“Algar Waterfalls”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

I have just returned from a day out to the waterfalls, what a terrific place. Really enjoyed, so worth the drive from Pinoso. Travelled there by motorway but came back the mountain road to Alcoy. A truly fantastic trip on it's own. Veiws to die for. Every visitor here should do it.Only gave the Falls 4stars because the picnic area was closed for refurb, other wise it would be full 5stars.

“Nice day out and beautiful scenery”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

This is definitely a highlight on the tourist map. It's relatively easy to reach by car - we came from Moraira and followed the N-332 for Altea, then Callosa d'en Sarria and the waterfalls themselves are relatively well signposted from there. Parking is a few Euros and there is also a fee for getting into the falls, so I presume a coach trip would have extra expense on top of this. You don't need to park in the first car park you get to, there are several along the road and will save you a bit of walking - although if you start driving up the hill then you've gone too far!

The falls are very beautiful and there are plenty of places to swim and a few spots where it's deep enough to dive in. The water is very cold, but very refreshing! There are quite a few steps to get up to the top, but nothing majorly strenuous, and you can apparently continue some way further up the river when the footpath runs out although we didn't do this. We went in the first week of September and thus it was still quite busy on the tourist scene, so it's probably easier to appreciate in the early morning/out of season.

The shops and restaurants in the small village are nothing spectacular but very sweet, and they have a great selection of local honeys and jams which are worth taking back home!

“Brilliant day out!”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

A bit off the beaten track (Callosa D'en Sarri) through lovely landscapes on drive up. Very cheap entrance (2.50E kids, 4E adults), walk to the top along paths and stairs, then return via the water pools and falls. Ending near the entrance - the most stunning waterfall. Spend the day, lots of shade. Very cold water, tip: need watershoes (not flip-flops) - very uneven and rocky. Take a picnic or eat at one the restaurantes along the road, some have swimmings pools if you haven't had enough water! We had lunch at El Algar de Don Juan, fabulous paella, reasonably prices! Had a swim while waiting for the food.

“Great place to cool off”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

We hired a car and went for a few hours. Very popular so try and avoid the middle of the day. Water was lovely and cool and inexpensive. Very easy to find and the fruit you can buy outside is really good!
