This hotel is in a perfect location for benidorm's old town, its friendly and its cheap. The downside is that its old fashioned, the rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. The room we had has a squeaky bed, a detached headboard, a shower that didn't drain properly and an air extract directly outside the bedroom window. But the. people were friendly and the price was good. We would come back for location and price.

Had the most perfect afternoon in the terrace bar which looks fantastic, I would imagine even more so at dusk. The layout and setting were perfect with the rattan seating and beautiful planting and decor, it was fantastic just laying out, chilling and chatting with a bit of music and a few cool drinks. Tony was a wonderful host and nothing was too much trouble, he even picked our drinks! Such a relaxing way to calm down after a nights partying, our afternoon was heaven - thank you Tony.

Not a bad B&B, but there are nicer ones around the corner. Staff are very friendly and helpful, but not very experienced - we turned up around 11am and were told that we could check-in straight away but 2 minutes later they said the room wouldn't be ready until 2pm. We came back at 2pm to find out that the room wasn't ready because they had forgot to do it, so we waited 15 mins for the room to be cleaned. The room was very basic and badly in need of re-furbishment; we did have a Double Bed but it was very small. there was one single wardrobe, one side cabinet, one 3 drawer cabinet, no bedside lamp and no mirror or dressing table for the Missus to do her hair. The balcony overlooks a street and the building opposite is mere feet away. The en-suite shower was very small and I kept knocking the on/off lever all the time and turning off the shower which was very annoying, although in its defence the water was hot and powerful at all times. We had clean towels every 2 days and the room was cleaned regularly. There is Air Con but there is a good ceiling fan with 4 speeds.

We were half board and the food is very good, especially the Rack of Ribs which are the best I have ever tasted ! However, it is a Bar menu and the choice is very limited with no starter or dessert choices. They have an agreement with the pub on the corner where you can eat there if you wish - we ate there for the last 3 evenings as the food was nicer and they had starter and dessert choices too.

Be aware that all the rooms are above the cafe/bar area and it was very noisy until the early hours if the bar was full. You can also hear all the party revellers in the street too as the windows/ doors to the balcony are not a good fit and do not do a very good job of keeping noise out !

If you are Homophobic this is not the place for you, as the Bar is constantly frequented by Gays, Tranvestites and Drag Queens. We are not in this bracket and found them all to be a very friendly bunch who enjoy a good laugh.

All in all we did enjoy our stay at the Babylon and we wanted a cheap holiday, so you get what you pay for. Would we stay here again ? Probably not with the hotel in its current state, but Tony the owner has bought the building next door and plans to extend with a total refurbishment under way. Once this is all complete I would imagine it would be a very welcoming place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 202. There is one refurbished room which you can request apparently.

As per a previous review, we do not understand the rave reviews about this hotel? We chose this property because of the previous good comments, however our experience does not reflect these good comments as we did not have a good stay here.

Firstly we would like to say that Tony and his team are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooftop terrace is great and has a good atmosphere. Juan and Alistair are great bar hosts. Karen is new to the team and is very attentive too.

We are not ones to whinge and as you will see from all our other reviews they are all positive and this is the first negative review we have written and we will give fair criticism.

We were informed the hotel was full and we were allocated room 205 which was extremely basic with an extremely uncomfortable bed with an very old, thin and squeaky mattress which made for the worst bed we have ever slept on in a hotel. We did try a few other hotels to move too but they were all full and as British Airways wanted a substantial fee to change our flights back to London we decided to stay and try to make the most of a bad situation.

The reception area is not particularly welcoming and the main restaurant area is more akin to a cafe. The slot machines should be removed.

All four walls in the bedroom are plain white with not one picture or mirror on any wall, it was like a cell. The furniture is very basic and there were no bedside lamps, only one main ceiling light. There is nothing positive to say about this room.

The bathroom was also very basic and although we had major problems with the shower plumbing, Tony was very quick to have it fixed and offered us a free nights stay if we go back. This was a very kind offer.

The room was cleaned daily to an acceptable standard.

The location is very good and is centrally located in Old Benidorm close to the night life.

The team have great plans for an improved restaurant and roof terrace however I would suggest that they invest in entire room refurbishment including new beds/mattresses, fixtures and fittings and bathroom facilities.

Room Tip: Avoid room 205

On the third night of our 4day girls trip to Benidorm we decided to have a night out in the old town, while having a drink in Oliver's Bar we met Tony the owner of The Babylon. We had decided that the next trip to Benidorm it would be nice to stay in a more traditional hotel, Tony invited us to call at The Babylon and check out the roof terrace bar. We returned the following day, we had a fab time, I am only sorry we didn't find it sooner. Will defiantly be returning next time in Benidorm. Thanks Tony you are a gem, will recommend The Babylon to my friends. Looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: Didn't stay but will do next time.

We have booked to stay at the babylon in July 2013. On a recent trip to Benidorm we decided to check out this hotel. We had a drink on the roof top bar and I cannot believe how friendly the people were. I have to say that they guy working behind the bar (sorry I didn't get your name) was an absolute jem, so helpful. I Cant wait to go back and stay there and have a few drinks on the roof top bar. I have booked a triple room, anyone know if these are at the front or back of the hotel. The ones at the front with the balcony looked lovely.
