After a few days partying in Javea (approx 50 minutes from Benidorm), my partner and I together with a friend, decided on a Saturday night in Benidorm before leaving for London from Alicante.

As it was a UK school mid-term holiday and a long-weekend (Jubilee) in UK, Benidorm seems to have been a favoured destination for a lot of people and a lot of the hotels were full. Our friend left Javea first on a mission to explore the Benidorm party-town hype and secure hotel rooms for us all. He found that the hotels on the north beach were full but managed to get a room at Cimbel who recommended he try the hotel next door for us. The hotel next door was full and when he explained that at Cimbel they miraculously found a great room for us so when we travelled-down from Jave at 5PM, we were expected and the key was waiting.

The room on the 7th floor was at the side of the hotel with a sea view veranda. VERY spacious room (with two adjoined single beds that were very comfortable), lovely spacious and clean bathroom and everything spick and span. Wireless internet was free for 12 hours and after a wireless week in Javea, this was just the job. There's a nice bar downstairs, restaurant and a pool and the desk staff were charming, courteous and helpful.

We didn't eat at the hotel but instead accepted the front-desk helpfulness in finding a restaurant in the town (review of that elsewhere here on Tripadvisor). When we got back to the hotel at about 23:00, there was a band playing and lots of couples having a fine time dancing in the warm evening sea air. Breakfast on Sunday morning was in the restaurant next to the bar - nothing posh: hot coffee, fresh fruit, croissants, pastries, cheeses and ham - all self-serve and all OK.

The noticeable thing about this hotel was that the clientele was predominantly 50+ age-group. Not sure if this is the norm or whether it's the pre-summer chance to enjoy a bit of sunshine before the clubbers arrive from UK, Holland and Germany - anyway, a very pleasant clientele and everybody seemed happy enough with their lot.

For Euros 107 for the night (breakfast and wi-fi included), we were very happy with the whole situation and the hotel location is excellent at the junction of Europa and the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room with veranda but the side rooms with sea view veranda are certainly OK too.

This hotel is lovely and has the most amazing views of beach. My friend and i were on 1st floor and really loved sitting on our balcony watching the world go by. Cimbel had mainly older guests which as we are in our 40s suited us. The only downfalls were the tv only had sky news which was not like home and so awfull, i do like to be able to watch tv in bed so this was not good as most channels were german. Also the younger bar staff were ignorant with no please or thankyou at all, in fact they looked at us like sh++ which was not good, why do the job if you cannot be polite to guests. Breakfast was ok and mostly continental apart from cold bacon and eggs one day and warm hot dogs the other, would not recommend half board at all as not buffet style. All in all would defo go back if it was for a few night break...like i say bar staff were ignorant which was not good.

Room Tip: Ask for front facing beach view and low floor for better view as all rooms are above not ground leve...

I arrived at the hotel at around noon. my room was not ready but the reception were helpful and securely stored my luggage while I went out for an hour. I travelled alone and was happy to find a double bed in the room. I was not so happy to find no balcony [i was not expecting a see view]
all the sea view rooms have balconies.it looked as though at least 2 rooms on each floor were without balconies.
I was only bed and breakfast. food was ok but I did go out for breakfast twice.
I paid for a safety box[in the room] but there were no instructions on how to use it. again reception were helpful and came up to the room to help out.
air conditioning was ineffective in my room
hotel was very clean, towels a bit disappointing
room did have a mini bar, tv and hair dryer. tv had sky news and bbc world news only in english
walk in shower, bidet..no bath. the shower was very good.
Very good location

Other than location this hotel has very little going for it , It is a has been,4 star hotel, our visit was over the Xmas period , and there was no Christmas spirit at all, no entertainment and very little effort at Xmas decoration. The food was very ordinary, I have had better 10euro Spanish menus,The parking is expensive,The corridors to rooms are dismal, and the two lifts are slow and not up to the job when the hotel is full.We left a day early as we both had a bad case of the Montazumas..

Classy hotel, local area looks great but the demographic is 70% working class noisy British with no culture.

Unfortunatly this nice hotel is in the wrong location. I will never ever return... these low class local morons make me feel ashamed to take my British passport out of my purse.

Room Tip: Aviod because of the massive presence of Britains worst example of our citizens
