“They didn't know it existed until 1988!”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

This is well worth a visit if you're anywhere near Cartagena.
If you're driving, park in one of the port car parks and you're only a short walk away. Not only is it fascinating as an archaeological project, the fact that it was covered by newer buildings and only discovered in 1988 is incredible, even more so is the architect who has designed a museum that eventually leads up to a big reveal of the open air theatre. There is an English speaking guided tour around 1pm which lasts approximately 1 hr and is well worth hanging around for - I learnt more about the Romans way of life from the Spanish guide than any history lesson at school!

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Worthwhile attraction, you won't spend ages here but it's worth visiting.
The museum part and lead in to the main attraction is modern, interesting though not massively over populated with exhibits.
The theatre itself has no signs/information or guide but just standing in it gives a feeling to be experienced.
For a 6 Euro entrance fee you can't go wrong.

“Excellent modern displays”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

The whole Roman theatre and forum are beautifully displayed with modern trappings such as a roof, tunnel, audiovisual, etc.

A charming young attendant gave us a personal tour of the forum area and certainly made it more understanding.

This is a really lovely day out. The Modernista, or Art Nouveau, houses in the city are being restored and are absolutely gorgeous.

“Don't miss this museum”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The Museum is a Theater Roman and his belongs. It was restored only in 2001. Today is the best attraction in Cartagena. To visit you will need walk and climb a dozens of steps. Be prepared. The best way to visit the attractions in Cartagena is buying a ticket that gives you acess to City Sightseeing Tourist Bus with discounts in many other attractions.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Well worth a visit, a very interesting tour. if you're into anything like this then it is great. you will learn about the history of the Roman theatre, and how people have adapted and lived in it after the romans. Its hard to believe that so big a monument was only found so recently
