LOS NIETOS is a very old fishing village on the shore of the Mar Menor. It is a year-round thriving community with shops, two supermarkets, bank, restaurants, cafés and bars. The beaches run almost the full length of the 2 Km seafront from the Natural Park at La Lengua de la Vaca (The Cow's Tongue) headland - a great place for fishing to La Viva Restaurant at the northern end of the village where Kite and wind surfers congregate. The main beaches are considered safe for children. The water is both shallow and warm. It is a traditional holiday destination for Spanish families. The population is mainly Spanish with about 10% of British and other Europeans.
