleaned every day and bed linen changed once during the week and towels every day.

There is a large choice at meal times and always something you could have, we have found this hotel to be much better for food variety and quality than other places we have tried hence our 3rd visit. There is a large concert room and and a pub, bingo area, seating areas which were popular and the staff worked hard. Bar and snack food prices are reasaonable.

As mentioned by other reviwers there is a long cobbled road, referred to a yellow brick road which leads to the front in Benidorm and we used this and felt safe although there is other ways to go to avoid this if uneasy using it, we walked the back way via the road on a night which is about the same distance. In general Benidorm is a fantastic place to visit and the beach and local streets are kept very clean and litter free, Rio Park is about 5 minutes walk to the nighlife and about 15 mins walk to the Old Town.

Would recomed this hotel still as there is good attention to customer service and detail.

We booked this hotel as we had heard it was highly recomended and the reviews seemed to be all good. My wife and I went for a week more just to chill out than anything.
We went through Thomsons and was Half Board, we went between 13/10/2012 and 20/10/2012.
The hotel is about a good 5 minute walk from the nightlife centre i.e. pubs, night clubs etc. It is about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach (Depending on which part you go to) The easiest route is what they call down the yellow brick road, although we had heard that there had been some muggings etc so we avoided that way on an evening.
The hotel is around the 3 star mark so its rating is pretty accurate.
The place is ok in general, it won't win any prizes for top decor but the place is clean, wall spacious and the staff all seemed pretty friendly.
Our room was on the seventh floor, so it meant lifts most of the time, the room was bright and airy. The room was cleaned daily, the towels changed dialy.
The beds were very hard (Two singles pushed together), we asked for extra pillows and were given these no problem. However this only went someway to helping, the beds it's best to say did not go down too well with either of us.
The restaraunt was always busy at first sitting so we tended to go later after the rush.
The food was always plentiful, the choice varied and generally well cooked. We never went without, no matter what time you went.
We had one gripe in the restaraunt whether it be morning or evening, and that was that clearing the tables seemed to be rather slow at times. Some of the tmes you had to clear a table off when you got there and also get your own cutlery.
We only had a few drinks in the hotel, this was usually in the day time as we went out every night.
Around the pool was great, no matter what time of day you would always get a sun lounger. There were the odd times that someone reserved the beds but it was not widespread.
Due to the hotel and surrounding other buildings the sun had to be chased through the day, there were times that you would be in the shade no matter what. The pool area was well maintained, kept well clean and the area in general very quiet.
The hotel it's best to say is very popular with the older click so to speak, many of these go back year after year or even 2-3 times a year so it must be doing something right!
We felt very comfortable at the Rio Park. This was our third stay in a Medi Player Hotel. The RiuDor in Benidorm, The Bali in Benalmadena.
The hotels they have are all pretty good, know whet they need to do and do it.

Would we go here again, Yes.

Room Tip: Ask if possible for a comfortable bed!!!!!!!

We have just returned from Rio Park having spent a week there. We had never been to Benidorm before. The hotel was very nice. The pool area was huge with no worries about finding a sunbed, there were hundreds of them. We thought the food was excellent, so much choice, the only downside in the dining room was the amount of noise going on, what with everyone talking and the waiters crashing the crockery on the the trolleys when clearing up. The double room we stayed in was adequate but on the small side. Unfortunately we had no sun on our balcony at any time. However, the weather was lovely, the beach was lovely and we had some nice walks to the old town which was interesting. We took a trip on the bus to Mundamur wildlife park which is well worth a visit, the bus fare was 1.45 euro pp and took about 10 mins, (a tip if you are catching a bus is to put your hand out to stop it or it will just go flying past!). We also took the train to Alicante which was a nice ride, it took 1hr 20 mins and cost 6.15 pp return which was good value. We thought the holiday was very good value, food and drink very cheap. The room was kept lovely and clean by a very nice maid who could speak English. The staff in the hotel were not always very smiley but on the whole everyone was quite helpful.

Room Tip: We were on the sixth floor, I'm not sure which side of the hotel we were on but we had no sun on...

My wife & I stayed at the RP for the 1st time in Sept 2012.
We have been to Benidorm on numerous occassions staying at the Don Pancho & Calypso.
Staff at the RP were great. Hotel is spotless. Maids are very friendly. Food was good, a little bland at times in the evening but still decent. The location is spot on. Pool area is spacious with plenty of sunbeds. Pools are large and well laid out. Rooms are a little small compared to some but adequate. Our only comment would be that the bathroom in our room (126) needed a refurb.
Please do not believe the negative comments, this is a nice hotel. We believe that the RP was excellent VFM.
Would we go back? Definitely!!
