“Good choice for Murcia - location and quality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

The Silken Siete Coronas is very well located right downtown, only five minutes from the Cathedral, and next to Plaza San Juan with the best restaurants in Murcia. This is a good four star business hotel with excellent facilities and helpful reception staff. Comfort rooms are large and equipped to a high standard. The breakfast is pretty good too. Overall the Silken offers fantastic quality/price ratio for Murcia and I highly recommend it. But dont pay the 17 EUR hotel daily parking , you can park opposite or in nearby streets for free if youre lucky.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor room with a view over the river

Stayed here 28 July for 4 nights. Requested a high floor room and thats exactly what we got - with a great view over the river and the mountains. The room was comfortable and had a great bed. The bar was a pleasant and cool area and prices were reasonable for a 4 star hotel. One of the barmen was very warm and friendly - remembered our name at every visit. (you will recognise him with his deep voice!) Other staff in the reception/ breakfast room were efficient but a bit cool.

The hotel is a short walk to the cathedral area which is particularly nice. To be honest we were a bit disappointed in Murcia - the centre is beautiful in a smallish area and the rest is a bit of a let down. It was also extremely hot in july as would be expected.

The tourist information centre had the friendliest staff and gave us lots of advice on some good walks round the city.

Did the job for a 3 night stay in August. Requested a high floor and go one, had a standard room which had been refurbished quite recently but with an old slightly tired style of bathroom. Perfectly adequate for the very good price (41 euro per room per night with breakfast so do look around!) Other rooms were available which are better quality but of course you pay more. Hotel had excellent air-con everywhere which was needed as it was 44c daytime and 38c at night the weekend we stayed.

Breakfast was excellent all you could want meats, cheeses, various breads and 15+ types of pastries every morning, one of the best breakfasts we have had for ages. Several juices, coffees and an hour later after a very relaxing unhurried breakfast we were set to hit the streets, a good start to the day.

Location is tops overlooking the river (just passed the Hospital so easy to find) and only 5 minutes walk from the Cathederal. Parked no problem opposite the hotel, although it was Summer so the city was quiet.

Overall a decent 4 star typical city/business hotel.

I had to leave Hotel Nelva in Murcia after 3 nights of not being able to sleep, and I came here. It was like a haven of peace and quiet coming to my rescue. The service is great, the rooms are neat and spacious. If you take the Club Room (or Superior), your window opens to the back, so you have no noise and you are still in the center of city. The bathroom is well equiped with all kinds of cosmetic products, good minibar. I had visited several hotels while looking for alteernatives for Nelva, and it was by far the best offer.

Room Tip: Junior Suites are nice but have a view to the river and thus the street, so you hear the traffic. It...

Have just returned from 3 nights in this hotel. Very nice indeed and paid next to nothing - booked through Venere.com and 3 nights for 2 people inc buffet breakfast 165 euros.

From Murcia airport it was 55 euros in a taxi, takes around 25 mins.

Rooms nice and spacious, well stocked mini bar, every type of item in the bathroom could want - razor, shaving cream, toothbrush, paste, soap, cologne, shampoo, shower gel etc.
**Note if your hair takes a while to dry maybe take your own hairdryer as the one in the bathroom is not very powerful.
Air conditioning works well and they have very good black out curtains.

Breakfast was fine - everything you could want , fruits ,cheeses, cold meat, salmon, salad, cakes, pastries, different breads, yoghurts, various juices, water - red, white and rose wine.

We had a few drinks in the bar , not bad priced 2.50 euros for a pint of lager, outside of the hotel much better prices on drinks and food.

You are 5 mins on foot from the bullring one way and 5 mins from the cathedral the other way.

Maybe best to learn a few spanish words /phrases as not a great deal of people speak english but its good fun trying to explain what would like to eat .

Reception staff and waiters very polite and helpful.

Would go back.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. I had requested a room overlooking the river and this was arranged for me when I arrived. We did not eat in the hotel as it is very expensive when compared to the prices of the cafes and bars nearby.
The hotel was easy to find and we were able to park every night. The parking was 17 euro/night which did add up, but it is on a par with inner-city parking in most cities and the parking situation in Murcia is obviously a problem. The room was well appointed and comfortable, the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze but had everything we needed. The room had excellent blackout curtains which meant that we were able to sleep very well and were not woken by the sun shining full on the windows each morning. We were in room 330 which was directly by the lift shaft which was quite noisy on one morning from fairly early on-I suppose it depends how busy the hotel is.
It was a short walk to the cathedral and lots of tapas bars, the river bank was on the other side of the road, there is a supermarket at the end of the road by the hospital.
We would definitely stay there again if we were visiting Murcia.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river get the sun and you can see the hills behind the city.

I have stayed in Murcia many times over the last 10-12 years , with the Rincon de Pepe or the Siete Coronas being the preferred choices.Other hotels have been used, but none more than once. On this occasion I was travelling with a colleague and we agreed to stay here.

We arrived quite late and some what dishevelled, the check in desk gaves us a couple of rooms on the top floor. The rooms were a reasonable size, clean with a good size bed and a firm mattress, helps the old back!!!

The hotel is located a 10 minute meander from the centre of the city. There is a small bar and an outside terrace which can be very pleasant in the summer months.

Breakfast was included in our chosen rate and offers a wide range catering for most, my colleague is a vegetarian and had no issues clearing a couple of plates.

As with most Spanish hotels in winter time, I wish they would do something about the level of the heating, even with the window open, it a minor complaint but it does drive me mad!!!

In conclusion,I have used this hotel many times for both work and pleasure and have no real issues. A good choice in a very pleasant city.
