What a gem of a place! We discovered this charming bistro earlier this week having been visiting Benidorm for years and generally disappointed by the shortage of good restaurants there. Situated right in the heart of Benidorm's Old Town, The Vagabond is a really lovely, intimate and atmospheric place. The menu was a fairly compact selection of imaginative, beautifully prepared dishes. Everything was really fresh and cooked to perfection - very different from overwhelmingly huge menus of mass-produced food so readily available at lots of the other restaurants, yet we were still spoilt for choice. Although we're both meat-eaters, we were impressed to see four vegetarian choices (really unusual in Spain). The menu had a definite French influence and we had a truly lovely evening. The owners run the place themselves and were very understanding when we had to cancel our reservation and postpone to the next day. Their personal service was extremely attentive and friendly and helped us to choose just the right wine (for a very reasonable price) - spot on! We were even treated to a compimentary glass of wine as we couldn't manage a dessert from the set menu. We'll certainly return next time we're in Benidorm. Tony and John (Birmingham)

Had a lovely meal in this restaurant, excellent value for money. The sauces are unusual and compliment the dishes beautifully. We cruised on the Queen Mary 2 (grill class) last year and this chap could certainly compete with the chefs on board.
Mussels and pork are a must, if we had been staying in Benidorm longer we would have most definitely eaten there more than once.
Tip....cash only although a cash machine close by. Closed on a Tuesday.

We ( 10 of us ), dined at this fine restaurant after reading the reviews on TA. The warm welcome we received from Frederic and his lovely wife Marie made us feel as though we had known them for years. The food was absolutely fantastic, we all had the 3 course meal, which was cooked to perfection. The sauces that Frederic conjures up are pure magic and leaves you wanting more. The price that you pay is real value- for- money for the quality of the food and we will definately be returning to savour Fred & Marie's fine food. If you are going to Benidorm, you'll be a fool to miss out on this fine restaurant, you enter as guests and leave as friends.
Keep up the Fantastic work Fred & Marie.

A lovely restaurant with excellent hosts that make you feel very welcome. The owners have great pride in the food they serve all of which is created by Frederic the owner of the restaurant. The balance and flavour of every dish was perfect and guests are encouraged to try different tastes thanks to the enthusiasm and explanations given by Frederic. We ate from the set menu which had plenty of choice and was amazingly good value. The hosts are generous, friendly and enthusiastic about what they do and I can only reiterate most other reviewers and say go and have a meal and you'll realise how a restaurant can get such fantastic reviews!
