Indeed a palace, with dignitaries lining the walls, plush furnishings, a grand gate, chamber music in the drawing room, and a full size royal carriage in the lobby. A comfy bed, but cramped at its foot, a mere few inches from the wall where a small TV hangs, so I ran into it often. A constant high-pitched whistle from the pipes in the bathroom. Beautiful streets in the wee hours. Good location, but parking is a couple blocks away and is very cramped for a large car. WiFi ranges from marginal to miserable, with numerous SSIDs that come and go. Breakfast was very dry but the fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice were amazing. Seems to be popular with Camino hikers, 5 sets of whom were complaining about all their aches and blisters, moving between English and Spanish several times in a sentence.

Pamplona during winter season is great and we got a fabulous low-season deal in February. Helpful staff, luxurious and comfortable room, incredible breakfast. All this in a truly historical palace. This is THE place to stay in when visiting beautiful Pamplona!

I found very little to fault at this magnificently appointed hotel. The entrance hall contains an entire 17th century carriage, and an array of vintage cars. Welcome and checkin was professional and friendly. Parking is at a nearby underground facility and we were able to drop off our bags and check in before securing the car. Everything worth seeing in Pamplona is within walking distance. Our room looked out over the square to the front and we liked the smart, elegant but not over-fussy decor. Spacious bathroom, plump generous towels and a good shower meant overall a great experience. One awkward aspect: we had lunch at the bar outside and the waitress spoke no English which meant we had to translate for other guests; the food however was awesome. Breakfast was astonishing, served in a grand hall with pictures of the likes of Philip IV to watch over the diners; I would prefer a buffet for the hot food, rather than getting everything off a menu, however, which complicated an otherwise enjoyable meal. We went mid September and the town and hotel were quiet, which suited us well. If you want it livelier, I imagine things can get much busier and noisier in summer and during San Fermin. Overall good value for money with a good dose of luxury and a dollop of history to add a good deal extra. It’s highly traditional in character but modern in all the right places.

An unassuming front, this hotel makes you step back in history with its luxurious "royal carriage" and wall decorations from its past. It is situated in the heart of Old Town and you will find many shops and eateries surrounding it. We had breakfast there for 2 mornings and it was very good. You do pay extra for it. The staff are welcoming and friendly. There is also a nice bar located past the foyer and a large enclosed patio area in back. It was lovely to sit out and enjoy a drink outside in the late afternoon. There is only one elevator so the wait might be long if it is crowded. We were on the 3rd floor and while the staircase is grand for the first few floors, we had to climb up a much narrower walk up to our room. The rooms were nice regardless of the floor you were on and we did get a nice treat of cookies in the evening.
