What a gem of a place! We discovered this charming bistro earlier this week having been visiting Benidorm for years and generally disappointed by the shortage of good restaurants there. Situated right in the heart of Benidorm's Old Town, The Vagabond is a really lovely, intimate and atmospheric place. The menu was a fairly compact selection of imaginative, beautifully prepared dishes. Everything was really fresh and cooked to perfection - very different from overwhelmingly huge menus of mass-produced food so readily available at lots of the other restaurants, yet we were still spoilt for choice. Although we're both meat-eaters, we were impressed to see four vegetarian choices (really unusual in Spain). The menu had a definite French influence and we had a truly lovely evening. The owners run the place themselves and were very understanding when we had to cancel our reservation and postpone to the next day. Their personal service was extremely attentive and friendly and helped us to choose just the right wine (for a very reasonable price) - spot on! We were even treated to a compimentary glass of wine as we couldn't manage a dessert from the set menu. We'll certainly return next time we're in Benidorm. Tony and John (Birmingham)
