Just back from staying at this lovely hotel on the seafront in Benidorm on Levante beach. The rooms were spotless and all the staff we met could not have been more friendly and efficient. Incidentally, if you are flying into Alicante airport and are wondering how to get to Benidorm catch the express bus from Alicante airport (level 2 departures) and for just under 9 Euros the bus drops you off behind the Cimbel hotel which is literally a 2 minute walk at Avenida Europa which is the second stop. Leaves on the hour both ways.....better than a 60 Euro taxi fare!!
I only have to comment on two things which were not so good. The lifts in the hotel.....there were only 2 and they were VERY slow and small. They were supposed to hold 8 people but really 4 was the maximum and at meal times especially breakfast it took ages to get up and down. The other thing was the breakfast....there was a big buffet and pleanty of food but it really was not very good quality and I certainly would not have wanted half board or even full board. It was simply "ok". Outside the hotel are lots of bars and resaturants within a few minutes walk which I would do another time. Other than that, the location of the Cimbel could not be better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room FACING the sea as the side rooms are a bit noisy from the street below and do not hav...

Drove into the city without any reservation or a clue as where to stay. After checking out a few 4 star establishments 2-4 blocks up from the beach which were all full, I stumbled across this hotel which cost half of the other ones and had a far better location.

I was first put in a room facing the city at €50/night. I felt like having a sea view, and managed to get a large superior corner room with a terrace for €80/night. Room safe costs €1,50/night plus a €10 refundable deposit. Parking in the cramped garage costs €13 per day, but judging from how many cars were illegaly parked just outside the entrance, you might as well put it there for free.

Room was nice, but lacked atmosphere, a few pictures on the walls would be a nice addition. Lighting was garish and bed was actually too firm for me who tend to like firm beds. Walk-in closet and a nice, squeaky clean bathroom with a good choice of amenities. A/C with heating or cooling, and a terrace which easily fit a table and two chairs with room to spare. Hallway door doesn't block very much noise, but the hallways are carpeted and most of the guests geriatrics, so no problems sleeping. Ice-cold stocked minibar in the ample desk, with a couple of stainy wine glasses which I cleaned before using. TV only had BBC World News and Sky News as english choices among spanish, german, french and dutch channels, which I found a bit lacking.

I didn't have any food or drinks at the hotel, so can't comment on service or quality there, but reception staff was very polite and helpful no matter what time of day/night. Lobby has plenty of comfortable seating, a nice bar area and even a massage chair if you fancy that.

The hotel room was lovely. Large room with large balcony. I asked for the top floor on booking and I got it. I was happy. The pool area is lovely but spoilt by the impolite and unfriendly waiters. Trying to order a drink at the poolside, proved to be quite a difficult tast. The location of the hotel was perfect and our sea view room and sea view area from poolside was heaven too. The breakfast was terrible and not much selection. We didn't dine in the hotel due to the slack breakfast and unfriendly waiters. The hotel staff on Reception were very helpful and friendly.
A perfect hotel if they improved the poolside service and friendliness of the waiters and improved their selection and standard of breakfast. Bedroom was always cleaned to high standards.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 4th floor.

This is a lovely modern hotel situated on the esplanade on the sea front ten minutes walk from the old town. It is very clean and the staff are pleasant. BUT ! What my wife and I were not expecting was the fact for most of our stay there we were the only English hoiday makers there this was excentuated by the fact it didn't stop raining for most of the time we were there so we were unable to have communication with anyone else in the hotel all the week as we sadly do not speak Spanish. The bed was absolutely flat and very hard indeed. The ony English channels on the TV were the BBC News or Sky News which rotated every 30 minutes. The food was waiter service which sounds OK but in practice because we could not see what was on offer before it arrived it didn't turn out to be what we expected . example. Pork fillets uncooked in the middle, not good practice. Chicken, meat still red. Breakfast, very limited choice of cooked food but at least we could see what was on offer,ie a large tray of runny scrambled egg. so from day two we chose to have breakfast and dinner at one of the many local restaurants. The hotel had no information of where to go, in English, so it was difficult to get a taxi and give the driver a destination. Please just make sure that your hotel is offering what you need for your holiday.ours looked very good on paper. but was different from our previous Spanish hotels. So make sure you always read TripAdvisor before booking.
