“Good stay in Sol Ocas”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Arrived mid day at Sol Pelicanos to find two receptionists checking in guests, so after a short wait we were told we would be staying next door at Sol Ocas. Check in next door was polite and quick and we were soon in our 9th floor room. We were at the back side of the hotel overlooking the indoor market, no balcony and the window only opened 6" for safety reasons. Now this isn't such a problem if yr a non smoker but my wife is, so we immediately called to see if we could be moved.
We were told it wouldn't be possible today and to call back the following day to check, however they did send maintenance man to remove the safety catch as long as we would sign a waiver. This was done and my wife was happy.
We did in fact remain in the same room as they are very clean having recently been refurbished, fixtures and fittings of the room and bathroom are to a good standard.
On the outside we found no problems getting a sunbed although this is out of school holidays so during peak periods i can imagine it being a problem. The pool at Sol Ocas was much quieter than next doors at Pelicanos although on two occasions we tried next door we never found a problem getting a sunbed. This pool is massive and a credit to the hotel however it didn't seem to open the swim up pool bar while we were there, not a major moan but it would have been nice.
The location of the hotel is great as its close enough to everything, a short 5 min walk and you're on the seafront. A 2min walk and you're in the heart of the entertainment. The indoor market is nextdoor, yet we weren't disturbed at all.
We stayed B&B only so i can comment on the breakfast alone which was great, good enough choice each morning of regular English along with freshly prepared omelette's.
The one gripe that could easily be remedied is the toast, always a queue at the one toaster. Come on Sol provide more toasters and you'll get top marks!!

Overall a good clean hotel and i would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms face the indoor market so if you want a pool view go even. The lifts are good so...

Have just returned from a weeks stay in the Pelicanos (22nd- 29th sept) , perfect holiday from start to finish . Travelled with my mum and my 9 yr old daughter ,check-in was smooth and reception staff were very pleasant , went straight to our room , on arriving a maid came and made up the pull out double bed and happily brought us extra pillows when we asked for them .We stayed All inclusive and it was great , the food was plentiful and always a good selection ,we did eat out a few times for lunch as we were out and about .
Hotel is spotlessly clean , the pools are beautiful , myself and my daughter had lots of fun (i'm not a fan of water but felt very safe ) .
The staff are really friendly and interact with guests , really unsure where the bad reviews come from but i'm guessing its from the surly miserable buggers with no manners you always come across ....... we got chatting to quite a few other guests and would often sit them in the evenings , even got friendly terms with a few spanish guests (well a smile and hola/hiya due to language barrier) ..........
I celebrated my 40th birthday whilst there and mum was able to arrange table to be reserved with banner and a cake to be brought out whilst we had our evening meal , resteraunt staff sang 'happy birthday' it was a lovely touch and really made my day special .
The entertainment was really good and it was nice to be sat outside in the cool , again the staff were fabulous and work so hard , special mention to Jose who was hysterical , so funny ...........even if i did have to get on stage when my daughter asked him to wish me happy birthday haha
All in all , a spotlessly clean , well ran and friendly hotel with lovely hardworking staff , the bar staff always had a smile and the service they give is a credit to the hotel , will definately be back !

We stayed for 4 days from 24th Sept. and drove down from our apartment in NE Spain.
We had read that the Ocas was a nice place to up-grade to, but it was 18 euros a day....and we had to pay 18 euros a day to park, so we stuck with the Pelicanos. They also wanted 5euros a day if you wanted a fridge and 10euros dep. for a hairdryer.
The room was nice and clean with a modern bathroom. There was a small balcony.
We had booked B&B only as wanted to eat out and the breakfast was fine. Plenty of choice for all.
The pool was fabulous and warm enough for a long swim.....unfortunately the area around the pool is slippy..and I took a real tumble, There was also some black mould in various places under the water which should be dealt with.
The drinks were fine and not too expensive and the staff were quite nice, but had the usual lack of customer service that goes being Spanish!
Overall is was a great trip and we'd go back again, it was nice to see where "Benidorm" was filmed!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 14th floor..it was nice and quiet!

Just back from Sol Pelicanos in Benidorm. Nice hotel in good position for nightlife and beach. Hotel is very clean and staff excellent. Large pool area is great and no problem getting sun beds. Food was very good plenty to choose from and no complaints from us. I would definetly stay here again.

After our initial annoyance at being put in the Ocas after requesting the Pelicanos we found the rooms where excellent and the pool area was clean and well maintained. The bar prices where a bit on the steep side (thank god for happy hour 5 to 6). Our main complaint was the quality and quantity of the food. It seemed, after paying a sneeky visit to the Pelicanos that we where treated as the poor relations in the dining room. The food was often cold, in short supply or burnt. On one evening they ran out of Steak, Fish and stew at the same time, the veg. that night was rather yellow looking cauliflower and some sprouts that where welded to the tray.So our advise to anyone staying at The Ocos to use the restaurant over at the Pelicanos, there seems to be more choice, music and a much nicer atmosphere over there.

just returned from sol pelicanos again been there for 10 nights, this time we ended up in the sister hotel ocas, it has just been done out, the rooms are very nice, they dont have a bath just a big walk in shower, the only down fall is if you get a room on the back of the hotel you dont get a balcony, but you get a balcony on the front, the hotel restaurant is spotless, and the food is very nice, a great selection for all, including all the moaning people aswell, you no the people, are you one of them yourself.....anyhow no faults with this hotel yet again, great location very central, will put a photo of the balcony side that looks onto one of the small pools.

We stayed for 5 nights in Sept on a bed & breakfast basis and were allocated the Ocas. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean, flat screen TV, comfortable beds, pleasant balcony and fridge with no rules about what you could or could not put in!

The pools and surrounding areas were vast, very clean and well maintained.

This hotel does b & b, half board, full board and all inclusive - I can't comment on the restaurant at lunch or dinner as we ate out but the breakfast selection was fantastic and the snacks at the pool bar were quite good. Bar prices were over the odds against what you were paying outside but that is to be expected.

It's also only a few hundred yards from the hub of the nightlife but far enough away for noise not to be a problem.

Room Tip: Don't be put off a street facing room in the Ocas - we had 506. Plenty late afternoon sun and id...
