“ANOTHER EXCELLENT STAY AT THE CALYPSO”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Stayed once again at the Calypso for 11 days from 12 th March.

As usual the food was of an excellent standard and how anyone can criticise and say that there is not enough choice is beyond me and my wife! The staff in the restaurant are always positive and willing to share a few words and the service is so fast!!!

The standard of cleanliness and general appearance of the hotel and it's amenities once again cannot be faulted.

Couple all of the above with the 2 for 1 drinks offer, free wi-fi throughout the hotel incl rooms, free transfer from the airport, free tickets to the Benidorm Palace and for the over 55's a special not very expensive deal which includes wine and water with your meals, and you can see why my wife and I and loads of others return year after year to the Calypso or any of the other Servigroup hotels

Room Tip: High rooms facing the Ambassador are great for views and afternoon sun.

I totally agree with all the positives, eg free WiFi, fabulous staff, variety of food, cleanliness, bar prices, security. Pleasant room with compact en suite and balcony, English tv, fridge, cracking shower, all lovely. A minor niggle was that the evening entertainment was old-fashioned with visitors from other accommodation claiming most of the seating in the lounge in order to hog the dance floor (this may well be just a seasonal issue). I only mention the lounge because this March it was too cold to sit outside in the evening on the terrace. That being said, I'd prefer to stay at the Calypso Hotel with all its pluses than elsewhere ...

Single room, compact but very well equipped and immaculately clean as was the rest of the Hotel. Food very good with plenty of choice; staff polite and efficient. As an ex holiday rep I have been in many four and even some five star hotels which were inferior to this three star. Overall, very good value for money and quality was not compromised by the reasonable cost.

We have stayed at this Hotel many times in the past, and find this hotel must be the Best 3 star Hotel in Benidorm. The Hotel has Friendly Staff from Ane on Reception (She is a wonderful person),to the Dining Room, Bar Area, Chambermaids and Maintenance Staff. The Hotel is Ideally Situated close to Morgan's Tavern (Aka Neptunes Bar of Benidorm I.T.V. Series) Opposite side of the Road. The Hotel is near to the Outdoor Market (Sunday & Wednesday), Indoor Market and Approx. 400 metres to the Wonderful Golden Sands of Levante Beach. The Hotel Rooms come with a Fridge, T.V. (English Channels),Safe, Hairdryer and are cleaned everyday by the chambermaids. The selection of food is very Good and has a wide variety.
We have stayed at a lot of other hotels in Benidorm, but since we stayed at the Calypso a few years ago, we now keep coming back year after year and the standard hasn't dropped, The hotel has a Large Bar Area and had a Good Deal, 2 for 1 Drinks Offer which was a good Bonus.
The only Downside to the hotel was too much dancing at night and we had to go out for the Live Entertainment, But didn't have to walk far, as there is several bars nearby with Good Live Entertainment. We also had a Free Show at Benidorm Palace thanks to Servigroup and Thoroughly Enjoyed the Show.
To all the Staff at the Calypso, thanks for a Wonderful Holiday once Again and hope to see you again soon.

Just spent a week at this hotel and on the whole I would say I was very happy. The rooms were very clean with the maid coming in every day. Only down side is the the waterworks are very noisey and you can hear when rooms close to you are running water. Food at lunch was very good, maybe better than the evening. All the staff were brilliant especially the ones in the restaurant and Mercha in particular. I would recomend this hotel.

Although all hotels charge more at Christmas and New Year, we managed to book this hotel for two couples at what I considered a reasonable price. We used Booking.Com and arranged our own flights. The cheapest flight was by British Airways, so I thought, but we ended up on Iberian Airways, which was taken over by BA a little time ago. Although many of the staff were BA the difference in flights was very noticeable. The staff at the airport confirmed that our tickets included drinks and snacks, but this was NOT the case, and the choice of food was poor to very poor.

I also arrange transfers which were excellent, and arrival at the hotel was also excellent. I had notified the hotel when booking that I wanted a South West facing room, but yet again (this happens a lot to me whichever booking system I use) the hotel either did not note this request, or simply take no notice. However despite facing the EAST it was a good, clean and functional room. I immediately informed the reception concerning by original request and they promised to offer me an alternative once they had one available, bearing in mind we are talking Christmastime. One of the main reasons for independant booking is because most or all of the package deals do not offer location of rooms.

The hotel is very good. The cleanliness, service and staff are very good, and for this level of hotel the food also earns good marks. The evening entertainment is acceptable, but as in many many hotels the line dancers and sequin ballroom dancers tend to hog the floor until later on in the evening. The drinks prices are very reasonable, with two for one most of the time, and served by friendly staff. Because of the location, you are spoilt for choice if you prefer the night club type pubs, which vary from pretty good, to not so good. Benedorm is a really good resort if you want a budget type holiday, and it does really have everything, and in the main is well maintained. If anyone can show me any other resort in the WORLD where you can get a SERVED good coffee with either brandy or liquer for around 1.5 euros then please do so. In the middle of winter, with sunshine most of the time only the Canaries come near to this. My only critical comment is that the hotel might think about providing more glass covered area for enjoying the sunshine in the day without the sometimes cool breeze, but I am nitpicking and overall my congratulations to the staff of the Servigroup Calypso for working very hard to provide us with an enjoyable week.

Room Tip: In the winter South West facing is always warmer, but in the summer probably too hot

Food was excellent, staff very friendly , hotel very clean and the addition of a small fridge in the room was great. Will certainly book this hotel again. Bar prices good with the 2 for 1 option on most drinks. If you want a quite room ask for one at the back.
